  2. Review titled test result

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Peter West - Posted on 26 March 2024

Received a telephone call to make an appointment very soon after my ultrasounds results came in. Was offered a face to face appointment in a few days time with an experienced doctor. We discussed my condition in considerable detail and he carried out a very thorough examination. I was referred for a hospital appointment. I felt the doctor listened carefully to thoughts on my somewhat complicated case and used his considerable experience to choose a good course of action.

  4. Review titled Needs more training

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Unfortunately the nurse for blood testing didn’t seem experienced and had to go to Nelson as they weren’t able to manage to find the vain. Another more experienced colleague should have been available to help as I had to waste hours for another appointment at the Nelson as I had taken day off work to do this otherwise had to wait another week to make a new appointment

Dear patient, thank you for your feedback. Delivering a phlebotomy service is still relatively new for the practice, previously St Helier used to run a clinic daily with us but they had to withdraw it unfortunately. Over the last 9 months we have trained and supported 3 members of our team to become phlebotomists. So all of the phlebotomist's are still relatively inexperienced, some more than others. However we hope with time and more clinics their skills will hone. All of the phlebotomists actually have a really good rate of successful blood draws, in the region of 95% but in line with our procedures they are only allowed 1 attempt in each arm and then they have to advise patients to go to the Nelson. Apologies that your time was wasted on this occasion. Kind Regards Lynsey Practice Business Manager

Proactive appointment arranged as an emergency by GP to follow up hospital treatment and continued fatigue. The GP was helpful sympathetic and informative and created a management strategy going forward.

My mark tells it all. Reception, conviviality, smiles, expertise, no blood letting, efficiency, etc. add up to making this practice great.

  10. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 January 2024

As always the practice offered excellent service. Phone call on time. Sympathetic response to my hearing difficulties and clear reason given for change in my medication. I was sad not to have had opportunity to discuss another medical development in my treatment as it was the pharmacist who rang and the GP I was expecting would have known the condition concerned. The difficulty of only one problem per appointment, a firm NHS policy, is a serious preventive of holistic care of elderly patients which even this excellent and super kind practice struggles with.

Dear Patient, thank you very much for your feedback. We appreciate your comments and your understanding. The introduction of new clinicians to General Practice in the last 3 years has had it clear advantages but also as you point out also some weaknesses. The one problem per appointment, will depend on a number of things, including whether the clinician knows you/your history well, whether they are running to time or late, whether they feel continuity on the issue is imperative to the care of the patient, whether they feel it is urgent to discuss at that appointment etc, but certainly some clinicians will review more than one issue in an appointment, but this is not the expectation. I hope you have been able to make an appointment with a GP to discuss the additional concern you had. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Kind Regards Lynsey Buckles Practice Business Manager
