Review titled Ooops!
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Maddy - Posted on 26 July 2024
After 10 years of excellent service I was very disappointed today. My husband attended a booked appointment to remove surgical stitches. Unfortunately when the dressing was removed we found staples. The surgery do not have staple removers. The nurse was lovely and said if I could get a remover she would be happy to get them out. After many phone calls the original hospital got a local one to agree to give me a staple remover. I asked at the surgery if I could bring my husband in when I had the remover. Here lies the stumbling block. The receptionist I spoke to said there were no appointments available even though I told her what the nurse had said. No offer to ask the nurse (between patients of course). Basically it came down to calling the non- urgent NHS helpline or filling in a triage form in the hope that a district nurse would fit him in at some point at the weekend. Sadly the original hospital had told me it had to be done today. I resolved the problem myself with a little help from a hospital nurse but remain disappointed at the attitude I encountered at the surgery reception desk.

Review titled Great team & practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Thomas Owens - Posted on 12 September 2023
I always find the whole team at the surgery polite, helpful & proactive. My health has been improved by getting me to the right places first time for treatment. All respond with humour which at my senior age an essential commodity. Well done to this practice coping in adversity, my wife & I haven't had better!!

Review titled Standards have fallen at the Cow Lane Surgery
Rated 1 star out of 5

When my partner and I moved to Edlesborough 5 years ago we signed on as new patients at the Cow Lane Surgery and to be honest we were amazed how well the practice was run. Up to the start of the pandemic this Surgery was a shining example of how a NHS doctors surgery should be run, most times appointments were available same week either at Edlesborough or rarely at Pitstone. During the pandemic most appointments were by telephone which was quite understandable but now that the pandemic is over things have not returned to normal and it is virtually impossible to get an appointment same week or indeed sooner than 3 weeks in most cases. There are virtually no appointments available using the online booking service Patient Access and it should not be necessary to have to call at the surgery to make an appointment albeit for 3 weeks hence. I would like to know why the service offered at Edlesborough Surgery has become so poor and is now no better than can be found elsewhere, this Surgery is certainly not the shining example that it was previously. There must be a reason why the service offered now is so poor since the pandemic and an urgent investigation needs to be conducted in order to identify the root cause so that the correct changes can be put in place to return this surgery to it’s pre pandemic standard.
