  1. Review titled Very Rude and Unempathetic Reception Staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 March 2024

I had a been diagnosed with Breast Cancer and had a recent surgery. I have been queueing for few days and could not get through due to the long telephone queue and when I get through been turned away for a telephone appoinment to speak to my GP the only explanation that you get is that they do not have any appoinment available. The receptionist answering the call has been very abrupt and unempathetic saying that they have got a lot of people with the same case as I am that won't be able to get an appoinment. She did not even suggested that I could be seen by another GP or a nurse practitioner until I told her that I have been in pain and would like a bit of empathy. If the suggestion of being seen by another GP or nurse practioner was suggested beforehand then it wouldn't have been a problem. She was very rude without an inch of compassion and empathy. I am wondering how Mount Chambers surgery recruit and train their reception staff and how their booking system works. Coz it does not reflect the shared values of all NHS organisations - Working together for patients, respect and dignity, commitment to quality of care, compassion, improving lives, and that everyone matters. I am hoping that the Practice Manager and the GP partners will look into this ongoing problem.

  3. Review titled 5 day week

Why is this practice not open at the weekend? It is nigh on impossible to get an appointment to see anyone unless you are unemployed, retired or work night shift. Even when you manage to get an appointment it sometimes so far off as to render it useless

Now point blank refusing to book advance appointments. Instead appointments are given out each morning and people are required to ring first thing and hope for the best.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback to allow us the opportunity to respond. We do book appointments in advance and have a variety of ways you can access appointments, either by telephone, online once registered and via our new PATCHS system which allows you to also communicate online with the surgery. Details of this can be found on our website. If you would like me to look into your specific problem then please send an email to admin.mchambers@nhs.net. Practice Manager

  5. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Whilst I understand that everyone's experiences are different, and unique to them, I wanted to provide my review of the practice because I have only ever received first class service. Of course it is hard at 8am to get through to the surgery, it is opening time so it will be, but with perseverance, I always get through and manage to get an appointment the same day. Today I was 33rd in the queue and I was still offered an appointment. Of course families with young children may struggle to call at 8 am due to getting children ready for school and I have been there too in the past but I always and still do, get up earlier if I need to call the surgery. All staff at the practice are professional and courteous and in my 23 years of being a patient at this surgery, I have seen many of them. I have always got an appointment the same day when I've needed one and I find that all the GP's are equally as professional, knowledgeable and courteous. I have never come away dis-satisfied and I feel supported. Today, I called at 8, received a telephone consultation with a GP before 9am, and a treatment plan for my concern was actioned. I was more than happy with this as I am working so needing to leave work to attend the surgery would have been awkward. I think the surgery caters well for working adults with telephone consultations, late evening and weekend appointments. Keep doing what you are doing Mount chambers staff as I respect you all in everything that you do for us all. Thank you!

  6. Review titled Appointment booking system is totally broken

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 September 2022

It is sad to see that this surgery has not responded to the concerns others have left on this site. It is a true reflection of how little it cares about its patients. The clinical staff are good when you get to speak or see them however the booking system is totally broken. Everyone has to call at 8am as they will only book appointments on the day because there are to few to pre-book. I have had to do this 4 times in the past couple of months for various reasons, each time I have had to wait over 20 minutes. Last week I received a text stating the doctor wanted a telephone discussion with me (no face to face appointments are offered) and to call a week later at 8 am on Wednesday or Thursday. I did call this morning waited the standard 20 minutes to be told the doctor wasn't in and to call back tomorrow. This is totally unacceptable and unnecessary as other GP practices do better. It's time the management sort this out or are replaced as they are failing patients and the staff. It is no surprise that many of the receptionists have left and the new ones come across as rude. They have an impossible job to do while working with this broken system. I have no confidence that I will be able to see the doctor this week. If my condition worsens I will be considering legal action.

Dear Patient, We apologise that you have had a poor experience of trying to obtain and appointment. We are constantly looking at ways to improve our booking system due to the high demand for appointments. We now have added advance bookable appointments online, and appointments are also able to be requested via our new PATCHS platform which you can access through our website. If you would us to look into your concerns specifically then please email the practice direct and we will contact you. Practice Manager
