  1. Review titled Old ladies terrified to bother them

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 April 2023

My elderly mother is experiencing a mental health crisis. Because of the letter released by the practice in January (copy on news section of the surgery website titled "Open Letter" 16.1.23, though I think it was sent to patients gillinghamsurgery co uk / news / open-letter - dots removed spacing added to pass censor) expressing how busy they are, she feels she can't bother them as they "need to see all the people with heart attacks and cancer more". She is becoming increasingly unwell - I have given her some self-referral links but she really needs a face to face GP consult. Gillingham is full of elderly, law abiding types, like my mother, who as a result of the practice's communication are likely to not seek the help they need. I understand there are great pressures on GPs, but the wrong people abide by a letter like this and suffer. I'm not sure whether it has any impact on timewasters, in which case no one benefits and only harm results.
