I would just like to thank the Millbrook team for helping with a very last minute request. The team were professional and responsive despite the late request and dealt with the matter within 30 minutes! What a fantastic service! Thank you

Review titled Don't be late or you will be sanctioned!
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I live just over 7 miles from the surgery. In April I had a morning appointment at the surgery to give blood for a blood test. This procedure takes less than five minutes. I left home later than planned, was held up by traffic, had difficulty finding a parking space, and was held up for a minute because the door to the waiting room was locked or blocked in some way which required the receptionist to leave her desk to come to open it. I arrived at the reception desk at about three minutes after the time of my appointment. Another patient started to discuss their issue with the receptionist who after a minute said she should maybe deal with me first which she did. She informed the system or someone that I had arrived. I sat down to wait. After two or three minutes the receptionist told me that my appointment had been cancelled as I was more than five minutes late. I hadn't been more than five minutes late. Nonetheless I was obliged to make a fifteen mile round trip by going home and returning two hours later. Even if I had been five minutes late this rule, of which, by the way, I was not aware, is unreasonable in a rural community where agricultural vehicles, lorries, and roadworks on our narrow roads commonly cause unexpected delays. I can understand how people not respecting appointments cause difficulties in a busy surgery but there was only one other person in the waiting room at the time and I would be surprised if my being a few minutes late for my five minute long appointment caused any difficulty for anyone, the use of a bit of discretion and consideration would not have been amiss. And five minutes is an unfair and unreasonably short delay to give rise to punishment. On the following day I communicated my dismay at my treatment to the surgery by telephone but this has not engendered any reaction.

Rarely able to speak to my gp. It can take days for them to do something as simple as repeat a prescription.

I have contacted Millbrook Surgery with a problem through askmyGP, and they replied within half an hour offering me an appointment the same day. Once I arrived, the staff was attentive and the doctor was informative and professional. I am very grateful we have such great surgery near me.
