  1. Review titled Sign of the times

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Catherine Blyth - Posted on 08 May 2024

I have been a patient since N F and P ( not allowed to use names apparently) , so have experienced many receptionists over the years. Over 60 years, yesterday was the height of ignorance, the pharmacy rang me saying I had to get an emergency script immediately. I relayed the message politely to be told there’s no chance of that. Then I got the ins and outs of the politics of surgery. Seriously!!! then she said the line was bad and the phone went dead. The pharmacist rang again so I repeated the conversation her response was you can’t go without this medication for that length of time. Did you get her name, she didn’t give it , no surprise there with that attitude. As a care provider we get scrutinised on everything we do and reported. I have never felt the need to review my surgery before but the level of professionalism has dropped dramatically in my experience. The only statement I wanted to hear was we will try our best to sort this for you, not war and peace. I felt drained after that onslaught, not a good experience at all.

Dear Catherine, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are truly sorry that your call to the surgery did not meet your expectations and you went away feeling drained. That is certainly not what we want our patients to go away feeling and i will pass this on to the whole pharmacy team as constructive feedback. Feedback is invaluable to us and we take it seriously. If you do wish to discuss further please feel free to contact us via highfield.enquiries@nhs.net. Kind regards, Heather Practice Manager

  2. Review titled Poor practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Disappointed that the surgery couldn't help me with a simple request. Not a place that I can trust going forward. Everything seems to be a struggle for the practice.

  3. Review titled Great pratice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have had very little need to contact the surgery over the years I have been registered with them. This month, however,I have been extremely unwell and required hospital admission. When I contact the surgery I never have to wait more than 5 mins for the the telephone to be answered, the receptionists are very pleasant and helpful. I asked for a message to be left for the doctor doing triage that day,Iam always called back within the hour by a doctor, I am always offered a same day appointment where appropriate. Every GP I have spoken with has been very patient and answered my questions and did not hurry me at even though they’re very busy. I cannot recommend this surgery highly enough as I have received excellent care. I was apprehensive about contacting the surgery because my friends who are registered with the Lytham and St Anne’s practices often tell me that they have to wait 2 hours for the phone to be answered and are then told that all the appointments for that day have gone and they must call back again the next day.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for taking the time to write your review, at the minute as you are probably aware GP surgeries are under immense pressure for appointments. We are doing our best to provide as many appointments as possible (face-to-face and telephone) however there subsequently is still a wait for an appointment. We appreciate the time it has taken for you to leave a response and are very grateful Kind regards, Heather Wilson Assistant Practice Manager

  4. Review titled Cant get any help whatsoever

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 May 2022

I rang to see if i could get a telephone appointment with a nurse or their resident chemist, only to be told its a 3 weeks wait. So i asked about a face to face appointment, that was just as long. I then rang to ask a question about some medication i had been prescribed only to be informed the receptionist couldnt help me as she wasnt medically qualified and no, she couldn’t pass on my details and question to a nurse or doctor etc . The question about the medication required a yes or no answer . I was then directed to my local pharmacy to see if they could help. I was told no, you need to speak to the surgery . What a complicated carry on, all for the sake of a 2 minute consultation and a yes or no answer. Your life in their hands , god help us.
