  1. Review titled No help

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Paul Hackett - Posted on 14 March 2024

10 days ago I had a apology for having to book my own blood test, and tell them what I needed testing. Then chase results that have gone missing and not followed up. Today I’m having a melt down to results that say heart failure possible, but they can not talk to me until tomorrow. All I need is some guidance and reassurance if there is any.

  2. Review titled Poor menopause care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Joanne Kitts - Posted on 14 July 2023

If you have complicated menopause problems, you will have to fight to receive care (even though you don't have the energy or mental strength to do so), you will have to pay for a private specialist, and they will not fulfil the recommendations by the specialist, even when that specialist is from the uk's leading menopause providers newsonhealth clinic!

  3. Review titled Great once you get past the receptionist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 July 2023

.... the Dr I saw today was kind and empathetic. The nurses were too when I've seem them in the past. Today's receptionist was rude and dismissive. Seemed annoyed that I'd dare to interrupt her chat with other staff.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry to hear you have received a poor experience. Our receptionists work extremely hard, but I will happily investigate this incident further if you are able to contact me at the practice with more information. We expect all our staff to be polite and courteous, and ask the same of our patients. If you would prefer not to speak to a receptionist you are welcome to use our online option via our website www.leatsidehealthcentre.co.uk using the start here button. You can add the details of your medical concerns and this will be triaged by a clinician who will signpost you to the appropriate person at the appropriate time, which may not always be a doctor. We advise to do this in the morning, as often we reach capacity by midday. Kind regards Elaine White Practice Manager

  4. Review titled Incompetent Receptionists

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 December 2022

By one of the doctors own admission the receptionist staff at this practice are incompetent. It also my experience as well as others, even though all reviews are anecdotal I truly believe the majority of patients at this surgery would agree with my review. Not sending samples off. Loosing results. Having to retake samples, doubling the time it should have taken. Upon calling for my 3 year old daughter who had a rash starting, dry cough and a temperature I was rudely cut off before even finishing my sentence. So I couldn't even get the symptoms out of my mouth before the unprofessional and rude receptionist told me "Sorry no available slots if you think its bad take her to hospital"... Wouldn't it have been at least courteous to listen to the symptoms. It says no available slots to register. I would be surprised if that's still the case I can't be the only one trying to switch practices. The only kind of practise the receptionists have at this surgery is malpractice. On the upside I think the doctors are good. But what use is a good doctor if the receptionists looses results, doesn't send tests off and won't listen to the serious symptoms of a 3 year old girl. I'm utterly disgusted and embarrassed for them.

  5. Review titled No way to contact surgery

Rated 1 star out of 5

I find it impossible as someone who works full time, to make appointments for routine screens or just to get hold of this surgery in general. The phone system is continually full and they ask you not to phone but to use the online system. I would much prefer to use the online system as this is easier if I'm working. But the surgery close the online system from 3pm each day and it stays closed until opening the following day. It's also closed at the weekend. What's the point of an online system you can't use out of hours. After finally finding a time in my working day where I was able to complete the online form, 5 days later I still haven't had a reply so I still haven't been able to make my appointment for my screening that I need. I have since tried ringing but after waiting 15 minutes and still being told I was 12 in the queue I was unable to stay on the phone any longer (I was at work). Their phone system tells you if it's not urgent there's a delay of 4 weeks for them to be able to accept routine requests, which again, is not helpful if a patient is unsure how serious something could be. This is completely unacceptable, patients cannot ask questions, request medications or make appointments. Requests are not followed up, results are not sent out so you have to go through the painful process of trying to contact the surgery for your results all over again. This surgery is not meeting the needs of it's patients.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear you are not able to access our services in the manner you would like. It is very difficult for working patients to access services, if you do not have a lunch break or work 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday. However we provide the best service we can during our opening hours. Unfortunately, we cannot keep our online access open 24/7 as the demand for appointments is well above capacity and it would make it difficult for us to process the patients that require urgent medical attention today. We are also not commissioned to provide this service in the evenings or weekends, and this is why there is an Out of Hours service during these times. Our online system is open every morning from 8am, and we would recommend completing a request as early as possible. The time delay for a routine appointment is in line with many practices within the area as we must deal with the acute/urgent on the day demand. All appointment requests whether online or via the telephone are processed via Klinik and triaged by a doctor. If you are unsure how urgent an issue may be, if you can give as much detail as possible our doctor can use the information to assess your need. Our phone lines are open until 6pm each evening Monday-Friday, you can also request a call back if you are not able to hold on the line in the queue. If you would like to make a formal complaint, please write to the practice, or telephone and a member of staff can take the details. Kind regards Elaine White Practice Manager
