  1. Review titled Phlebotomy

Needed a blood test so booked in at Falkland surgery. I saw the phlebotomist who took my bloods with me hardly noticing. The most discomfort free blood test experience ever. Strange to say but I found the whole experience quite relaxing. Thank you all at Falklands Surgery.

Thank you for taking the time to write this kind review. I am glad you had such a positive experience. I have talked to the owners of the building about the car park a number of times, there is no money currently to amend it. I agree it is poorly designed, we did not have input, but I will keep trying to get it fixed. Practice Manager.

  4. Review titled A good experienc

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 September 2023

Recently registered with Falkland, after moving from another local surgery. Had difficulties with an ongoing cough, which went on for weeks. After filling in the e-consult form in the morning I was able to see a paramedic at the surgery that afternoon and a course of antibiotics prescribed shortly afterwards. Staff are all very accommodating and are under pressure with high demand on the NHS but I couldn’t fault the service I received. Thank you.

  5. Review titled Brilliant service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Carol - Posted on 02 March 2023

I recently experienced a sore toe, which quite suddenly became very painful and inflammed. I took photos to illustrate the problem and sent them to the surgerey via the e-consult system - within a couple of hours I had a phone call from one of the GPs, who was able to accuarately diagnose the problem from the attached photos. An antibiotic was prescribed which I was able to collect from Wash Common Pharmacy shortly afterwards. Problem reported, diagnosed and medication administered within just a few hours. What a brilliant service - thanks Falkland.

Thank you for writing in and glad you found the service so helpful. The GPs, patient service advisors, paramedics , pharmacists and the whole team work very hard to try and deal with issues as quickly and effectively as possible. It is really nice to see how well it worked for you in this case. Practice Manager

  6. Review titled Sympathetic Support and Practical Help

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Bettine Bly - Posted on 04 February 2023

Rang Practice 2/2 am to report breathlessness; call answered within 5minutes; gave description of symptoms; was advised I would be called back; within 30minutes called back and given face-to-face appointment with GP for later that day; thorough examination and GP advised she would like me to attend RBH 'Same day Emergency Care Ward' due to COPD history; GP telephoned RBH whilst I was there and made arrangements for me to go in the following morning. GP explained likely tests and what she thought was wrong. GP recognised my name from signing off prescriptions, advised me not to worry but call 111 if symptoms worsened. Spent day in ward at RBH having many different tests. Given diagnosis, new medication, detailed letter and follow up appointment before leaving ward. I am very grateful for Patient Advisor and GP prompt action

  7. Review titled Lack of Care

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Being in pain spoke to 111 who told me to speak to my surgery within an hour. Joke. 3 hours later I had to send an e-mail whilst laying in bed in agony. This Surgery just does not give any kind of service anymore which is so sad as they used to be fantastic

Thank you for taking the time to write your comments, I am sorry it was not to your satisfaction. 111 is not an emergency service and neither is general practice. 111 should not tell any patient that they will get a response in a hour, no practice has agreed to that SLA. We are always happy to look into any issue if a name is provided or you can contact the practice again. Falkland Surgery

  8. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John - Posted on 27 January 2023

I have used e-consult a few times, most recently earlier this month when an ear problem treated by ENT at the Royal Berks more than a year ago began to give me similar problems. The surgery phoned me back the same day and I saw a registrar GP at Falkland the next morning. Ordinarily she would have treated me there and then but in view of my “ear history” decided to call ENT in Reading while I waited – they agreed to see me next day and I am now under their care again. What a service! e-consult day 1, GP appointment day 2, specialist care day 3.

  9. Review titled Not professional and disappointing

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 November 2022

I phoned the surgery this morning in regarding changing an appointment which had been rescheduled yet again. To speak to a lady on the phone who had no clue what she was doing. I gave all my details over, as you normally do, to then be told that she needed to speak to a member of the team and she would get back to me. 10 mins later and she comes back on the phone to say that she needed to speak to the nurse regarding moving my appointment again so she would need to phone me back in an hour. This was at 8:30 this morning, to then not have no phone call back, I decided to ring the practice at 3 myself. Speaking to the lady on the phone, who was nicer and more polite than the lady this morning, had said she would fine out who I had spoken to. 5 minutes later and she said that she’s not sure who I had spoken too as the receptionist cant just go and talk to the nurses and ring back. No one would admit who had spoken to myself on the phone and there was no receptionist there who had taken my call. I understand that the surgery can be busy with patience and phone calls however if you are unsure on the other end of the phone then why lie to a patient. It’s frustrating and rather unprofessional.

Thank you for writing in with your concern. I can assure you that the patient service advisors would not knowing miss-lead any patients. It takes up to 6-8 weeks to train for the position, which can be very complicated. I am sorry you had a unsatisfactory experience. All our calls are recorded so we would be happy to listen back to any call a patient is unhappy with, this helps us with training and learning from any mistakes, and offering better service to all our patients. 10. Review titled Outstanding service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chris Ward - Posted on 09 October 2022

My mother in law (90) was showing signs of distress, and more confusion than usual. We would have struggled to get her to the surgery, and she would have been more distressed. No problem - doctor called in the same day, identified the likely issue and prescribed treatment, all in the same day. This is the latest example of great service from the practice, always willing to help, and with practical responses. From reception to nurses to GPs, everyone does their best to help people who are unwell.
