Took elderly friend at 3pm as had rang 111 and had waited a number of hours with no return call. Was seen within 15 mins and given medication immediately. Back home within 1 hour.

  2. Review titled Nine hour wait time!

My disabled son had a bad fall at school. He was assessed by a 999 handler over the phone and we were told to take him to urgent care. We booked him in and were quickly taken to a triage assistant not a clinician. She took some basic observations and asked some questions. After this she spoke to a clinician and despite severe bruising to his face we were told he couldn’t see a clinician for 9 hours which would be about 3am. We said that’s ridiculous, he needs rest, phoned 111 in the morning and were told to take him to A and E in Leicester where he was fully assessed by a doctor and x rayed to ensure no fractures or brain injury. I’m sorry this urgent care centre seemed a waste of time for us as he needed a clinical assessment not a quick look over by a non-clinician. 111 and A and E is better.

  4. Review titled Very disappointed

Following a trip to a local nail bar for gel nails, I developed an infection in the nail of my thumb. On Saturday I noticed it had started to turn green, was throbbing, extremely painful and very red and hot I visited my local chemist for advice and was told by the pharmacist to go to an emergency care centre immediately as ii needed antibiotics and possibly draining. As I didnt have transport that day I took a taxi to Loughborough walk in centre. Following a 2 hour triage, I was assessed by a male nurse who was very dismissive, told me it wasn't that bad, squeezed it and then said I didnt need antibiotics and just to get some tcp and sent me away. Following these instructions, I duly bought tcp and bathed it regularly, alternating with salt water solutions The next day, the pain was worse, i noticed that the infection was starting to smell very bad too! On Monday (yesterday); I went to see my GP who said I had a severe infection and gave me a weeks worth of strong antibiotics, telling me to return should symptoms get worse. This could have been avoided if I had been given antibiotics at the walk-in centre and a correct assessment (the pharmacist had already ascertainedthat i needed antibiotics). Maybe further training is required for some of your triage staff!

Arrived Sunday morning and used the check in screen. Reviewed by triage nurse within 15 minutes and then by doctor after a further 10 minutes. Team booked me into Glenfield hospital and I was on my way within 45 minutes of arriving at Loughborough. Exceptional and thorough service thank you. Three days in hospital and now recovering well at home thanks to NHS care

  9. Review titled Awful experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

Been here 4.5 hours and still not been triaged despite difficulty breathing. Staff have been rude and the triage process doesn't seem to be working. People are being called who aren't even here and the people who need to be seen, can't seem to get a look in. We keep being told that there are 'x' number of people infront of us. But that number never changes as the hours go by.

Dear patient, Thank you so much for taking the time and for providing your honest feedback which is appreciated regarding your recent experience with us at the Loughborough Urgent Treatment Centre especially as you were poorly with breathing difficulties. I am the Patient and Public Engagement Lead for DHU Healthcare, and I am both disappointed and sorry to hear that your experience with us was not positive on this occasion specifically in relation to the waiting time, lack of triage and staff attitude. If you would like to contact us directly regarding your experience then we could investigate your concerns in more detail to better understand and learn how we can do better in the future then please do not hesitate to contact our Urgent and Emergency Care Clinical Governance Team on 0300 1000 407 (should you get the answerphone message then please leave your name and contact details and a member of the team will call you back within office hours – Mon-Fri, 0900-1700) or via email at dhuurgentcare.clinicalgovernance@nhs.net. The team will then be able to take more details from you so that they can investigate why this has happened, and they will investigate your concerns further and feedback and as I say can help us to better understand and aid us in learning how we can do better to stop anyone else having a poor experience in the future as you have clearly had on this occasion. In the meantime, I will share your comments/feedback with our Senior Management team at the Loughborough Urgent Treatment Centre. I do hope that you have now received the care and treatment you required and are feeling much better and I wish you well for the future. Best wishes, Judith Brown Patient and Public Engagement Lead (DHU Health Care CIC)

  10. Review titled Triage were amazing

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sharon Dawson - Posted on 20 May 2023

It was busy when we arrived and the screen said I'd have 1 - 2 hours to wait for triage and 4-5 hours to see the Dr. Triage finishes at 21.30. I was called through just after 9. I couldn't walk fast so the nurse popped me into a closer room as the one I was meant to be going to was at the bottom of the corridor. Initial checks were done and raised a few concerns. The nurse wasn't happy to leave me to wait for the allocated 00.15 slot and said she wanted me seen before she finished at 22.00. The Dr saw me about 20 minutes later, organised medication and told me if red flags to be aware of. The service was second to none. I'm just sorry I didn't get the names of the 2 nurses because they were just amazing!!!
