  1. Review titled One awful receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anon - Posted on 14 March 2023

There are some lovely staff at this practise, but one awful awful receptionist who talks to all patients in the rudest of tones and is very blunt and uncaring. The tone of speech borders on aggressive. Every time I call the surgery I dread this receptionist being on the end of the phone. "May I take your name please" is an appropriate way to ask a patient for their name, not shouting "N A M E" down the phone. I work in the NHS in a clinical role and would never dream of being so rude to patients. I have elderly family members who use this doctors surgery and they have independently told me the same view on this receptionist and told me that they have delayed seeking help for medical problems for fear of having to speak to this person.

  2. Review titled Incredibly rude receptionist

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I’ve been with this surgery for years and they’ve always been very efficient and friendly. Today however, after I listened to the automated message in the telephone queue requesting that all patients remain polite and courteous with the staff… I was greeted by a lady answering the line who was rude, abrupt and insensitive. She had no care for any politeness, just fired direct questions at me and then went silent. When I asked if she was still there she simply barked “I’m looking for an appointment!”. Perhaps this was a bad day, while I appreciate service pressures are high (I too work for the NHS), if you request that patients are polite and courteous then please at least deliver the same in return. The doctors and nurses, and the prescription team at the surgery are brilliant.

  3. Review titled Very unhelpful

Rated 1 star out of 5

Having waited 22 minutes in a phone queue I was told a cough that had persisted for over 14 weeks did not warrant a doctors consultation and would be referred for a phone call from a local pharmacist. Despite recent television campaign urging those with a cough persisting over 3 weeks to speak to their GP .

Thank you for your feedback R Halliday. I am sorry you feel we have fallen short of your expectations regarding your health. I have given your feedback to our reception team and asked them ensure they ask for the duration of the symptoms before referring callers via the Community Pharmacy Referral Scheme. Thank you, Dee Campbell, Practice Manager.

  4. Review titled Mostly Efficient

Rated 4 stars out of 5

North Petherton Surgery is a fairly small clinic, however it is quite good in terms of the efficiency of the process when you arrive, I would however say I did need to on multiple different occasions make sure things had gone through, by phoning up or visiting the clinic, this involved a referral to another NHS service and submitting a form of a travel vaccination, I also was not notified when I ought to collect my medication, however this aside, they tend to answer the phone fairly quickly and my issues so far have been mostly resolved.
