Review titled Exceptional Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Tina Ismail - Posted on 27 December 2024
I just wanted to express the prompt wonderful care my auntie has been given within your practice over the last few months. From the reception team through to the Acp to the Gp and others involved in her care. It certainly has been an emotional rollercoaster for my auntie but everyone in the team has gone the extra mile to explain steps thoroughly and ensure she understands clearly the scan results and next steps. The GP has such a kind and caring manner listening and taking his time to address my auntie’s multiple issues she was never rushed. You are all amazing and it’s lovely to see others passionate about making a difference in their jobs.

Review titled Time, patience and understanding
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 March 2025
I wanted to ensure Oaklands and indeed my Dr in particular, who I am not permitted to name unfortunately, received the wonderful review they deserve. Over the past 6 months I have been in regular contact due to several health issues and at each stage I have been treated with kindness, support and efficiency. I hope that I am on the road to recovery but I will forever be grateful to The Health Centre. Thanks everyone :-)

Review titled Awful experience again
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 28 December 2024
Watched the doctor park in the carpark 15 minutes after appointment was supposed to be, the doctor then asked when I came in at 9.20 (20 minutes after appointment time) what I was there for when it was a follow up appointment, following an extremely lengthy e-consult. I took time off work to attend the appointment, I'd spent time filling in the e-conult following being signposted by another service to my gp, I filled in with the relevant information and had attended the surgery previously for a condition which has a lifetime impact. During the appointment the doctor made presumptuous statements about how a medical condition would affect me to deter a referral, it was aggravating and distressing.

Review titled Awful service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Darren Ellis - Posted on 18 December 2024
The service at Oaklands has been less than satisfactory on many occasions. The last issue really was the last straw. I managed to leave my Levothyroxine at home on my trip to Mallorca. In all the years I have had to take these, it is the first time I have ever forgotten them. This is totally my fault, of which I feel stupid. Unfortunately, after a couple of days without, I fail to function as I would like, becoming extremely lethargic. On arrival in Palma, I called your surgery directly and spoke with a receptionist. I explained what had happened and asked how we could overcome the problem. I must have put every solution known to man to her, including a mailed note from a Dr that I could hand to a medical person in Palma to show I was being truthful. Unfortunately, she was under trained, and not particularly interested in my position. She informed me that I go on econsult and I would get a quick response. I knew this was here way of palming me off. The econsult informed me that I would get a response before 6.30 on Wednesday. This wasn’t acceptable. Surprise, nothing came. I went to a local pharmacy, and showed them a picture of the tablets, I explained the situation. They gave me the dosage I needed to finish my trip in a healthy manner. As they explained, it wasn’t as if I was asking for a tablet that could be addictive. I informed the person , and econsult, that I was a living donor, so have significantly given back to the NHS. ( for your info, I never mention this, it was a last gasp attempt to get some action from your surgery) Keeping myself healthy, is good for all especially the NHS who invested heavily in my kidney to the recipient. I explained to the person concerned, if I was forced to call the renal unit, they would be fuming, she didn’t care. The answer was always No. Following on from the above, I have never seen or been allocated a Dr at your practice. How poor is that, when you happily take good fees for your clients from the NHS/ Government. You are still taking on patients, and Servicemen, yet look at your google review, they are disgusting. You don’t even respond to them. I manage to run several large businesses, and I can tell you, I would be out of business if I was as incompetent as Oaklands. By the way, I certainly don’t blame the person who i spoke with. Oaklands needs to find the right people at front of house, then train them properly. I do look forward to a response that can instil me some confidence in your business. For the record, I never write to other businesses in this way. I have just found this too much to pass over. This mail has been sent to the practice owner, the practice manager and assistant twice, yet still no response from the surgery. look at there google reviews, they are extremally poor.

Review titled Caused me ongoing pain
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 22 January 2025
I went for a covid vacine with my wife after both receiving a text from our GP surgery to do so. We follwed the doctors instruction and went. After receiving the injection on 26/10/2024, I've been suffering for months with upper arm pain exactly where the injection happened. I can't lay down on that side. I went to the GP, who said a lot of people are suffering with the same issue after having covid injections, and it could take years to heal. So he refered me to Physio. The Physio said it's common for them to see people who have had covid injections. The person giving the injection dropped the needle he was about to use on me, so got a new one. I feel that it was rushed. The staff were very rude to my wife before giving us the injection, questioning her on why she should be there as she looks younger than most. My wife refused to go into her medical background, (epilepsy) and it became an awkward stalemate. We just followed the doctors instructions to attend for a vaccine. Grateful to have been able to have one, but worry potential side effects are not discussed before hand, and actual side-effects are not captured and reported. If both the GP and Physio are saying a lot of people are suffering from sideffects from the injection... how is that getting fed back taken onboard and methods/training updated?

Review titled Ultrasound Nurse
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Rebecca Miles - Posted on 08 October 2024
I am not a patient at this surgery but I was referred for an ultrasound and I was impressed by her efficiency. She explained the procedure and what she was doing very clearly and put me at ease. I would like to thank her as I had been anxious and been kept waiting at reception but the service I received from her was brilliant.

Review titled Barriers to accessing any service for elderly
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Margaret Iveson - Posted on 27 September 2024
Almost impossible to speak to and receive advice and treatment without completing an electronic referral or phoning and waiting for a long time. My husband cannot do either as deaf, and I struggle. I want to complain and tried to find how to, but cannot find a way to complain on their systems

Review titled service has gone downhill in the last 2 years
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 27 September 2024
Waiting for an ear irrigation since 9th august and now told it will be November maybe. 3 months. I can't get a hearing test until this is done. The clinic does not seem to be managed in a sensible way. They phone you and if you're not available (say at work) to take the call you miss your slot! This is a crazy process. Why is your name not just added to the list at the beginning ... like other appointments? They suggested I go privately. Very disappointing. Staff are good when you get to see them. It's a poor process which lets them down.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The practice is great but Econsult is a disaster. I don't see myself as daft but Getting anywhere on Econsult seems impossible! I've been going around in circles for 30 minutes and have given up!
