The reception staff are lovely and actively go out of their way to make sure you are seen (even if full) in emergencies such as today when my little one had a raging temp! Doctors, nurses, pharmacists have all been great and seem to genuinely care and give their time. With all the stories around how nobody can get appointments at GPs and the lack of care - this is totally opposite to the amazing caring service me and my family have received at Newbold Medical Surgery. Thank you all to the staff for their continued hard work and efforts for the local community

  2. Review titled What has happened to this Surgery?

Rated 1 star out of 5

how ill does one need to be to be able to get a same day urgent gp appointment that doesn't qualify for a&e? having rung the surgery on friday to request a same day appointment with a gp, and gone through a questionnaire to assess, the clinical receptionist stated I could only see a prescribing nurse. on attending, said nurse having asked questions about my reasons for the appointment (very lose, watery bowels/unable to hold anything in), issued a sample bottle and requested blood tests and informed me that the gp will then see me in a fortnights time. my same day appointment was important. I have started a new job some 100 miles away and work at home a couple of days a week, and the blood test appointment first offered I couldn't take but the gp still wouldn't have been available any earlier. my 'request' for codeine phosphate written on my paper script which helps somewhat in buying me some time to get to a toilet, was ignored. the nurse wanted to get the results first before anything further. I had pointed out the the codeine was of benefit to the receptionist when I booked the appointment, and also the nurse. this would have been logged by both. having come home from my appointment and speaking with my partner without being prescribed anything (not even my codeine that I have ran out of) due to the nurse wanting results back, my partner spoke to the receptionist and informed them that I have severe anxiety and that I'm not forceful enough, and how important the appointment was to get some help/medication/advice. therefore a completely wasted appointment. a receptionist rang me back and stated that all procedures had been followed, and that standard practice was to see a prescribing nurse before a gp. I was then told to either ring 111 if it 'worsens over the weekend' or, to go to the pharmacy for an 'over the counter' remedy: codeine is prescription only. on saturday afternoon, I left my house to go on a 40 minute car journey having not eaten or drank for a few hours. having stopped urgently on the a46 to empty watery bowels with traffic passing me at 70mph+ and again, not eating or drinking until I returned safely home at 9pm, I am left bewildered that I wasn't prescribed codeine during my appointment. what illness does this surgery deem urgent enough to require a same day appointment with a gp who will prescribe for short-term benefit (whilst awaiting test results) I went eight hours without drinking/eating saturday so as to be able to leave my home, which isn't of benefit to my health in this hot weather but you have made it my only option. I touched upon having to plan my route whenever I leave the house (which I only do if absolutely necessary - work is) so as to pass toilets en route. The indignity is embarrassing, so is having to describe my symptoms over and over to different people is, too.

  3. Review titled Let down

Concerns notractice listened to by practice manager. Completely side stepped the issue and not apologised for the action of practice. I need medical help currently and needed to see my GP without feeling intimidated. I've had to cancel a very urgent appointment I had booked a month previously. I still don't have an appointment which I desperately need. This surgery doesn't respect your wishes. If as a patient I don't wish to have invasive blood tests and on the day, after five years ago, they being imposed upon me, I expect my rights to be adhered to. A surgery is supposed to be a safe, inviting and caring space. You have failed me as a patient. Meanwhile I continue to need medical help.

  4. Review titled Outstanding service, always

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had never really used the NHS that much prior to my pregnancy and afterwards. Having previously been at a surgery where I had repeated bad experiences, I am constantly so grateful to be registered at the Newbold Verdon Medical Centre. From the reception staff who really go out their way to accommodate you, to the incredible doctors who have taken such good care of me and my daughter. I feel listened to and can see they take what I have said seriously with fast referrals to other parts of the NHS. I was lucky to have a consistent midwife who was incredible, and referred me to extra scans which has ultimately saved my baby’s life. I truly have had nothing but incredible service, thank you.
