  1. Review titled Slipping

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I have been a patient for many years. Recently the standards of service are really slipping. Covid and flu jabs were only available on a Saturday when I cannot attend, and I have now been told they're not doing any more. Also, it's getting very difficult to get an appointment, particularly with the non GP services such as social prescriber, nurse, and physiotherapist. GP appointments are slightly easier, but there is little if no continuity. And finally, getting through on the telephone can be almost impossible. Shame really as this used to be a brilliant practice

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry that you have had reason to complain about the services we provide. Our flu clinics have run on a Saturday for many years now and the majority of our patients have been satisfied with this service. Unfortunately it is difficult to have a system in place that will suit all of our patients. The clinics began in mid-September with an additional clinic added, which will take place on 28th October. If you are unable to attend, there a number of Pharmacy’s offering the same service if Saturdays are difficult for you. For the social prescriber, you can leave your name and number and the Social Prescriber will get back to you, our physiotherapist appointments are booked up as soon as the appointments are added to the system. There are now two therapists, one on a Saturday and one on a Monday to help with the demand. It is a case of calling up until you get an appointment, as appointments are booked on a first come first serve basis. We really do not have any control on the number of call’s coming into the Practice, if you cannot get through, this means that staff are speaking to other patients. We do encourage our patients to come to us directly with complaints as without further information from a patient, it is really difficult to help in any way, other than to give you answers based on the feedback given. For instance, the time and the day of your call, can make quite a difference; in terms of how long you may wait on the phone, as some days are much busier than others. Are you aware of other ways of getting in touch with the reception team, or a clinician? If you would like to discuss the issues you have raised further, please do get in touch and we will do our best to help you understand and navigate the services you mentioned. Kind regards Alison Peat Assistant Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Fantastic nursing experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I would like to thank the nurse who has just completed my course of B12 injections. Despite some administration confusion, she was calm, encouraging, efficient and professional throughout. She glided through all small issues and it was very reassuring to know that I would be seeing her and that I would receive great care on each occasion. I understand that I should not name her, but I trust that you can work out who she is from my name and details as she deserves praise for her patient care. Thank you!

  3. Review titled Reassuring Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Called by phone within the 8 to 10 am timeslot and rapidly moved down the waiting list to speak to a gp who thankfully gave me an emergency appointment within a couple of hours (the receptionist had previously informed me that an appointment would only be available in approximatley 10 days time!) I have had two such 'emergency appointments' recently and it is reassuring to have such a system of consultancy. I should also point out that the quality of speaking with receptionists has improved vastly when previously courtesy was lacking

  4. Review titled Lack of speed with regards to prescriptions

Rated 1 star out of 5

Waited from 11th May until 2nd June for my mothers (who’s 84) pain killer prescription. It took several phone calls and the pharmacy calling to make it happen. Whilst my mother was at home in pain.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. It is extremely unusual for any patient to wait 16 working days for a prescription. We take all feedback on board and would like to take the opportunity of investigating the issue you have raised further. Can you kindly contact the Assistant Practice Manager to discuss. Reception can be very difficult to deal with. Receptions can get impatient when speaking to patients and end up not being helpful.

  6. Review titled Amazingly well run practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 April 2023

I just wanted to give some positive feedback and thanks. I think the way this surgery manages appointments is just brilliant. Whilst you can book appointments in advance online, they also run a telephone advice line from 8-10am every day, which is answered directly by a doctor and is is absolutely amazing. I don’t know any other surgeries that do this and I can’t understand why. It means I can speak to a doctor and they can helpfully triage - often don’t need an appointment particularly if it is for me but if it is urgent and needs to be seen, or is for a child, they then schedule a time later that day. I am sure this saves a lot of time and wasted appointments as well as administration for reception. All the doctors and nurses at this surgery are amazing too - we could not ask for more. I hope you continue to manage appointments this way, and I think other surgeries could really benefit from adopting your model. Thank you so much to all your team.

  8. Review titled Responsive and helpful Reception staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 March 2023

A family member, temporarily away from home, required some information from the Practice urgently, and in a phone call, authorised with the Practice for me to collect it in person. A couple of hours later I arrived and the Receptionist was expecting me with the information ready. What would have been a logistical problem speedily, efficiently and courteously solved, thank you.

  9. Review titled First Class Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 February 2023

I was reminded last week of how fortunate I am to be a patient as this surgery where we are offered a choice of ways to get advice from a clinician - Telephone Advice Line (every weekday 8-10am), a bookable face-to-face or telephone appointment, an online consultation. On Wednesday I opted to call the Telephone Advice Line. I was in a queue, but this went down fairly quickly. The doctor I spoke took time to listen and discuss my problem and agree a plan of action. Half an hour after initiating the call, I came away feeling reassured, with a prescription sent to the pharmacy, a blood test form left at Reception and the knowledge that I would be reviewed regularly. Thank you Paxton Green

  10. Review titled On line response

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 January 2023

Over the last 2 years I have used the online system for repeat prescriptions. The practice has been very responsive to my requests, within 48 hrs except for one occasion. The booking of telephone consultations has worked very well with a response usually within 24 hours and in one case a face to face follow up appointment arranged within 3 days. The practice has been proactive in organising vaccinations, Covid, shingles, flu, pneumonia. Overall it’s use of technology has worked well and reduced my need for face to face appointments to a minimum.
