Review titled Above and beyond in an emergency
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Maxine Robb - Posted on 27 February 2025
On Monday 24 February I was feeling unwell with discomfort in my upper abdomen however, I had a INR appointment to attend at 3.10pm by the time I got to the surgery the pain became unbearable. My INR was taken a GP came into to see me in a matter of minutes, examined me. Printed off my medical history and referred me to A & E. I was admitted the same night and still undergoing tests. I couldn't walk to the car so nurse a practice nurse wheeled me to the car. I would get use to using the online system every day at 7.30am and normally get an appointment the same day. If your using the phone it will take obviously take a long time for it to be answered. So if your not aware of the online system speak to a receptionist who will gladly assist you. What is the alternative to your GP, go to urgent care which you will wait for 4 hours plus. Both the staff and doctors are doing an amazing job under very difficult circumstances and a review of 2.0 is very poor. What if we were in another country where we had to pay for all our treatment. We all have it good here in the UK but I fear we have an "entitled generation" so sad😔

The new system is working well for me. Twice this month I have managed to get a same day appointment.

Review titled Unbounded help

Coming back from Oxford Churchill after 9 hrs of abdominal surgery, that had gone wrong. Placed in the care of the Healthcare Assistants at Oakridge. For the past 10yrs. The 10yr anniversary was on the 16th of June. Visiting the Healthcare Assistance has been a life saver to me. Once/twice a week. Cleaning and dressing my wound which refuses to heal up. Reporting when its in trouble. Without there help. I don't know. I cant thank them enough.

Visited today to have pneumococcal jab. Also offered shingles jab - which I had. I had a query re leg problems following recent knee op. The nurse was sufficiently concerned to call GP. He looked and prescribed as needed. Receptionist then gave me the written prescription. Thanks so much to all involved for such an efficient, caring and respectful response. At times when there is so much negativity towards the practice and health care generally, I cannot praise the staff enough. Thanks.

In view of on-going problems, I have needed to have contact with the practice quite a bit over the past 3 months. I cannot praise all the staff enough. The Receptionists have tried to help as much as possible. The Practice Nurse and Advanced Nurse Practitioners have taken the time to explain things as have the GPS I have seen. Of course there are problems with the time taken for a call to be answered and the wait for appointments but that seems to be the same wherever you go. We should applaud when things go well. The steady stream of negative comments must be so disheartening for those trying to do a good job with limited resources. Thankyou to all at Oakridge Park Medical Centre.

Review titled Difficult times

It is extremely difficult to get an appointment with this practice. They are very good at contacting a patient when they need to; for screenings etc., but when a patient needs to speak to them - nothing. I will not attend any preventative screenings, until they respond to my needs. This practice has all forms of online communication disabled. The NHS is broken and this practice has died
