    so trying to get an appointment is a joke. Called 8am on the dot, took ages to get in the que. Waited 20 minutes then when answered was told no appointments. Then told they can pass me to another surgery who will give me an appointment for a call back the next day. Others don't have time to sit on the phone for ages like I can how are they supposed to get an appointment. This happens every time I call for an appointment.

    Good afternoon Anonymous I'm always sorry to hear when we have been unable to meet a patient's expectations. We are continually striving to achieve the right balance between employing more people to answer the phones and increasing clinician appointments (unfortunately it is not an endless supply of funding we have). On our busy days we can receive in excess of over 1,000 telephone calls, which I suspect most call centres would need to employ many tens of staff to answer. All of our reception team are trained to offer appropriate appointments either with ourselves or other practices within our primary care network (with whom we collaboratively provide additional access clinics). The later is particularly useful when a telephone appointment may be more appropriate than a traditional face to face one. In order to improve access further, we are in the process of negotiating a new telephone supplier, with improved functionality, including a ring back function to reduce the time people may need to spend waiting on the phone.
