  1. Review titled Appalling surgery

Usually waiting 2+ weeks for an appointment only to be told they don’t have enough time to talk about a 2nd ailment and you’ll have to book another appointment. The Klinic system is a joke and just an excuse to have even less interaction with patients. They are leaving patients suffering and are of no use to the community.

  2. Review titled Disgraceful way to run a practice.

Awful. Logged on to ask for an appointment (you can’t ring anymore it’s banned), got fed up waiting at 4pm with absolutely zero contact so phoned, said I hadn’t had a call back. Reply “yeh they will look at it, don’t know when or even if it will be today, just call 111 if it gets worse”. Why is the system so broken u can’t get a doctor appointment despite being with the practice for 40 years!!! So now I’m going to have to call 111 and beg for an appointment probably miles and miles away from where I live. Disgusting.

  4. Review titled Oh dear, avoid if you can.

It is very difficult to get an appointment, but you may get a call back when you fill in the new on line form. The form is not at all user friendly, and needs revising, many of the questions are of no relevance. My partner does not use technology, it took him 3 months to receive a call back about his health - he is now scared of contacting the surgery - as when he actually saw a GP his health had got worse, and he had more problems to discuss. The doctor told him that he only had 5 mins to consult with him, and cut him short! The surgery does not appear to offer 5 yearly health checks for patients over 40 years of age - never been offered them in decades. You need to keep on top of what injections/tests are needed yourself - as there does not appear to be a system to call you in. The surgery in St Columb always looks grubby and uncared for. Tried to change to other surgeries - without success, it really is a postcode lottery, sad as it used to be really good.

  5. Review titled Absolute shambles

Rated 1 star out of 5

Where to begin. Getting past the god like receptionist is hard. When she's actually at her station and I don't have to ring a bell and wait ten minutes . To then hand her a letter from my cardiologist who has prescribed potentially life saving drugs to prevent angina and get told it'll be next week.. . She scans the letter and sees that it's urgent to tell me that the Dr is aware and it's on my notes. . well why hasn't it been prescribed. Why do I have to wait yet another weekend for whoever to actually do their job . If you came into my restaurant and I made you wait 4 days you would go else where ... But I don't have that choice. . how hard can it really be. Or do I need to have another heart attack and sue you for neglect..but back to the receptionist. . how rude would you like to be. I mean there's people in the que whilst your discussing my letter . And the best bit when I walk out disgruntled you continue to moan about me like I've done something wrong.. I guess you didn't realise the next person was my partner. . But that's ok you discuss my health after I've left in public. . No confidentiality in this surgery

We are sorry that we were not able to resolve this for you within a reasonable timeframe. In order to look into this we would ask you contact the surgery directly. If you require further assistance please use our Klinik form to request an appointment or help with your prescription.

  6. Review titled Practice gone downhill rapidly

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Same as many other patients. Barrier of the reception and having to discuss personal health problems with an unqualified person often in the presence of other members of the public. What happened to the confidentiality between doctor and patient? Actually getting a face to face appointment without being one breath short of a blue light ambulance is another matter. Now we have the alternative appointment, the phone call where the doctor is not on Whatsapp so is unable to actually view the nastiness of the problem but has to decipher ones description of the problem. I have friends in the Newquay area and they don't suffer the same problems. It's not the Doctoring, it's the organisation, which sadly also sums up the NHS at present

We understand the frustration that patients have when it comes to contacting us. We have recently introduced Klinik, in order to help triage patients requests. This allows patients to fill in a form, rather than speaking with a receptionist if they prefer. Please see our website for more information.

  7. Review titled poor service

I would firslly like to say that the doctors and nurses there are very polite and excellent at doing their job. The appointment system is well out of date and the receptionists are very rude when you talk to them,

  8. Review titled disgraceful

Rated 1 star out of 5

I was very unwell and needed an appointment to see a doctor to establish what was going on. The receptionist said no as it was only for emergencies. I was concerned for my health after having a rash on my arm that spread across my whole body. I had to get my mum to phone as the receptionist just wouldn't listen to me. Even then they were obscenely rude. After practically begging for help I was finally seen to by a doctor (the next day) and was treated for anaphylaxis. I was then blue lighted to hospital after being treated by 2 brilliant gp's I think some of the receptionists need further training in order to triage people as they clearly haven't a clue. I now have no trust and worry when I need treatment in the future and have to attend this surgery. I shouldn't have to feel uncomfortable when it comes to my health. Something needs to be done. You have a duty of care.

  9. Review titled Rubbish rubbish rubbish

Rated 1 star out of 5

Phone to get an appointment . And stay on hold from place 10 till 1 and then get cut off, so I drive to the surgery as I deem it as an emergency . To then be told I'll be phone triaged .. I didn't take my mobile. So I have to go home again. And wait.. all that time having heart palpitations .. the receptionist thinks of herself as god . She is rude. Short and suffers from a compete lack of empathy or copassion... She can blatantly see I'm out of breath. Shaking. Sweating and clammy . And a heart patient .. 10 steps from her to get out of her chair or she could have made a call through to the drs room and I could have seen a Dr.. but no.. can't be done. What a useless surgury.. may as well close it down it ain't no use for anyone. Complete and utter rubbish. Don't go there not even if your life depends on it

We would like to investigate this incident further. Anyone coming to the surgery that is having heart palpitations as above should, in the first instance, have been asked if they had called 999 or 111, as either of these would be an appropriate pathway. Whilst we are not an emergency service, staff have been trained to recognise when patients arrive in serious ill health, and we should have given the patient a seat and sought a GP or paramedic to assist and check the patient. If we could ask you to put your complaint in writing, to the surgery, with the patient details the Practice Manager will investigate.

  10. Review titled Practice no longer fit for purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

What has happened to our surgery? I’ve been waiting over 2 years for minor surgery. My husband has been waiting almost 1 year for an echocardiogram. Perhaps it would be more convenient if he could have a heart attack and die? Getting an appointment is virtually impossible. You have to be cross examined by a receptionist who is not medically trained or competent to triage- in a public area too- it’s appalling. All home visits are farmed out to private paramedics. The waiting room is usually empty- and always empty on a Monday. What are our doctors actually doing? They’re certainly not visible. If you’re lucky enough to get a telephone consultation, you’d better wait by your phone. I went to the loo and missed mine, so had to start the whole rigamarole of the e-consult/ waiting in all day for a phone call, all over again. Medicines are given out in tiny amounts- why am I paying for a small prescription every month when I have a stable condition that does not need reviewing for 6 months? What a rip off! If I could go elsewhere I would. The people of St Merryn and Padstow have had enough. No wonder people overburden accident and emergency - your dreadful service pushes them that way. It’s about time the practice manager was sacked and the whole modus operandi overhauled.
