I had another excellent experience with the practice nurse and then with the GP. I was so impressed that I was able to see him immediately, facilitated by the practice nurse and the Receptionist Thank you to all three of them.

  2. Review titled Great experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Tracey - Posted on 12 January 2024

I contacted the practice on line & received 2 early appointments. Attended the first & very happy with the consultation & advice given. The doctor also kindly covered my second appointment with a nurse so a further visit is no longer needed.

  3. Review titled Berated for a Appointment I Did Not Make.

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Michael Heathcote - Posted on 17 January 2024

An appointment that I was ready to attend at the clinic was cancelled last minute and a new date that I did not sanction was offered. When I didn't turn up, subsequent texts from the clinic said ' you missed your appointment' etc. I wish to point out that an appointment can only be attributed to someone if they confirm the appointment date, which I did not.

Dear Michael, Thank you reaching out and sorry you were upset receiving a missed appointment notification. Although we appreciate how unimpressed you felt at the time with the practice having to reschedule your appointment at short notice, our aim always is to minimize any inconvenience caused by notifying affected patients as soon as possible when a service must be cancelled and reschedule appointments to an alternative day. Such circumstances are unforeseen and understandably are not ideal for our patients, however as we face considerable pressure over the winter period, demand for services tend to increase significantly with the onset of cold weather, flu, and a surge in staff and patient winter illness. We kindly ask patients are understanding and to work with us when offered a new appointment. Not attending booked appointments has a negative impact on the services the practice provides. There is huge pressure throughout the NHS on appointment availability and by increasing awareness of this problem, enforcing our policy robustly, we aim to reduce the number of DNAs in order to free up appointments for those who need them. We also appreciate that on occasions, there are special circumstances which may have result in a DNA notification out of patients control and would advise patients to inform reception when this applies so we can take this into consideration. On the occasions, when a DNA notification is sent in error, we kindly encourage patients to contact our reception staff to discuss this further so we can rectify patients records accordingly. Each missed appointment has a financial cost to the HNS services we provide in terms of the time the medical staff waste, but more importantly, it means that the appointment cannot be offered to another patient waiting to be seen. By sending appointment reminders significantly reduces the number of missed appointments; therefore, we do send a text to our patients reminding patients of their appointments. An initial reminder is sent out seven days prior to the appointment, and then a final reminder is sent again 24 hours before the appointment allowing patients ample time to plan for the appointment or contact us in good time to cancel so the appointment slot can be offered to someone else waiting to be seen. For patients unable to attend or needing to re-book an appointment that has been scheduled, we advise they contact the surgery directly or respond to us in the link provided in the notification text message advising they are unable to attend. Our administrators will action the request accordingly by rescheduling a new appointment date and time. Thank you again for your feedback. If you would like to discuss this matter further, please contact the practice and ask for the Operations Manager Tracy Platt. Kind Regards Tracy Platt

  5. Review titled ECG

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Dennis Clarke - Posted on 10 January 2024

Dear Sir I contacted the practise in December regarding heart murmurs and was advised that a 48hr ECG would be required. I was told that none would be available for a couple of Months within the NHS and was therefore advised to approach The Alex. I did so aware there would be a charge £250 approx was mentioned by the practise. I subsequently arranged and collected an ECG 14/12/23 and returned this 16/12/23. I have just received a bill however for £513 which seems to me to be a ludicrous amount of money- surely the Health practise is aware of these fees and if not why not - patients who do not have Medical Insurance should be advised of these potential costs. I have not been advised of my results as yet so could these please be forwarded or would it be possible to speak to somebody about this general enquiry. Many thanks Dennis Clarke

Dear Dennis Clarke, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Unfortunately, record NHS waiting times appear to be increasing and the number of patients who would previously have gone down an NHS pathway are already opting to seek treatment privately. Where some Non-NHS services may incur charges, we do advise patient who have any concerns about the fees involved, to discuss this with their doctor prior to requesting a referral to a private service. Once the referral has been processed, self-funding patients requesting private health care are normally advised by the Hospital Trust own hospital private treatment advisers, who in turn provide a fixed price quote prior to going into hospital for treatment. If further diagnostic investigations or tests are required, the patient may incur additional costs which are normally outlined in the hospital T&C’s. We are not informed of hospital charges or have any control on fees patients incur for private services and I can only apologize if the private health care provider has failed to inform you of their process. In response to your reference relating to your results, we are unable to assist over this site. I advise you to contact the practice directly or you can use the Consult with your GP function to ask questions or to seek medical advice. You’ll find it on the following link. https://www.hulmehallmedicalgroup.nhs.uk/ Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, we welcome all patient feedback as this provides a valuable insight into services from the patients’ perspective. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Kind regards, Tracy Platt

  6. Review titled Always first class

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 December 2023

Using the online system, my husband sent a health query this morning and received a phone call from a doctor this afternoon. Use of the system in recent years has always resulted in a call or a text within a few hours at most, and, if necessary, a face to face appointment. We frequently hear friends and family ( and politicians) complaining about GP practices and the NHS generally. We are happy to be able to respond that our Practice is exemplary. This includes all of the staff. As for the NHS, we have both had evening and weekend appointments in recent times, and been able to read the Specialist's report soon after.

I asked to see a doctor as I'm suffering from really painful sciatica. I was given an appointment the same day and the doctor was thorough and helpful and prescribed me appropriate medication.
