I pay monthly for my prescriptions and order them to be delivered. For the last 2 months this has not happened. Awaiting GP approval. Ring and cant get through. Havent seen my gp for 3 years. Out of hours now refuse to see me stating you need a check up with your own gp. Funny that.... no appts.

  3. Review titled Swift and efficient service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by PAUL BRACHER - Posted on 31 January 2023

At 11.30am on 21st Dec I phoned for an appointment for a sudden and reasonably urgent issue. I was immediately given an appointment for 7.30pm that same day - admittedly not at Mirfield surgery but at another local surgery, which I thought was fair enough. I was very well received at that surgery and immediately put on a course of antibiotics. Before New Year, Mirfield asked me to visit them to provide certain samples. Following this, I was given an appointment to see my doctor to discuss matters. Everything was clearly explained and he referred me to specialists at Hospital. I was asked to provide another sample. Following these results, my doctor phoned me to talk about these results and also again to talk through matters generally. By now, the hospital had phoned and had given me a speedy appointment as well. All in all, I could not have wished for better service from Mirfield or the hospital. This also follows on from a very positive experience when I phoned on behalf of a house guest in summer 2022. He was given a call by a doctor within 2 hours of my call and, following that, was invited to visit the doctor immediately for examination. Swift, personable and efficient service on both occasion.

Dear Patient I am sorry to see that you have struggled to contact the Practice via the telephone. We are currently experiencing increased demand on our telephone lines and our patient services team has been working very hard to answer calls under the additional pressure. I recognise that difficulties in accessing the Practice can be extremely frustrating for our patients and I apologise unreservedly for any upset or inconvenience. You can also request an appointment by attending the Practice reception from 8am or using our online option Kind regards Patient Experience Team

  5. Review titled Can't get appointments, unhelpful staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 July 2023

Both myself and my wife have been trying to get appointments now for the past two weeks. Their phone service cuts off calls, and this is by their admission a problem that's been going on for a while, but they have no idea if it will be fixed. If you manage to get through, the staff are very indifferent and uninterested, and have on a couple of occasions actually cut the call off, or left the call to do something else. The idea is to ring at 8.30am to try and throw your lot in with the rest to get an appointment. The problem is their phone service doesn't work well, if you ring up at 8.29 you're in a different queue, which just rings out forever, if you manage to ring and the call connects at 8.31, you'll find you are 20-30 in line, and after an hour on the call waiting, *if* it answers, the rather apathetic/bored staff member tells you to ring back tomorrow. Aside from this, their opening times do not match what they have online, or on their door, and often they are closed when you try to visit. You are not allowed to order prescriptions via telephone, and instead must use a third party app. However the app doesn't have the prescriptions on, so you need to book an appointment to get it put on. When you finally get a doctor (one of the tens of doctors in this small surgery, I haven't seen the same one twice) to agree you should have a repeat prescription, you find out you can't *have* that item on repeat, and that you have to order it via telephone call, of which they then berate you for ringing them to order a prescription. The only reason we are with them is we haven't finished reviewing the nearby surgeries, to find one that doesn't like having patients. I would recommend this surgery only if all other surgeries in the United Kingdom had vanished, and if I couldn't get a flight to somewhere that used witch-doctors and faith healers, because I imagine they would be somewhat more reliable, and have the same amount of care.
