Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Liz Krys - Posted on 13 November 2023

Thank you for providing excellent service, there are so many ways to access General Practice, which make it possible for all my family. We all work, and are busy. With patience, I can access this. You have addressed all our concerns, respecting our ideas and expectations. You have followed up after receiving advice from Secondary Care. You gave also been proactive with health prevention. Every encounter has been professional, courteous, friendly and prompt. Thank you for the great job you all do.

  2. Review titled Booking a repeat GP appointment

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 December 2023

The experiences I have had with GPs at this practice has been excellent face to face and on the phone. However, my experience when trying to make a repeat appointment (that the GP asked me to do) has been dreadful. There are no appointments ever on line. It took 3 visits to the surgery to get my last repeat appointment. Currently I have made three visits to get another repeat appointment and have not managed to get one. Admin staff are variable in the way they advise you. It is very upsetting to feel that you literally can't see a GP when you have been advised to.

  3. Review titled Gone downhill since joining the other two surgeries

Rated 1 star out of 5

Before Covid Sunnyside was brilliant and I would have highly recommend it and did. But now, definitely not. I’ve been diagnosed with a rare illness and my doctor at the time was amazing, that Dr has since gone on long term leave so I’ve not seen them for a long time. I keep getting sent over to Lake rd and seeing different Drs that don’t understand my illnesses and ask me questions like what do you want us to do?! Why are you on this medication?! I go to them for help they are meant to tell me what’s best. They don’t listen. I don’t have much fight left in me and sometimes don’t see the point in trying to argue with them as they all just seem to look after themselves and not worry about the patients. It’s not just me it’s been the same for my mum, she’s disabled asked for the doctor to do a home visit because she was so ill they refused, a week later she tried again the only reason they came out was because my brother took over the call and my mum ended up in hospital. Which could have all been avoided if doctor had came out in first place. We both have compromised immune systems so have to be extra careful.

  5. Review titled Great care shown

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Matt G - Posted on 21 September 2023

I went in for a routine BP check following some alarming results doing the NHS Futures trial and had excellent care from start to what’s still ongoing. Within 24 hours I had received a prescription at my local pharmacy and had been for both blood and ECG tests between two of the surgeries in the practice. Consultations with the GP were excellent and each member of staff was exceptional. The ongoing care I am receiving is a credit to our NHS thank you.

  6. Review titled Gone downhill since merging

Rated 2 stars out of 5

After sending in an E consult, which states that you would hear back from surgery after 48 hrs, I heard nothing. After a week I went in to surgery and asked if I had been forgotten, I was told I was on the list to be phoned to arrange an appointment. After two and a half weeks I was phoned and offered an appointment another 2 weeks later. Due to being at work when I received the phone call and being in the midst of doing other things I realised that I had completely got all .y days mixed up and would actually have been away that particular day. I went into the surgery after work and explained what had happened only to be told there were no appointments at all in Lake Road or Sunnyside and basically I would have to be put to the back of the list for a phone call to arrange another appointment. I asked how long this would take and was told they didn't know and I was 54th on the list. I went home to my husband in tears as I couldn't believe that I would have to wait even longer due to a small mistake and Confusion with my dates of being away. I do understand that GP surgeries are busy with a lot of patients but I just can not stand why it has got so bad especially when you are advised to do an E consult in the first place.

Dear Patient. We are sorry to receive your feedback as we do strive to offer the best care we can. As you have posted anonymously, it is difficult to investigate your specific issues. The response you received from the Econsult is an automated one. All EConsults are triaged the same day and in your own case it seems that a routine appointment was to be offered to you. We recognise that our ability to offer routine patient appointments is often in a longer timeframe than we would like. Unfortunately, general practice is facing unprecedented demand, which is outweighing capacity, dealing with increased patient list sizes, with an ageing population and more complex health needs. We release appointments throughout the week, booking two to three weeks ahead. Experience has shown that booking further into the future than this results in a significant level of appointments where patients do not attend (either because they have forgotten or the problem they had has been resolved). Whilst we recognise this is not an ideal situation, regrettably it is the best system we can offer within the resources available to us. We would be happy to investigate fully if you would contact us directly. Our email address is j82085.sms@nhs.net. Ann Turner, Practice Manager

  10. Review titled Island City Practice

Perfect blend of a technology enabled practice that supports a people focussed approach. Had a text to invite me for health check and options to book in response to that message. I Was travelling but called the practice a couple of weeks later. They went above and beyond to find a suitable time for me. I saw 2 nurses who were both kind and caring and professional. I needed some follow up appointment. The nurse booked one for me (so great not having to go out to reception to do it). Then they recommended e consultations for the other two. The receptionist gave me all the information I need to make these and even recommended a push doctor appointment for one. I felt empowered and supported. Really lovely team but also I was very impressed with the use of technology not to mention the speed at which I have gotten follow up appointments. For a busy working parent, this was the ideal experience for me. The staff and the practice have completely exceeded my expectations. Huge thank you to the people who saw me and helped me! I appreciate being able to self-serve with different e-appointment options, being away from work or my family is difficult and everything about my patient experience took that into account!
