Rated 1 star out of 5

by Victoria Henderson - Posted on 25 October 2023

I have had issues with my ankles and knees for over 10 years I suffer bad with it giving way and getting chronic pain , I put a e consult in this morning asking to see a dr they have said I need to see a fcp which I do not see the point as they just refer me to pain clinic (which I have attended many times ) or msk (again attended many times ) or refer me to see gp which I want to do anyway as I think I need a new X-ray on the knee and ankle to see if anything has changed and why it’s giving way or pain is getting worse

Dear Mrs Henderson Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent e-consult. GP practices continue to work under immense pressure with rising demand and we are attempting to manage this demand as best as we can reasonably do so. For many years we have been using a triage-based model where the reception teams direct you to the best clinician, this has been the best way to ensure the greatest number of patients are seen and that you are seen by the most appropriate healthcare professional. When patients demand to be seen by a GP, not only does this create additional pressures in both clinical and time resources but your family member, friend or neighbour that is more unwell may not be able to be seen as there are only so many appointments to go around. Currently the demand for any healthcare appointment is at an all time high but we are working extremely hard to try and help our patients. This is all being delivered when our sickness absences are also higher than normal as we too become unwell. We are here to help and want to continue to do so but we are working under extremely difficult conditions and your help in this would be very gratefully received. I can confirm that FCP's can request x-rays and scans for you. If you would like me to investigate your concerns further, then please contact the practice directly through our website at www.qpmc.co.uk and select the box to leave your feedback. Kind regards The QPMC Team

  2. Review titled Wonderful GP's and Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

After becoming more unwell over the last few weeks I can't thank my GP's enough for their kindness and support. I am very fortunate to have not one but two wonderful GP and I really appreciate everything they do to support a patient like myself who is rather complex to say the least. When I rang this morning I spoke to a very kind receptionist and I saw my GP later that day who doesn't just look after me but my family as well. Thank you for all you do.

  3. Review titled Let’s hope you are not very Ill

After being in a queue to hopefully get an appointment being told you would keep your number in the queue if you press 0 and you would get a call back. Which I did after 4 hours my number 12 in queue must have had the other 11 talking for a long time. Once I got the call back and explained what was wrong I was told that they would speak to the Doctor later. I explained I was in a lot of pain couldn’t walk or straighten my leg. That didn’t matter the lady I was speaking to was abrupt if they had looked at my history they would have seen that I had not been to the doctors in at least the last 10 years. So obviously I don’t bother the doctor and must be in some pain to contact them. Let’s hope everything is ok with my leg as the pain etc is still there I can’t get to work as I can’t walk and the pain is too much. Good luck to anyone who can get past the not so friendly receptionist and actually see a doctor. No wonder people go to an over worked A&E department

Thank you leaving feedback regarding your recent issues when contacting Queens Park Medical Centre. I would like to thank you for taking the time and trouble to let us know about the problems you have experienced, and I am sorry that you have had cause to complain. Our new call back system has been well received by patients generally and is working well. I am sorry to hear that you waited such a long time for a call back and also very surprised as our wait times are usually less than an hour. I would appreciate the opportunity to investigate this issue and raise it with our telecoms provider and would therefore be grateful if you would contact the surgery directly to let us know your details so that we can look into this further. With regards to our receptionist speaking to the doctor, this is often what happens if all the appointments for that day have been taken. Usually, the receptionist will contact the doctor for advice, and if you need to be seen this will be arranged. Again, if you contact the surgery directly, I will be able to investigate this fully for you. Once again, I would like to thank you for leaving us your feedback, we take all complaints seriously as this helps shape our practice and provide the best possible care.

  4. Review titled Great GP Practice

Having multiple chronic and complex conditions continuity of care is so important and I am very fortunate to have have two amazing GPs' and I cannot praise them highly enough. They take the time to listen and are kind, compassionate and supportive and I am so appreciative of the high standard of care I receive from these GPs so thank you. Prescriptions are done promptly and the new telephone system is so much better for patients offering a call back if they don't wish to hold. Well done to all at Queens Park - thank you.

  5. Review titled Can’t get an appointment and told I don’t need one.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Called to get an appointment, told they can’t offer me one after taking ages to get through. Called a few days later, won’t accept simple reason to see anyone want full in depth explanation even if it’s private… managed to request an appointment to be told i would be wasting the doctors time and I don’t need to see them- just see someone else. Bearing in mind I’ve been backwards and forwards to the doctor this year about the same issue so needed to speak to them. Also all my prescriptions I have had all year and was able to request via NHS app have all been removed so now since I can’t call to request repeat medications I have to go in and fill in a form to request medication. Completely went downhill as a doctors and very disappointed.

Thank you for your comments regarding your experience with Queens Park Medical Centre recently. We are sorry that you had to wait a little longer than we would wish for an answer to your telephone call, but we are currently receiving an unprecedented demand upon our services. We have recently installed a new telephone system which has greatly reduced the wait time for our patients, however during in our busiest period the wait can be up to 30 minutes. If you waited longer than 30 minutes for an answer to your call, I would be grateful if you could contact the surgery so that we can establish if there are issues with our new system that we are unaware of. As a practice we are attempting to manage patient demand as best as we can reasonably do so. We use a triage-based model which means the reception team direct you to the best clinician. This is the best way to ensure the greatest number of patients are seen and by the most appropriate healthcare professional, which is not always a GP. With regards to your medication, as I don't have all the necessary details, I can only presume that your repeat authorisation has come to an end. Repeat medication is usually authorised for 6 or 12 months and must then be reviewed by your GP to ensure you are taking the correct medication and that it is still safe to do so. If you would like to contact our prescribing team at the surgery, they will be able to advise the best way to rectify this issue so that you can continue to order your prescriptions on the NHS App. I hope this provides a fulsome response to the issues you have raised. If you would like us to investigate further, then please contact the surgery directly so that we have all the required information.

  6. Review titled Dreadful Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mr Wright - Posted on 05 July 2022

This practice used to be one of the best in Stockton, it now must rate the worst. When phoning, if you can actually get onto their answering service, you start at 15th in the queue, and then wait half an hour for a customer service agent. When attending in person you have to shout your name and personal details through a plastic screen to the receptionist in full view and hearing of the rest of the queue and waiting area. No privacy. If you can get an appointment with a doctor its either online or on the phone, they never follow up to check if you have improved or died. No patient care anymore like it used to be.

Thank you for your comments regarding the problems you have experienced recently. We understand your frustrations with the length of wait on our telephone system and we are sorry that you have had to wait longer than we would wish for an answer to your telephone calls, your health is very important to us, however we are currently receiving an unprecedented demand upon our services. We are however, exploring the possibility of installing a new telephone system which will hopefully improve our patients experience when contacting us. With regards to privacy at the reception desk, unfortunately due to Covid, additional plastic screens were installed to keep our staff and vulnerable patients safe. With Covid rates currently increasing again, our plans to remove the screens have been halted. If you would like to speak to a receptionist privately, then please ask when you attend. We are sorry that you feel obtaining an appointment is difficult. Currently the demand for any healthcare appointment is at an all-time high but we are working extremely hard to try and help you. This is all being delivered when our sickness absences are also higher than normal as we too become unwell. If you would like your concerns investigating in more detail, then please contact the surgery directly.
