I had not had reason to consult my GP for a long time and having sadly seen some negative reviews etc, I wondered, bearing in mind the understaffing that the practice needs to contend with, what my experience would be. Well, it was wonderful - I successfully accessed econsult on the 2nd time of trying, I received a text within a couple of hours to expect a call and then was phoned by my GP the same day. The GP took time to listen and explore treatment. All very impressive - especially given how busy they are! A big thank you!

Review titled My experiences of health anxiety and GP support

My Nan passed away in October 2022 from aggressive brain tumours. In early 2023 I started experiencing high level anxiety, at the time it was not relating to anything specific, however, it then developed into health related anxiety - more specifically fears around cancer and tumours. I was incredibly scared, thought I was going to die and didn't know where to turn. I had been to the GP a couple of times prior and had been given support on how to manage it. However, I attended an out of hours GP Streaming service who provided me with more support. The next day I contacted the GP again as I was really struggling, the anxiety was debilitating. The GP called me and asked me a lot of questions and then asked if I could go in a see her later that day. That appointment with the GP was life changing - she was incredible, listened to me, understood me and what I was going through and provided me with huge support to get better. The GP prescribed me some medication to calm me down and relax me and then worked with me on a weekly basis to support my anxiety and adjust my medication when needed. The GP remained in contact with me for over a month and provided me with continuous care (something which is so rare nowadays). I am now a few months out of the worst bout of anxiety I have ever experienced and I put so much of it down to how amazing my GP was. I am so incredibly grateful for what she did for me.

Review titled The NHS is open - but not in Needham market

I find it saddening and frustrating that the message is constantly being pushed that “our nhs is open” . This does not seem to apply to Needham County practice who seem resilient at doing the opposite and keeping patients out . If you phone you get told to hang up unless it’s an emergency, if you try E consult as advised it’s always closed. I twice tried to ask for help at reception and although the reception staff were polite and nice the message was they were unable to help . This is not a short term problem and if it relates to staffing shortages surely they need a triage system that simply is just no phone 111 if you are worried. 111 is not suitable for everything- sometimes you just need to see or even speak to a doctor and even being able to schedule that in would be help. This must be the 7 or 8th time I have tried for the same reason.

My wife who has Multiple Sclerosis was having symptoms which did not seem related, within two weeks she had a blood test, two weeks later a scan. The diagnosis was made, medication was provided all other things were eliminated thank goodness. The pharmacy are always helpful and I can’t thank them enough for the work they do, they always seem to be run off their feet. I can’t understand all the negativity you read on Neighbourhood web sites. I honestly believe if treat people (no matter who they are) the same way you would want to be treated then you can’t go wrong. I know it’s a pain having to wait in a call queue so if it’s a long one put the phone. down and try a bit later, people seem to want everything now, they just can’t wait. If it’s urgent or serious then ring 111, take a ride to A&E or dial 999 I review as I fine and I find them to be excellent.

Review titled Polite, thorough & understanding

I moved to the area about two and half years ago. I couldn’t fault my previous practice. It’s not until now that I have felt the need to contact the centre. I totally understand the stress & pressures that the NHS has been under in those two and half years with some bad press. I simply expressed my thanks to all of the staff at Needham Market Medical Centre. As for the service that I received I could not fault it at all. It left me feeling confident in any future contact that I may have to undertake. The Reception staff, first point of contact, and in my opinion the most important point of contact were outstanding, polite & understanding. From there the service I have found has been excellent. Thank you for your service. Keep it up.

I have used this practice when my local Claydon practice closed without notice. They took us on straight away and I have used the practice for a variety of reasons over the last year. Each time, the staff have been caring and really well organised, making my treatments or advice quick to access. The staff have always been lovely and I always feel respected each time I call or visit. The online consultation service is also really good so that you don’t have to hang onto the phone line. The staff have always gotten to me quickly and I feel very lucky to be under this surgery. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
