  1. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband moved here and I followed A much better calibre of doctor and a wonderful practice They have the same issue as most practices in that planned appointments have a long wait time but you are listened to at these appointments and not fobbed off with Google searches of your symptoms like I encountered at Thurmaston Health Centre on Melton Road

  3. Review titled Caring and friendly practice

As a family we had a tough year, the staff and doctors were very caring and helped us a lot. Even just to be asked how you were doing was much appreciated as they are also so busy but they took the time to ask. Thank you to all the brilliant staff.

  4. Review titled Staff seem unwilling to try and help

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 August 2023

I have rang this GP practice as I had a yellow vaccine here back in 2006 but the digital record has not been completed/missing information when my current GP practice checked - all it states is I had the vaccine but no details (batch, manufacturer etc.). I rang to ask if they could check and give these additional details - as these are needed for recertification - and was told quite bluntly 'if it's not on your digital record we do not have this information' (they weren't even willing to try and look/ask/help). Having checked - they are no longer a yellow fever vaccination center - they should still have these details (as it was less than 20 years ago). Also I assume recording a vaccine batch and manufacturer information is essential for reporting adverse events etc?! However, a simple check/ask to find out would have been nice with a more friendly/willing to help response - as I'm aware this was 17 years ago, and it certainly seems something if I was a receptionist I'd want to check before giving an instant no. As a result my current GP practice has also tried to get these details, when Greengate as a previous yellow fever vaccine clinic should have these details anyway. It is disappointing as the difference between my interaction with this GP practice's staff is the complete polar opposite to how my current GP practice are - trying themselves to contact and get this information. I only rang simply asking if they could help and see if they have this information - which I thought was a fairly simple ask. Instead I felt like the receptionists were frustrated and did not seem remotely interested in helping, and were more keen to dismiss this request - even if it meant they had to go out of there way just to find out if they had this information.

  6. Review titled Unempathetic Reception Staff

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 March 2023

Its as if every time you call/speak to someone from reception they constantly want an argument. Always abrupt and rude. Calling the doctors usually means somethings wrong with your health, which is anxiety provoking in itself, then having to speak to the reception staff here doesn't ever make me feel any easier, if anything it makes it worse!!

Unfortunately, we do experience some negative feedback which is invaluable for reflection, discussion and gaining learning outcomes. 7. Review titled Unprofessional and unfair treatment!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 March 2023

I completed a change of address form and took in my documents, a receptionist checked it and said everything was fine (my partner who I live with is also a patient here under the same address). I received a voicemail shortly after stating that my new address is not in the catchment area, that I must find a new GP practice and sorry for any inconvenience. I called back and had a polite conversation with a member of staff about this, explaining that my partner is registered at my address and is at Greengate Medical Centre, this was checked and I was told her assumption is ‘the catchment area must have changed’ since he notified the practice of his change of address… he has had no issues or notification received that he must move GP practices, and has been allowed to visit and have communications with the practice with no disruption since his change of address. I am coming towards the end of my pregnancy, with midwifery visits every 2 weeks at the practice. It is very unsettling and anxiety provoking to be told the care with my current midwife will be interrupted at this late stage of pregnancy at the practice's discretion, it seems incredibly unfair and inconsiderate. The main issue here is my partner has been accepted under the exact same address and hasn't been told to move elsewhere, yet I have been told point blank 'no' as I am not in the catchment area - not even for the remaining weeks of my pregnancy, as if I don't have enough to organise and worry about right now. We are about to go through my birth plan, which I will now have to do with someone I have no relationship with or met before. I wrote to the practice manager explaining what had happened and that my partner is registered here, and my reasons for feeling unhappy about the decision, that I have a history of anxiety/mental health issues which my midwife and I have worked very hard on keeping at bay so far. My reasons we're not acknowledged what so ever, I was just told they are unable to accept me as I am no longer in the catchment area, and the reason they have this policy is so they aren't discriminating - the most unprofessional response I have ever seen with such lack of understanding. You have discriminated, and you have treat me very unfairly, it is unacceptable that management are allowing this to happen. Nobody has explained how this has happened or even attempted to show any understanding of the situation, it is so disappointing. However, it will probably be a blessing in disguise that I no longer have to deal with the unprofessionalism of Greengate Medical Centre receptionists and management, this was handled terribly and I found the manner of the response I received absolutely shocking.

  8. Review titled Needs big improvement

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I tired to call today to book an appt and yet again the line was engaged from 8am immediately all the way through to when I stopped trying. I called 31 times and no answer always engaged. If this is gp care at its best I would hate to see it at its worst. You can never get through appts bookable on the nhs app are 3 weeks away. It's a nightmare if you have ongoing medical concerns. This surgery needs more staffing and more GPS full time to cope with the level of patients. I'm so tired of constantly having ro wait weeks and then finally giving up and just suffering in silence. If this happens woth mental health issues I dread to think what will happen if someone can't get through and then something awful happens. Please get this improved its been like this for years.

  9. Review titled Receptionists not always knowledgeable

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 October 2022

I rang to check whether I could have a Covid booster at the same time as my flu jab (already booked) and was told they are not a Covid clinic! Well, nor is the GP's surgery that my husband attends, but he was invited for a Covid and flu jab at the same time. We are both over 50 and the NHS website says to contact your GP to get your Covid booster. Not for the first time has my GP's surgery contradicted the information on the NHS's own website. When I told the receptionist where I lived, she even questioned whether my previous GP's surgery (the same on my husband uses now) should have even accepted me as a patient. I stated that I had been a patient there for many years (well over 25 years) before changing to the current surgery, and I only made the change because the current surgery was slightly nearer. I said she could check if she liked. 'It's not my job to check', she said. Oh well, it may not be your job to check your facts, but please don't treat patients like they're in the wrong when they're not. Thinking of going back to my old GP now as in retrospect I made a mistake by changing!

Dear patient Please accept our apologies for your unpleasant experience with the receptionist on this occasion. Unfortunately, she is correct in that, we are not routinely holding covid booster clinics here at the surgery therefore, would not always be able to offer a flu jab and covid booster at the same time during every clinic we hold. The covid booster supply we receive is purely on an adhoc basis. therefore, we haven't been able to book anyone here at the surgery, we've just managed to offer as and when available. The NHS website states : How to get a seasonal booster dose To get a seasonal booster (autumn booster) dose you can: book a COVID-19 vaccination appointment online for an appointment at a vaccination centre or pharmacy find a walk-in COVID-19 vaccination site to get vaccinated without needing an appointment If you live in a care home for older people, contact your care home manager about getting vaccinated. It does not state to contact your GP surgery, although it may have done in the previous year. I apologise that on this occasion, we were unable to guarantee you a flu jab and covid booster at the same time but if you would like to call the surgery and ask for me, Sara Mitchell Assistant Practice Manager, I can find out if there is any remaining covid booster stock on the date you have your flu vaccination booked. Kind regards Sara Mitchell

Amazing surgery. I started to go through the menopause & saw lots of negative reviews on social media about experiences with GP’s. Well I can honestly say my GP was amazing & helped me through my choices. honestly I’ve never had a negative experience. Reception staff have always been helpful & polite. Keep up the good work Greengate
