  1. Review titled Leaves a lot to be desired

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Christine Monks - Posted on 15 November 2022

Requested Blood Pressure medication 1 week before it ran out. I have a brain aneurysm and blood pressure must be kept stable or risk of aneurysm bursting causing death or stroke. I had a text saying Dr wanted medication review, no mention of not filling out the prescription. Went to pick up medication and prescription hasn't been filled by Dr. I am not prepared to wait on the phone for an hour to discuss this with a receptionist. 2 months ago I requested a medication review and had to wait 5 weeks for an appointment for a phone call from my gp. The phone rang while I was in the garden and I missed the call. The GP left a message telling me to call the surgery and make another appointment! I have been with this practice since I was born but in all honesty it is just lacking in empathy and care.

  2. Review titled No Appointments

Rated 1 star out of 5

This surgery is taking money from the NHS but are not seeing patients face to face, it is even hard to get a phone consultation, we called up dead on 8am and we’re lucky to be number 10 in the queue ( called yesterday nearly 2 hours before phone was answered) only to be told all appointments have gone !!! They are still using covid 19 as an excuse to not see patients, this is not an excuse anymore, this surgery needs to be shut down and the NHS funds directed elsewhere. Stop using COVID 19 as an excuse, and start doing your jobs as an NHS GP surgery.

Hi Thanks for taking the time to feedback. The surgery is going through some organisational changes. As you can appreciate these changes cannot happen overnight but the practice has been working diligently to review any shortfalls in the access. Following the organisational review the practice has an advert for a new salaried GP and the four GP partners will now be seeing 64 more appointments a week

  3. Review titled Excellent practice

The staff are polite, professional and friendly. They go out of their way to help you. When they say they will call you back, they really do. Nothing is too challenging for them and they will give you the options available to help. I have been with the surgery a long time and have always had great care and attention from them. They are supportive through difficult times.

I have been with this surgery for more than 20 years and although my health has changed the doctor's, nurses and staff have always been polite and professional. All the staff have treated me me with respect in difficult times.

  6. Review titled Needs to sort out access for chronically ill

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 August 2022

I can completely understand that with the huge pressures on GP appointments currently, that getting an appointment for the same day or even a week's time is hugely challenging and I understand the need to phone at 8am and just try and get an appointment for that day, a bit of a lottery but I can understand it. What I do struggle with is booking a routine appointment. I have a chronic disease and when I need to see my doctor, I'm happy to wait 4-5 weeks if necessary but find that 9 times out of 10, when I ring up to book one, there are no slots and I am asked to phone back the following week [presumably for when more appointment slots have been released]. This is very inefficient as it is creating more telephone traffic to an already busy surgery for something that could have been booked that day had the appointment books been open for longer. I cannot book online as online booking services have been switched off since covid, and now it seems I cannot even use e-consult. I thought Practices were contracted to provide at least one form of 'online' access. The receptionist told me that e-consult is only switched on between 8am - 12 Monday to Friday but I have been onto the website several times over the past couple of weeks during these times to be told by the website that this service is currently switched off. I hate to be so negative as when I do speak to a doctor, I am always very satisfied and have been a patient at the practice for over 30-years but I feel that this whole question of access for chronically ill patients needs to be addressed by the Practice as patients, particularly those more vulnerable and frail may end up suffering through lack of being able to access timely medical care. I know no appointment system is ever going to be perfect but please please please look at this.
