Review titled A mixed bag
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 May 2025
The team are very helpful but since the practice moved from an app based booking system it is an absolute chore to book an appointment or see when appointments are available. I booked to speak to a GP and wrote in my booking I had 2 things to discuss but was only allowed to talk about 1 issue and then book in another appointment to discuss the other. I want to save everyone’s time and have an open conversation around all my health issues - especially when the time for an available appointment can be up to 3 weeks or so. I feel like the move over from the app system killed the ease of use for NHS users and I pray they reinstate it because it is so hard now to get anything sorted - or even find what you need to navigate to. The user journey/experience is not great from a UI/UX perspective. All of the team are super lovely and supportive and have helped me through a lot of issues I’ve had with my health but the difficulty in booking an appointment just makes you want to give up - and in some cases that can be life threatening, especially for people who may have undiagnosed health conditions or even need medication/mental health support. So my review is a bit of a mixed bag. I like the over the phone/video call element, the friendly and supportive team, but dislike having to remember where or how to search for the book appointment link, or when I finally get an appointment booked in and want to cover all my issues and get told I have to rebook to ask the GP I’m speaking with about my other issue. I could just be told what’s going on during the same call.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Firstly, it is great to know that you have been happy with the care and service provided by our clinicians, and how helpful and caring our support staff have been. I am sorry if you have found it frustrating to have to book a second appointment if you have a number of issues to cover. Our appointments are all 15 minutes in length, and our Clinicians will try to cover more than one issue in this time where it is safe and appropriate to do so. However, sometimes it is necessary to explore multiple issues across different appointments to make sure you get the best care. Urgent appointments are available on the day 7 days a week, and routine appointments can usually be booked within a few days. If you want to see a specific Clinician, sometimes this can take a little longer depending upon their schedule.

Review titled Recent great experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Zoe Hodge - Posted on 30 April 2025
Myself and 3 month old daughter recently had an appointment with the surgery and the nurse we had was wonderful. Kind, considerate and caring. She educated me on my procedure and the outcome and took extra time to remind me about self care. She was absolutely wonderful with my baby who was having her vaccinations and made the whole process so much easier and calmer. She’s a credit to GP at Hand.

Review titled Now really bad
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 May 2025
Have just left this practice. They used to be good but over the past couple of years it has become impossible to get an appointment. I have had a series of referrals over the past year to investigate a new condition, which have all been messed up one way or another and on moving to my new practice they told me none of my notes have been saved on the NHS system since last July, which includes several different test results now missing. The new practice has sorted out my issue in 2 weeks when GP at Hand left me frustrated for over a year.

Thank you for your review. We have lots of appointments availabile 24/7, so I am sorry that you were unable to find one to suit you. All our notes are saved into the NHS system, so it appears something may have gone wrong with the transfer of your notes to your new GP if they are unable to see these. If you would be kind enough to contact us with details we can ask for these to be resent.

Review titled refusal to send patient referrals to the local area or at the patient's choice
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 April 2025
Offering services outside the area, but when the patient requires a diagnostic examination, refusing to send the patient to the local area or at least to an area that is acceptable to the patient's abilities. Discrimination against invisible disabilities. Their refferals state that the patient does not need transportation, is not bedbounded, has no communication impairments. Every educated person knows that the cause of disability is not only a musculoskeletal problem or a visible cause. Even people with mental health problems have communication impairments and can complete sentences perfectly or walk with difficulty or pain without showing it to people. It depends on the person, because everyone is different. The team of doctors and administrative staff is familiar with the patient's medical condition and acts superficially when assessing and adjusting the patient's accessibility from a disability perspective. It's sad because I've been a patient since 2018 and have to constantly fight for my every right to health. Requests for referrals are doomed to failure from the start because health problems are not adequately described, referrals are not sent to the right departments, or referrals are not sent according to the patient's availability and abilities within the framework of safety standards and patient options.

Thank you for your review. As your review is anonymous, it is impossible to look into this any more, but as a general rule, transport is arranged directly by the Hospital and not something that we can arrange as a GP practice. If you would be kind enough to contact us with more details, we can certainly look into this for you.

Review titled Simple and easy to use

I registered with GP at hand, but I was initially confused about what it meant, so I was waiting to get a call from my Local GP surgery, I even contacted them. I later looked deeper into my GP at hand registration email, and followed the simple instructions, and it couldn't have been easier, great service and great idea.

Review titled Excellent, as always
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jason Muir - Posted on 19 March 2025
My medication review, conveniently completed with a telephone appointment, was flawless, as usual. As a patient, the whole tele-medicine concept is a really good fit. Hmed, and G P at Hand before them, have always met my needs very well.

Review titled Urgent appointment, no interest in patients
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Vlasta - Posted on 20 February 2025
I had two appointments at the Euston clinic. One was an emergency gp appointment arranged by the gp, the other was with a nurse due to the 24 hour blood pressure monitor. I arrived and took a taxi home because I had high blood pressure, headaches, dizziness and nausea and had brain fog with some vision problems. So I was 19 minutes late for the emergency GP appointment. Feeling very unwell. As soon as I got to reception I was told to reschedule the emergency urgent GP appointment. One of the receptionists was unpleasant, didn't even ask why I was late. No sympathy or interest in patients at all. Sadly, arrogant. I asked the receptionist to ask the GP if she would be so kind to see me. She went somewhere inside and came back to say I had to reschedule the emergency urgent appointment that the GP had arranged for me. Re-schedule it like a normal appointment for a rash or flu. An emergency urgent appointment is not fit for purpose if it is not received as urgently and with understanding patients as it should be. The clinic was empty for 30 minutes as I had to wait there for the second appointment with a nurse. My second appointment was with the nurse for a 24-hour blood pressure monitor and electrocardiogram. I had already booked an appointment with nurse on last Friday, but since they don't give patients a 24-hour blood pressure monitor on Fridays, I had to go back again. I wasn't informed that the 24-hour blood pressure monitor service was unavailable on Fridays, otherwise I wouldn't have booked an appointment for Friday. So I had to go back twice for the same purpose. My blood pressure was 170/118 with me talking at the beginning. So my blood pressure would have been a little lower, but not much. (I also have low cortisol below 100 nmol/L, my last cortisol was 49nmol/L at 9:47am, which lowers blood pressure, which would mean that my blood pressure would normally be really extremely high.) The receptionist was only judging by appearance, but that doesn't show how dizzy and confused I am. It's doesn't show what's inside of me, how bad I feel. The nurse was very nice, but she didn't ask if I was okay, if I could walk safely or if I can see properly. I will never go to an emergency urgent gp appointment again where they do not understand that the patient did not come here to leisure and made every effort to come to this appointment feeling unwell.

Thank you for your review and I am sorry that we were unable to see you straight away when you unfortunately arrived quite late for an appointment. When this happens, we try very hard to schedule another appointment later that same day, or provide instructions on next steps if we are unable to do so. With regard to the 24 hour blood pressure, I am sorry that it was not made clear that we are unable to fit these devices on a Friday. This is in the information leaflet, but I have asked our team to make sure this is made clear to patients at the time of requesting. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
