  1. Review titled Good practice

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I have found this surgery to be very helpful and understanding during my recent health problems. The receptionists I have spoken to on the phone have been very helpful and polite. The doctors and nurses that I have had appointments with have been very professional and I would like to thank all of the staff at Gordon St surgery, I do think the practice has changed for the good this last year or two and has not got the praise that it deserves.

I spoke with Receptionist today was really helpful and even called me back as she promised before but I wasn't able to answer. But there is definitely a problem with the line I called and said the line is full pls try again later, I called back straight away and was ringing and somebody just answered immediately. That is weird. Need a lot of improvement to make but Surgery is really clean and tidy.

  3. Review titled Brilliant receptionist

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I contacted the Surgery at 8am for my 1 year child who I believe had a chest infection. The receptionist who answered the phone asked what the appointment was for (as it is her job) and I told her. She gave me an appointment with the Doctor the same morning. I’d like to thank the lovely receptionist also the Doctor who saw my child. The receptionist went above and beyond.

  4. Review titled Child struggling due to neglect

Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been trying to book an appointment to see a GP for my now 3 year old for over a year now. The reason is genuine and although the receptionists agree he needs to be seen, they never appear to have an appointment for him. This has been going on for over a year and I have all the records. School and his health visitor have raised concerns but whenever I call back I am told 'appointments are released throughout the day' / 'There is nothing in the system now' / 'Call back later' / 'Try again tomorrow'. Please can someone confirm how many times I will need to call in order for my son to see the GP?

  5. Review titled Credit where credit is due

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Thankfully we rarely have to see a GP but recently my husband needed to. I phoned at 8am and call answered 20mins later. Gave brief reason for requesting appointment to Receptionist (it is their job to ask) and given one for same day at 1110. Husband seen on time and sorted with prescription. All staff encountered were helpful. To be honest I was dreading trying to make an appointment but no problem at all.

  6. Review titled Good experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Bruna - Posted on 20 April 2023

I needed an appointment so I rang around 8am, after 25 min I talked to the lovely receptionist and managed one on the same day. Everything went smoothly and the Dr. and nurse that saw me and took my bloods were caring and professional. Did bloods the same day after the consultation as thought urgent. This is the second time that Gordon Street managed to help me in a rush. Last time I even passed out due to being weak from a pharynge infection and everyone was so helpful and nice. I'm alone in this country and it gets scary to be ill but so far I´ve been lucky with my experiences. I know sometimes things don't work their best but I think It's only fair to compliment when they do. Thank you everyone.

  7. Review titled "Call us to rearrange your appointment but we won't answer"

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Olivia - Posted on 22 February 2023

Received a text to say my daughters 12 week vaccinations had been cancelled due to a Nurse's sickness. I was told to ring to rearrange. Called immediately, phone lines too busy. Called again 30 minutes later, same again. Called an hour later, got to 2nd in the queue and the phone was cut off. Called 2hrs later and was 9th in the queue for over 40 minutes before I gave up. I'm now 1 hour and 50 minutes deep waiting for my call to be answered. It's 6.30pm and the surgery closed at 6pm and I'm still in a queue, I'm presuming the phones are left to ring until people give up? You go into surgery and the receptionist are rude and dismissive but never look busy. I'm always interrupting a chat... Please don't tell me to call surgery for you to then A) not answer, B) cut me off or C) leave the phone ringing for hours We're expected to be patient and polite but it's very difficult when it's an impractical system or the receptionists are rude and unhelpful!

  8. Review titled 40 Calls no Answer

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 January 2024

This practice is a joke! I have tried to call from 8am on the dot and get through to them when I called all was fine till it said system fail and then cut me off. Then it took 40 calls and 30 minutes later to even get in line with them and to get an appointment. I don’t understand why we cannot get a better NHS it also says they’re taking new patients how can you take new patients when you can’t give appointments to the existing ones. I am really upset with the service I have had today. I shouldn’t have to go to A&E with problems GP are meant to deal with. That’s why waiting times at A&E are so long for this reason we need to do something to change this

  9. Review titled Unable to get an appointment in 3 months

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 September 2022

It takes over an hour to get through on the phone. Once through, the receptionist doesn't even ask what the problem is. You are immediately told appointments are full and to phone back later. When you call back later, this repeats. If you have an 'urgent' issue, you are told to speak to the pharmacist!!! I have had to visit the hospital a couple of times due to my condition worsening and not being able to get an appointment with the GP! I have called daily and haven't been able to successfully secure an appointment in months.

  10. Review titled Brilliant improvements

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Angela Payne - Posted on 12 August 2022

Wow... what an improvement. In the last 6 weeks I have needed to make 2 appointments and both time its been a breeze. Staff taking calls have been fabulous, helpful and interested in why I am calling. The improvements are beyond recognition to a year ago. Gordon St practice gets a lot of criticism but you have definitely turned a corner. Well done. It's been a tough time I am sure. The last 2 calls I have made have been the best access I have had in 3 or more years and the most welcoming reception staff in many many years (I've been there for over 40 years). Please thank all the staff that have turned this around.
