  1. Review titled Not fit for purpose

This surgery is simply appalling. The fact that there is only a doctor/nurse available 2 days a week should not be allowed. Yes you can go to another surgery at a different location but they can not cope with the amount of patients and it is impossible to get an appointment. By the time you get through on the phone your greated with am unprofessional person saying its not their problem there are no appointments there nothing they can do and call back. I understand its not the fault of employees however after being on hold for half an hour then have this attitude to lets face it someone who just needs to see a doctor is shocking. Bookable appointments seem to be an imaginary thing as you can never pre book one. And the practice is still giving false information daily saying you can use the online service this is a lie which I have raised many times staff are still un trained on this system even though the telephone and Web site both still misleadingly guide you to this service. How this is allowed is beyond me. I can not believe this surgery is treating people like this. The village is full of vulnerable people who are at the failure of this surgery being neglected. I have complained online directly with zero response.

Dear Mr Eyres Thank you for contacting Aston Healthcare by email. Please note that we take our patient's satisfaction seriously and we are glad to hear from you. To book an appointment with a clinician you should contact the practice anytime between 8am and 6:30pm (Monday to Friday) on 0151 902 0291 The practice offers a variety of appointments including the following: • Routine: these are pre-bookable appointments that are classed as ‘non-urgent’. Routine appointments can be via telephone or face to face. These are pre-bookable up to 7 days in advance. • On The Day: these appointments are released on the day at 8am. On the day appointments can be via telephone or face to face. These appointments do not apply to Practice Nurse appointments. We do strive to answer all telephone calls as soon as practicably possible but please do bear in mind that the practice is experiencing an unprecedented level of demand, therefore you may experience a wait time. We do not have any control over the level of demand for the on the day appointments, these are booked on a first come first serve basis. As per NHS England guidelines we would advise were possible, before you make an appointment to see your GP, think about what other services might be able to help. • Go to a pharmacy for advice and treatment for minor conditions that do not need a prescription. • Call NHS 111 if you have an urgent medical problem, but you're not sure what to do. • Visit 111.nhs.uk for urgent medical advice for people aged 5 and over only. • Visit a sexual health service for testing for sexually transmitted infections and contraception advice. You do not need to make an appointment or register for these services. For urgent medical attention, but not life-threatening situation, you can attend a walk-in centre or a minor injury unit. These are open at least 12 hours a day, every day. I would like to sincerely apologise for any negative experience you have had with our practice. Many thanks Kelsey Keam Practice Operations Manager

Took 3days just to get a telephone appointment, was then told they couldn’t prescribe antibiotics over the phone go to the walk in centre. Infection was easily treated if the correct information given. Not the first bad experience with Aston Healthcare

Dear Patient I take all feedback seriously weather this is positive or negative and I'm sorry to hear that on this occasion this is a negative. Unfortunately prescribing is down to each individual clinician and what they feel as safe prescribing. If you would like to discuss this further, please don't hesitate to contact me. Many thanks Kelsey Keam Practice Operations Manager Knowsley Medical Centre
