    My appointment was on time and the Dr I see was extremely kind, caring and very knowledgeable and I left the surgery with my mind at ease and happy with the treatment given out.

    Practice seems overstretched. Reception "gate guards" but is inclined to cross-examine patients and creates impression that the patient is not genuinely in need of help. Recently I was grilled rather dismissively and got no call-back reply to my enquiry. Appointment wait times, currently of three weeks, are unhelpful with developing conditions and create"emergency appointments" out of routine requests that can't wait three weeks. Doctors attitudes are variable - between enthusiasm and indifference. I certainly agree with others who contrast the practice today with the same one about twenty years ago. It's a bruising and unpredictable experience today and lacks much of the warmth and kindness of the past.

    We are sorry to read that you feel disappointed with the service you have received. Our reception team have been asked to ask questions about the nature of the appointment request, this helps determine if the appointment request is clinically urgent. If it is clinically urgent then you would be contacted the same day by the duty GP. If it is not considered clinically urgent then a routine appointment would be offered. At the time of writing this response the wait time for a routine telephone call is 1 week. With regard to how you feel you have been dealt with on the phone and that you say you never received a call back, I would recommend you make a complaint.     There must be a new management or something like that, because it is unbelievable how this practice has changed, unfortunately to bad... Rude and non polite receptionists, long waitings just to be phoned (never properly seen by a doctor), non sense refusal of repeated prescriptions... After more than 6 years with them, I see myself looking for a new surgery now... So my advice for anyone looking for a surgery in the area is to avoid this one, as at the moment, is not a good at all.

    We are sorry to hear that you feel the practice has not provided you a good service. With regard to appointments, if your problem is clinically urgent then you will be offered a same day telephone call. If the GP feels you need to be seen in person, they will ask you to come in the same day. If your problem is not clinically urgent then you will be offered a routine appointment. At the time of writing, the wait time for a non-urgent telephone call is 1 week. With regard to your prescription issue and also how you feel you have been treated by the reception team, I suggest you make a complaint so I can investigate this for you.     My problem of frequently recurring nosebleeds was reassuringly dealt with through examination or my nose and subsequent prescription of a recommended cream to be kept readily available at all times. Although generally my appointments are by telephone, they are almost always given for the very near future. That, coupled with the advice given, consistently leaves me with true confidence in the Lee Road practice.

    It is a shame, as this surgery used to be great in the past, but my experiences lately have been appalling. From rude receptionists, leaving voice mails in your telephone for you to call them back, and when you call they have no clue why they were calling (it has happened several times), to calling for an emergency and only getting a telephone appointment 15 days later. Basically, you can be dying and they don’t care, and the way they speak to you on the phone shows it clearly.

    Why this practice advertises that it takes new patients is unclear. Just to get a phone consultation- which must certainly be the most time saving method for the practice- requires a 2 week waiting time! They really really want you to use private services.

    Routine Telephone consultations are now a normal feature of general practice. It allows the GP’s to be able to deal with more patients than just seeing people face to face. Routine face to face appointments are available but naturally you may have to wait a little longer for these. When you contact the practice, based on the information provided to the reception team, if it is classed as clinically urgent then you will be offered a same day telephone consultation with the duty GP. If they feel you need to be seen face to face then this will be arranged for the same day. We totally refute your comment about us wanting patients to use private services, an unfair and untrue comment. Regards Grant Griffiths Practice Manager

    Three members of my family have been ill over the last three weeks, including myself but whenever we have rung the surgery seeking help, they have been able to speak to a doctor on the same day. At a time when appointments are so difficult to come by the receptionists have been helpful and doctors supportive. Many thanks
