Hi Jade Thank you so much for the positive review. Whilst the phones and reception are constantly busy, I know our staff will often keep notes of patients they have had calls from and call them back when suitable appointments or options become available. I am pleased that our staff have been able to help you on this occasion. I have passed on your feedback to our reception team. We acknowledge that we have ongoing problems with our phones. Thankfully we are due to switch to a new system in the next month (go live is middle of January). We hope this switch will improve the experience for patients contacting us. In the interim if you are struggling to get through via phone there is also a system called PATCHS (info can be found on the appointments page of our website), or various forms are available on our website. If there is ever anything we can do to help, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Thank you again for the positive review. James Hardwick, Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Terrible

Rated 1 star out of 5

Almost impossible to get through the phone line to make same day/prebook appointments. Lines are open at 8am and after waiting around 60 mins (if you are not cut off by then), there are always no appointments left. Receptionists are rude and not helpful to offer alternative options to patients. Experience with doctor’s and nurses are good, however the experience of the front line staff and the repeated poor experienced of securing an appointment is truly terrible. The surgery does not make it easy for patients to make appointments to be seen to. The surgery needs to review their processes and improve the way they run the surgery. Other surgeries are almost operating back to pre-covid levels. Management needs to set up mystery shopper to really see how poor the practice is.

  3. Review titled Not pleasant

Rated 1 star out of 5

It’s not only a tiresome depressing challenge to get through to someone whilst also battling the telephone fault system which seems to be ongoing and can cut you off at anytime, you then are required to explain your symptoms ( nothing wrong with that) but I felt like the conversation was all about putting me off .This person seems to have the right to decide whether you get past them or not . It’s awful and so depressing when you also are feeling ill. What on earth has happened to the once empathetic friendly staff .

  4. Review titled Appalling

Rated 1 star out of 5

I’ve recently visited the surgery after waiting for 4 weeks for the appointment when I was patronised by the doctor about not knowing what my symptoms would reveal, stating that if I felt that badly I should clog up the emergency services at A&E. Albeit, after blood tests, the following day revealed the suspected problem, a possible life threatening blood clot. Some doctors at this surgery think they are god, they need to start listening to their patients. A person knows how they are feeling, symptoms description and previous medical history without the need to trawl through their own records.

  5. Review titled Poor service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Nicola - Posted on 04 July 2022

This used to be a really good surgery at both Alkrington and Junction, but it has massively gone down hill over the past few years. Staff answering the phones (if you can get through) and on reception can be rude and very short when answering questions, as their role now seems to be about gatekeeping rather than helping the patient. It is very difficult to see a doctor and they have rigid rules in place about how to get an appointment eg you have to justify why you are concerned about your health so that they can decide if you can see a doctor. You can't request to see a doctor based on the fact you think you need to see one. For people with learning difficulties, special needs, or struggling with their mental health who find it difficult to self advocate and articulate what their needs are, the system the surgery has in place has become very hard to navigate and the surgery staff are not making any allowances for vulnerable people.

  6. Review titled Frustrating practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

Telephone service is unbelievably BAD. They have acknowledged that there is a fault and are dealing with it. They must take us for idiots as this problem has been going on for years, yes years. I understand that the lines are busy but to be cut off after waiting 35 minutes is too much to accept. Then to be repeatedly told ‘That is not a valid response’ over and over again needs seriously sorting out.
