Review titled Poor appointment service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 November 2024
I have been trying to get an apt with Lister House for over a month!! I have tried doing an e-consult too, but this service is either turn off or full to capacity within 5mins!! I have rang 111 & they too could not get me an apt with Lister House, as I need a referral to see a specialist & only my GP can do that. I am so disappointed as I don't often ask for an apt, so when I need to see a GP, it's not possible. A contingency plan needs to be put in place & urgently.

Thank you for your feedback — we’re truly sorry for the difficulties you’ve faced in trying to get an appointment. We understand how frustrating it is to need help and feel unable to access it, especially when it’s not something you ask for often. Unfortunately, what you’ve described reflects wider challenges currently facing general practice. Demand has risen significantly, while workforce and funding difficulties mean we’re struggling to meet that demand despite our best efforts. Services like eConsult often reach capacity quickly and are switched off to ensure we can manage cases safely and effectively. We actively review how we can improve access with the resources we have, but many solutions also depend on wider NHS support and change. We appreciate your patience and thank you for raising these important concerns.

Not been about to get an appointment for over a month even though I have very concerning health problems I am just told to go to the walk in centre which I can do as I am immune compromised.

Thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear about your experience. We understand how distressing it is to face delays, especially when dealing with serious health concerns and being immunocompromised. We sincerely apologise for the difficulty you've had in accessing an appointment. Due to high demand, appointments can reach capacity quickly. The walk-in centre is the appropriate overflow for primary care to which we can direct patients for urgent problems.

Review titled Poor quality practice, lack of knowledge of women health & do not care about patients
Rated 1 star out of 5

There are a number of issues with this practice. First, the practice have a poor understanding of female health. For instance, I had an appointment concerning discussing my blood test results for possible PCOS. The GP practitioner did not know what my blood results meant (her words). She also did not know the diagnostic criteria for PCOS, I had to tell her. She also failed to talk to me about support I would be given for a PCOS diagnosis and what other tests I would need to do to confirm my diagnosis. In a second instance, another GP was very unserious discussing sexual health and made me feel uncomfortable. I haven't been able to follow up on this or the PCOS diagnosis as I have not been able to get an appointment and I feel like they don't give much importance to women's health. Second, I have been diagnosed with eustachian tube dysfunction. During this diagnosis, the GP (different from above) yawned throughout my 2 appointments on this over a year. He did not really listen to me at all and kept saying come back in "uuummm 2 months". I can't get an appointment when I need to follow up so it's usually longer than that. It's been a year and I still haven't been referred for this issue. The issue has now worsened as I have tinnitus. Third, they do not give much importance to mental health. I was having issues with anxiety and a different GP at the practice wasn't able to prescribe me with antidepressants because she couldn't find an appointment for follow up in time. She asked me if I "would be ok" to wait a couple of months. I was at my worst point in my mental health. Because of this, I had to go private and do counselling sessions. Finally, you cannot get an appointment. Any health issues you have cannot be sorted out because you can't get an appointment. So then my issues just worsen over time. I have an allergy to something at the moment and because I haven't been able to get an appointment for months, I have just resulted to eating antihistamines all the time. Self diagnosing. The allergy has gotten worse. This practice truly just doesn't care about their patients and lack knowledge in key areas of women's health and it's really disheartening. I feel the inability to get an appointment actually hurts those with mental health issues more because they are vulnerable and being hung up on for an hour every day when calling just makes it worse. Something seriously needs to change at this practice.
