  1. Review titled Waste Of Space

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been trying to sort out a minor issue with a sick note for a week now, a simple clerical error however causing me issues as I need the note to be paid. After being on hold for 40 minutes I was told to call back at 8am and book an appointment. They want me to waste an appointment someone else needs for a clerical error to be fixed. No wonder nobody can get an appointment

  4. Review titled Disgraceful

I have been ringing the practise for the past 5 days at 08:00 on the dot and everytine I get the same answer! “Try again tomorrow at 8, all the appointments are taken up”. The receptionist are rude and have no sympathy, they do not even try to understand how much of a struggle it is to see a doctor. I had one receptionist hang up on me! They also say to come in and make an appointment, people are sick hence why they are calling and they need to come to the practise to make a appointment?! That is ridiculous! I also got told there are only 2 doctors in and once again it feels like the patients have to suffer because they do not have enough doctors. A waste of time!

  5. Review titled Awful bedside manner

Rated 1 star out of 5

Got to see a doctor who was extremely dismissive. Told me they wouldn't give a sick note because I clearly wasn't disabled, did no examination nor ask any questions was told to take paracetamol and ibuprofen. Refused to write a fit note for quidance to give my workplace, stating that if my work cannot be understanding then I should get another job because yes at 50 years of age just getting another job is easy to to do. Was in and out within a few minutes. Rude, dismissive and if I was of an unstable mind I would have left there feeling there is no hope. Have now changed doctors and booked in to see a chiropractor for a full examination which obviously will cost me but doctors seem to want the money without actually doing the job. Wrote an email to the general practioner manager and have recieved no response at all. Absolute waste of time. Place needs shutting down because they really don't care. I went in noone in the waiting rooms and carpark empty yet people are struggling to get appointments a disgrace to the hard working professionals that do exist. Avoid at all cost and I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a sympathetic ear.

Dear Patient You were issued with a Fit Note ('sick note') by a physiotherapist working at another organisation. The physiotherapist assessed your problem and concluded that you were fit to do light duty work. You were unhappy because your employer did not follow this advice and so you came to see the GP. The GP correctly explained that Fit Notes are advisory and employers are not obliged to act on them. It was explained to you that this is a matter of dispute between employee and employer and one which we cannot become involved in. It was suggested to you that you seek guidance from the Citizens Advice Bureau on your rights as an employee. You did submit a complaint to the Practice Manager and this responded to within 48 hours.

  6. Review titled Can't even book in advance now

Rated 2 stars out of 5

So rang to see if I could book an appointment for a day next week when I am not at work.its not important that I see someone the same day as it's an issue where I expect to be referred. Didn't even try to ring first thing as you can't get in the queue never mind get through. So I get through only to be told I can't book in advance I just have to ring at 8 in the morning, or call in at 8 to book for same day. Receptionist was pleasant and at the end of the day it's not their fault but this is just ludicrous. I've not been to the surgery for at least 3 years but have been told by a family member that for saying you can't get an appointment the waiting room is never full like it used to be. Seriously thinking of moving to a practice that is nearer to where I live.

Firstly please accept my apologies as we want all of our patients to have a positive experience when using their GP surgery. There is no straight forward answer for the concerns you raise and it is the biggest issue that most GP practices in the country face. If you were to look at the National GP survey appointment availability is always in the top 3 concerns for patients. You mentioned about lack of appointments and whilst I understand your perception, we for example last week delivered 1100 GP appointments in 5 days. These are a mixture of face to face and telephony appointments. Of those 26 appointments were did not attends by patients which could have been given to other patients in need. There will always be that insatiable demand for appointments no matter how many you make available to patients. We have not barred patients from attending the practice and this is a popular misconception by patients. The remit around telephone appointments came from NHS England and was not something that was introduced by the practice of their own volition. Many patients have found that telephone appointments have been much easier as many appointments do not need to be face-to-face. Only 23% of all appointments require a face-to-face appointment. We also delivered an additional 555 nurse appointments bringing the total appointments delivered by the practice to 1655. This means that to deliver those appointments all of our clinical rooms are occupied throughout the opening of the surgery and we have no more room capacity at present. Today we have 116 GP appointments available to book for on the day. We are reviewing our appointment's structure continually and ways to improve access for patients so feedback from patients such as yourself is important. We have moved to on the day to ensure that all patients have fair access to appointments and to reduce the number of patients who book and then subsequently do not attend. We are working hard to look at ways to improve access and this is continually evolving.

  8. Review titled Can't get to see a doctor ever ever ever

It is impossible to get an appointment. My partner and I have started phoning on the dot of 8am, and but when we get through, all the appointments are gone. Why, then, is the surgery taking on new patients according to the NHS Osmaston surgery webpage? And why are the car park and the waiting room almost totally empty now when they used to be rammed?

  9. Review titled some good experiences and some bad

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 June 2023

after reading all these reviews and through my own personal experiences, i dont completely agree that its a terrible practice, as i have had some amazing doctors help me when i really needed it, however, sometimes there are loads of issues with the callback system, i have recently ran out of a medication that i cant handle the withdrawls from, and i called the orderline to explain, and they said everything was okay and being sent through, then i get a message saying that it cant be placed, so i call up and i get a call back, they do ring twice which is good, but the hours in which are very varied, mine was 12-8, i am a deaf individual who struggles with callbacks and i cant figure out how to work the appointment thing on the app, so i am trying to make sure i get an appointment today or im off my medication for a while, which really cant happen, i wish that i was just able to message someone instead of waiting for a callback, and just tell them that im okay on my medication and that i just need the prescription, all other aspects are good but the problem with appointments would probably be lessened if they included messaging services, for people who just need checkins or like me who cant ring up at 8 and wait or they just cant hear the phone. overall an okay practice but defo needs to organise something better than callback services, i think many deaf patients would agree with me.

  10. Review titled Terrible Practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 February 2023

Only 3000 characters to review this place. Not enough words. Never seem to be able to get an appointment. Always get told to call back first thing in the morning but when you call in the morning you can't get through because of the queue limit. And if you are lucky enough to get in the queue by the time you get through all the appointments are gone and you are told to do the same thing the next day. They won't allow you to book a appointment in advance it's only on the day. But yet one of the rude GP's told me off because I rang to extend a sick note and she said I should'nt leave a gap between sick note. She also said if I ring again she won't sign me off and I need to get my work to sign me off. I complained to the receptionist when I called back and it seemed like she has a lot of complaints but her husband is one of the other doctors so nothing happens. I explained I can never get through so what can I do and she said I should pre book appointments. Such a terrible GP. I had to redial over 30 times first thing in the morning just to get in the telephone queue. Ridiculous. Going through mental health issues at the moment and contemplating seeking help, but then I'm worried that rude GP will just tell me off again or I just won't be able to get through to anyone which makes my depression even worse. Only came on here to look for another GP to register to and figured I'd leave a review whilst I'm online. Such ashame. I pay a lot of tax out of my pay but seems like I can even get a simple consultation in return. Feel sorry for the staff who have to work there and have no control in how it's run. Also feel sorry for the vulnerable people who must be suffering because of these terrible places.

We are sorry to hear of your complaint though we have a robust complaints process and we would advise all patients who have a genuine concern to raise this so that it can be investigated. Unfortunately as you have chosen to remain anonymous we are unable to investigate. All practices struggle with the volume of telephone calls and we endeavor to have as many staff available to answer calls to alleviate that pressure but as with all businesses we are susceptible to sickness. I will point out that none of the receptionists are married to a GP partner so that is not factually correct.
