Got a call from my GP surgery to say I needed a fasting blood test. The person was unable to tell me what the test was for. I was told I had to collect a form from the surgery and go to the hospital for the test. I enquired why I couldn't have it done at the surgery, and was informed it had to be the hospital. I rang the surgery to say that I was aware you don't need a form as requests are put on the system. I was told they don't do that now and on enquiring I was informed that people were turning up for tests and it wasn't on the system. I explained I am under physio for a knee complaint and asked if they could post out the form. They eventually text the form to me. I enquired why I couldn't have the blood test done at the surgery and I was told they don't do blood tests now. In Doncaster we had an amazing drive-through phlebotomy service, which has now been shut down and one of the reasons stated was that we could have blood tests taken at GP surgeries. So why is my surgery not offering blood test services?

It's not the first time I have to call 4 days in a row at 8 am to get and appointment. After waiting 30min and explaining the problem they say not appointment available, call back tomorrow again at 8. Really unhelpful and frustating.
