  1. Review titled Unsatisfactory practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Pauline Butler - Posted on 27 March 2023

Had a procedure to remove an area of skin cancer on 26/3/23 had stitches n the wound dressed was told to contact my gp 2 av a wound check on fri 31st March n stitches out on 6th April rang 27th to arrange appointments n was told no appointments until 11th April was told in an unhelpful manner to contact other medical centres as there was no1 qualified to check a wound or remove stitches . I think this is totally unprofessional to not av some1 available wen u av ad an operation to do these simple procedures . I also had a call of doctor on 23/3/23 to confirm that I was eligabl to go on hrt medication but would need a check up with a clinition n was told reception would ring with appointment wen went in on 24th was told no appointments again n rang again on Mon 27th no appointments with ay1 until 12th April I just find the surgery a joke

  2. Review titled Excellent service provider

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Emma Brewster - Posted on 15 February 2023

I have been with the practice for 3 and a half years and have had wonderful service from every staff member I have encountered whether they were administrative, nursing, pharmacy or medical. I have always been seen or called in a timely manner. Prescriptions have been sent when they requested. Follow ups have been done on time. Even during the pandemic when lockdown and restrictions were in place, I cannot fault the practice and I am a staff nurse myself so I am fully aware of the challenges involved in working in healthcare. Keep up the good work. You all do an amazing job.

Just spoke to a receptionist and she was so helpful. Sorted out an appointment for myself and my husband and repeat prescriptions for us both. She was so helpful

  4. Review titled Unbelievable service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Simon - Posted on 11 November 2022

I wanted to leave a review to say thank you to everyone at the practice who have gone above and beyond to help me when everywhere else was fobbing me off. Unable to walk for 5 weeks, and my previous GP would not see me or give me medication. A and E said there was nothing wrong and sent me home, despite the horror of getting there.Eventually moved GP, on recommendation, to this practice. Had a new patient review, clinician review, home visit, and vaccination within the week. They listened to me and got me urgent investigations, which showed I have a broken hip. I’m now sat in HRI post surgery, within 10 days of joining this practice. I think the surgery are doing their upmost in a terrible NHS climate. Thank you again for helping me in my time of need.

  5. Review titled Efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I moved surgeries earlier in the year, following difficulties getting prescriptions and appointments when unwell. I have been seen face to face, I have had tests and been referred, all in a very timely manner. All of the staff here have been kind and professional, with any queries sorted and dealt with as they have happened. They have really helped me feel better. Thank you James Alexander.

I'm sorry to hear of your recent difficulties you have experienced attempting to contact us via the telephone. Can I assure you that no member of the team would intentionally hang up or disconnect a call. On a standard day we have four people answering the phones and I personally monitor call times and conversion rates in every attempt to minimise long waits for patients to get through to the team. Demand on the service and for appointments is extremely high and I can only apologise for the length of your wait and then the call not being connected. If you would like to provide me with further details on the time and date of the call which was answered and then put down I would be happy to investigate and look in to this further for you. Again I'm sorry for this experience. I would like to assure you we are committed to being as accessible as possible for patients, for that reason we also have alternate ways to contact the practice as we know telephone queues can be frustrating: Appointments can be booked and cancelled via the NHS App, along with repeat medications ordered through this also. We also offer on-line consultations which can be submitted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via the eConsult link on our website. www.jamesalexanderfamilypractice.uk Patients can also come in to reception and pre-book appointments if they wish. If you would like to discuss this further please contact the practice and leave me your details and I will be happy to make contact with you and facilitate this. Kind Regards Adam, Operational Lead

  9. Review titled Terrible customer care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 September 2022

After trying to contact the practice on 3 separate days but not been able to get hold of anyone due to been placed in a phone queue to then finally getting to the front of the phone line to hear someone pick up the phone and then put it down on me without saying a word was infuriating! I tried calling back for the line to just go straight to a an engaged tone! The opening hours show that someone should be at reception until 6:30pm.

On a standard day we have four people answering the phones every morning and I personally monitor call times and conversion rates to ensure our patients don't have long waits to get through to the team. This week we have a number of staff on sick which has impacted our availability of call handlers - this obviously does not negate long waits and for that I can only apologise if you have experienced this. If you would like to provide me with further details on the time and date of the call which was answered and then put down I would be happy to investigate and look in to this further for you. Again I'm sorry for this experience. I can confirm our phone lines have been open from 08:00am - 18:30 every day Mon-Fri consistently with receptionists present and answering calls through this whole period. *We had a technical issue with our phone lines on Monday 5th September 2022 in the morning but aside from this have been taking calls throughout our opening hours. I have checked and clarified this through our call monitoring software. Again I'm sorry about your recent experience. 10. Review titled Very Disappointed

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Megan Harrison - Posted on 25 July 2022

Very upset. My partner and I have been trying for a baby for a while now and I got my blood tested for polycystic ovaries on the 22nd of June. It’s now 25th of July and I’m still waiting. Not what I want when trying to conceive is already heartbreaking enough especially when nothings being done to help. I don’t even know what to do at this point and I can’t bare to think how other women in my shoes feel… do better

Hi Megan, I'm sorry about your difficulties, I note at the time the review was posted you already had an appointment scheduled with Dr Raghunath on 1st August 2022. I appreciate the wait between having the bloods taken and being discussed was long. I hope you were satisfied with the outcome of the review, if there is any further concerns or dissatisfaction please contact me via the practice reception team and I will happily discuss with you and look in to the issues. Kind regards Adam (Operational Lead)
