Review titled Great GP’s but not so helpful receptionists

The Doctors and nurses are really helpful and caring but the receptionists not as much recently I broke some bones in my foot and was told by a local chemist who was concerned to go to this surgery and asked to see either a GP or nurse I explained to the receptionist what had happened, but I couldn’t get an appointment that afternoon the receptionist advised me to either come back in an hour or she could arrange a telephone appointment I said neither would work as I didn’t want to walk on the affected foot etc. In the end I went home in tears as I was in pain. The next morning I went to the local walk in centre.

From the brief details you have given , the Walk In Centre may have been appropriate if you needed an xray? I have been using this GP surgery for over 20 years the doctors are brilliant but unfortunately trying to get an appointment is near impossible and also trying to leave a message for a GP isn’t always possible the receptionists don’t seem to care.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback; I am very pleased that you think our doctors are brilliant! Our appointment availability is always stretched and we try to ensure the most urgent problems are dealt with on the same day. Our Reception team can only offer patients what is available on the computer system and do their best to offer the most appropriate appointment. Leaving a message for a GP can be useful in some instances, but we also find that the Reception team can give the GP a message from the patient, but the GP then needs additional information, which then we have to call the patient back to ask - we often find booking an appointment to be more efficient in these situations!
