  1. Review titled Waited 2 hours for my Appointment

by Diana - Posted on 22 April 2024

Had a appointment for 10.55 Never got seen till 12.55 Had to sit in the waiting room for 2 hours feeling poorly and I suffer with Anxiety When I was finally called in because I said I've been waiting 2 hours I was told I needed a chaperone I said fine. Even though I only said I never raised my voice After a few minutes I left in tears my Anxiety kicked in and I had to leave. So sat for 2 hours and still not seen a Gp. I had to wait 8 days for that appointment

We are very sorry that this happened to you. Looks like there was a combination of unusual events. The doctor you were seeing had more than one very complex and ill patients to see before you, causing them to run very late. Someone else should have been aware of how late they were and seen you instead. Also, for some reason, you were not checked in properly so the doctor didn't know you were waiting. As a result they called in the person waiting after you. This combination is very unusual and we would hope would not happen to anyone else. Just to clarify, you were seen by the doctor and while being seen decided to leave mid consultation.

No one needs to sit on the phone! Select the call back option. If a doctor asked you to be seen in 7 days, then they should sort this out for you if there is an issue. Hopefully you asked for a message to be put through to that doctor. If you didn't please send an econsult at 8am on Monday morning with a message for that doctor.

Went in this morning at 8.45 and the lady at reception was extremely sour face and rude. No Hello, morning or Thank you from her. Terrible I said Morning and Thank you even though she was very rude. Staff wonder why they get moaned at if they act like this. I could been rude like her but I wasn't

I am very sorry you didn't feel welcomed when you came to the surgery. I hope that was an exception. I wonder whether the receptionist was trying to deal with something else at the same time?

I am sorry to hear there was a problem with your medications. Please can you ask reception to look into what happened and liaise with Dr Benfield so that I can review the process that led to this situation. This was posted on Tuesday 9th, I am sure we can get your medications to you by the weekend.

  5. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I am really impressed by the responsiveness of this practice, the thorough and kind approach taken by practice staff, and the way that my family (including teenage children) have felt so well supported. The e-consult system has worked very well for us all and meant that we've seen the right person first time. Thank you!

Thank you so much for taking the time to give this lovely feedback. The good thing about econsults is that it gives us a chance to enable the most suitable person to action the request. We have specialists within the practice and we endeavour to keep people seeing the same/usual doctor whenever possible. Although the website says we deal with econsults within 3 working days, we actually try our best to action all econsults within 24 hours.

  6. Review titled No appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

I rang yesterday to try and make an appointment. The telephone recording said, due to a Doctors shortage no appointments were available unless an emergency. When I went into the NHS website it says we are taking on new patients. This makes no sense to me at all.

We had several doctors call in sick that day, putting our ability to provide the normal number of on the day appointments under strain. We continued to see all patients who called with urgent issues such as infections. We would not stop accepting new patients because of a one off event.

  7. Review titled Speedy and efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We often see negative comments on GP surgery websites these days left by disgruntled patients. I have a positive comment to make as follows: Last week I was in town when I suddenly felt quite unwell, I was parked in the road near to the Parkway surgery, I managed to make my way on foot to the surgery, and on arrival I explained to the receptionist how unwell I felt and asked to see a doctor, she went immediately into the surgery to consult with the doctor on duty who ushered me into his surgery, where he gave me an ECG. He confirmed that I had suffered a heart attack and administered medication. He also stated that an ambulance had been summoned and that it would be approximately two hours. He asked the nurse to give me another ECG whilst we waited for the ambulance. The action by these members of staff was professional, efficient and timely and under the circumstances may well have saved my life. I would like to add that they even moved my car into the surgery car park, as I most certainly would collected several parking tickets. I am now back home after spending the week in hospital. My sincere thanks and gratitude go to all concerned.

Thank you very much for your message. I will pass on to the staff your lovely feedback - unless a person has worked in a GP reception it is impossible to really understand what a difficult job they have.

  8. Review titled Service is zero

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Dee - Posted on 11 January 2024

Terrible service, I've waited over a hour un a queue only to be told I need to wait 3 weeks to see a nurse, even though they have messed up my medication, first they said I couldn't have it I need to see someone then got message to say it been sent to the chemist but after going there it had not. Was told I wasnt told that when have it in my messages. Total mess up especially when I was previously told do a e consultant which I did and I'd be able talk to nurse and get my new Hrt prescription Now because they messed up my tablets I have too go without and wait 3 weeks to see the nurse and in the mean time suffer. Clearly don't care about peoples health

I am sorry things haven't worked out with your prescription. Please let our practice manager know your name so that we can prescribe you a month of HRT to see you through until the nurse appointment and look into what happened when you tried originally. You do not need to wait any time on the phone - just select our call back system.

We are sorry to see your wife is unwell. There is no reason for anyone to wait months for a test result. Most people find the best way to contact us is using econsult via our website - most people receive a reply within 24 hours. If you hang on the phone you will get through - hundreds of people do every day. You can walk into either of the surgeries Monday to Friday 8.30am-6.30pm. You can drop in or post us a letter. We are assuming we arranged this test - if it was a hospital consultant please contact the relevant hospital team as any test result should always be discussed with the person who arranged it. Even doctors are allowed a holiday.
