As carer for my disabled adult child, I continue to be extremely appalled at the level of service at this practice. Ever since they registered here, there have been ongoing issues. Ranging from problems with medication, lack of compassion, poor bedside manners, booked phone consultations not happening until days after, inability to access gp appointments and being continually told to go to hospital ‘if it’s that bad’! I am very concerned that vulnerable patients are being put in high risk situations, as a result of the lack of patient care at this practice. I am well aware of the strains that the NHS is under at present and, as a child of someone who worked in the NHS for many years, have nothing but admiration for those who strive to do their best in difficult circumstances. Unfortunately, the issues at this surgery have been going on pre pandemic, and have quite simply deteriorated since. When can we expect this surgery to offer the service it purports to offer the community it serves?

  2. Review titled No empathy

After calling the surgery in great pain to ask when my pain relief prescription would be ready, i was told " i should know when im going to run out" and i would have to wait as the doctors have been in a meeting. There was no "sorry your in pain, i will see what I can do" i was shocked at the uncaring attitude of the receptionist. This left me angry frustrated and still in a lot of pain. As this pain relief is not on repeat prescription i have to go through this every 30 days. Having a full time job, family and Fibromyalgia this is becoming a great inconvenience. Please please either put this on repeat so I can order myself ontime or employ more sympathetic caring staff in your practice. This individual made my situation so much worse with her attitude. Please please can you take thus seriously. No wonder people are abusive with argumentative nhs staff. Please listen to customers . I am still in pain, still no prescription so i willcontact again today, hopefully someone different wll answer.

  3. Review titled Poor service

It is impossible to book an appointment over the phone, you have to use askmygp, which goes off-line 3 minutes after 8am. The instruction is to be by your phone and check emails for a response. I wait all day for a call or email. At 16:55 - almost 9 hours after my message - I received an email that says I may need to go to A&E for an assessment. No one took the time to speak to me, or even to write a coherent email explaining why I might need to go to A&E and what I should expect to happen when I got there. What is the point of a GP service if they cannot communicate to patients and only tell them to use an already overstretched alternative NHS service, such as A&E?

Spent 20 minutes trying to get through to be told no appointments left for today call back again at 2pm or 4pm for appointments at another surgery. This nonsense system of calling at 8am simply doesn't work!

  5. Review titled Terrible.

It’s been going downhill for sometime the staff are clueless and rude, the doctors don’t call you on the day they should and leave you to chase up your phone consultation, then don’t even bother to call you for a second day, it’s hard to feel compassion for them when they clearly don’t care about the wellbeing of others, I hope in the not to distant future they sack everybody there and get people in that actually know how to do the job they get so handsomely rewarded for.

  6. Review titled Poor Poor Practice

I have travelled and lived around the country over many years and been registered at a large number of GP practices. I can honestly say that my experience with Ramsbottom Medical Practice is by far and away the worst I have ever had Impossible to get an appointment, even harder to speak to the practice manager always off site allegedly or not working today, staff dismissive of you as a patient at a time of need As a fantastic supporter of the NHS, its staff and all that it does, I have now been forced to seek private medical care as getting to see a GP at this practice is one of the most difficult things I've encountered for a long, long time. And that's a sad reflection on the Practice and the way its treats its patients I fully understand the current pressures on the NHS and GP Surgeries, but this is being used as a smokescreen for poor performance

  7. Review titled Excellent patient care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I just wanted to leave a review for a positive experience I had at the surgery. I did have to be very quick on ask my gp in order to submit my request but the care I received was excellent. The practice is clearly under immense pressure but the GP who I saw was so lovely and reassuring and didn’t actually have a break so I was able to be seen. Reception staff also very helpful. Thank you.

Dear Patient. Thank you so much for leaving such a positive review which has been shared with all the Doctors and staff. At a time when so many patients are (understandably) annoyed and frustrated when demand far outstrips our capacity, your kind comments have certainly been a morale booster. It is so good to know that patients still care and appreciate what we do during these very diffcult and challenging times.

  9. Review titled Exasperated

I care for both my parents who are both 86 years old. My dad has dementia and my mum various issues, one of which is a heart condition. I have been trying to book an appointment for my mum for over a month with absolutely no success whatsoever. My gp is nearly always down, or unavailable and trying to get through at 8am each morning is nearly always impossible. If and when you do get through there are never any appointments available. Why they no longer have pre-bookable appointments is beyond me??? I was told to ring 111 and maybe I could get an appointment that way, I was under the impression this was for urgent cases, maybe I'm wrong? My mums health issues are definitely getting worse and I'm at the end of my tether with the practice who certainly have no care and compassion for the patients they are supposed to serve. A number of the staff are lovely and I understand their hands are tied with all the rules and constraints they are under, but there is no need for the rudeness and sheer lack of compassion from some of the staff. I feel I have no other option than to change practices and hope for a better outcome. Get your act together managers, and an nvq in customer care is advisable for your Reception staff

Dear Patient. thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for the practice. All our team members are doing their very best in difficult circumstances. To the majority of our patients who continue to be understanding and supportive, we thank you for your kindness, and appreciate your tolerance. Demand for appointments has become significantly greater than capacity, and whichever way we try to manage our appointments to provide ‘same day’ demand or pre-bookable demand, there is simply not enough to be able to see everyone when they want it We understand your frustrations at not being about to get through on the phone, at having to wait longer for an appointment, or not being seen on the day that you want We also understand the desire to be seen in person, and we will facilitate this where possible and appropriate. Our appointments will continue to be on the phone initially, and if the clinician feels that the consultation needs to be in person, then we will convert that appointment and invite you to attend in person. We have GPs, Registrar, a very experienced practice nurse and advanced nurse practitioner, pharmacist, Health Care Support workers, First Contact Practitioner (physiotherapist) and Paramedics working alongside the doctors which is why the reception team will ask you for the reason for your appointment so that they can book you in with the right clinician for that day. There are other services that are outside of the practice that are also sometimes better placed to manage your condition, for example the urgent eye service –local community pharmacy- NHS 111- etc and this is why the team will direct you to other services once they know why you are asking for an appointment that day. If you would like to contact the practice using our complaints procedure, we will do our very best to help. Doctors at Ramsbottom Group Practice

  10. Review titled Disgusting

Rated 1 star out of 5

Absolutely shocking - staff rude, just sit there twiddling their hair at the desk, if not doing that then they are nowhere to be seen, just sat gossiping in the back. Can’t make an appointment for over 2 years and then when you eventually do, and you turn up, they turn you away and refuse to see you. I’m sure they wouldn’t care if you lay dead on the floor. No compassion or care for the community, no apology when an error was made, instead they just get all defensive and raise their voice. One particular staff member who I would love to name had a disgusting attitude. No privacy, spoken to in a rude and abrupt manner with no consideration of the fact people are there as they are unwell. Very patronising and looking down their noses at you. Quick to make comments about people who are unwell not wearing any face masks, yet when you ask for one when first entering the building they say there is none. Rang and spoke to the practice manager who again was very patronising, gave the worlds most careless apology after not even listening to what happened, and wasn’t interested in hearing it. I won’t bother putting in a written complaint as advised, as I can see from your other reviews online that you manipulate everything anyway. Heard awful things about this surgery in the past but didn’t believe it until I saw it for myself. Staff need some training and time to reflect on how they are speaking to people that come to this clinic for help.
