  1. Review titled Horrendous appointment booking system

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 June 2023

I phoned 177 times in the morning to try and and get an appointment. After the 177th time of hearing "we cannot connect your call" I gave up without an appointment. The appointment system of opening the lines at 8am and then closing the line when it inevitably gets overrun is a horrendous experience for patients who are calling because they are unwell. When I finally got through at 11am I was told it is impossible to book for the next day and I needed to enter the queue of rabid callers beginning the next day at 8am. I was so unwell I didn't have the strength to argue with such ridiculousness. The practice manager also closes the reception to deter people trying to speak in person and forces patients to queue up at an outside window, often in the rain, in a ditch. It truly beggars belief. Finally, if you do ever get an appointment be aware that the GP will spend 5 minutes reminding you they only have 15 mins with you so only give them one symptom. I remember when Drs listened with compassion and understanding and tried to help their patients treat issues in the ways best for them. My experience at this surgery is the polar opposite. There is no compassion or care. They don't want to help you. The just want you out as quick as they can. I beg please fix the appointment system for the sake of your patients health (and sanity).

Thank you for your comments. I'm sorry to hear about your experience when calling the surgery to book an appointment. Our appointments line is open from 08.30am. We identify that the lines are very busy at this time and once the calls reach capacity patient's calls will then not be connected. We recognise the current situation is not ideal and we are looking at changing this system to make it better. Once again, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback and please feel free to contact the surgery and ask to speak to the Practice Manager.
