  2. Review titled Poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by J Tracey - Posted on 20 July 2023

I rarely go to the doctors but when I need the service it’s just very poor especially since the pandemic, with the exception of the very last time, the last few occasions I’ve needed to see a doctor they advised me to go to another centre because by the time I’ve got through on the phone, there are no appointments left, despite this, they still advertise they can take on more patients, I recently needed a health declaration form completed for a job, after handing in the form there was a delay in notifying me of the cost and while most doctors seem to take 2 weeks, this doctor takes 28 days and this doesn’t include the time before I paid the £87.50 fee when the form just sat at the surgery.

Dear Ms Tracy, thank you for your feedback. We regularly take time to review our appointment availability, to support our local community we have between 60-80 appointments which open up each day to allow patients to book into, we also have the ability to utilise our Urgent Treatment Centre once all appointments are filled this helps us to ensure all patients who contact the surgery can be have a consultation with a clinician. We are sorry to hear of your recent frustration when trying to obtain your health declaration form. We do endeavour to complete non NHS requests as quickly as possible however some requests can take up to 28 days depending on the complexity and depth of the request. As you have emailed the site directly, our Site Lead Officer will liaise with you directly with any updates.

  3. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Peter Hibbert - Posted on 17 May 2023

Having been a patient at Eaton Wood for over 20 years, although I cannot speak for other peoples' experiences, my experience has always been first class. This week (May15, 2023) I phoned to make an appointment. Although I was 26 in the queue I didn't have to wait too long, which was fine for a Monday morning. I also needed later that day to obtain some advice. I phoned again at 10.00am (Option 4) and was 2nd in the queue. On Wednesday of the same week, I needed to make a further GP's appointment. I phoned at 8.00am and was No. 4 in the queue. I have always found the staff to be helpful and professional. The GPs are great.

do not refer patients to other services, had happened to me multiple times. sent a text message may 23 which I responded y for yes. no referral was ever made, I subsequently self-reffered myself. however, I had to get test results from the surgery to do my self-referral. somewhat of a coincidence the surgery suddenly refers me the same day I requested test results and already did my referral. seven plus months the surgery had to refer me but didn't. coming on the back of my emails to this other organisation and my call to eaton wood for my test results. suddenly they refer me later the same day, hilarious. not the first occasion they have failed to refer me to other services. despite a consultant previously requesting they refer me back to his clinic. never happened as according to the surgery they couldn't see the consultants electronic communication on their system. again in late 2023 another referral was not made, this is 3 times in about 2/3 years. other issues with this surgery which they do not address, they really do not care in my personal experience. You could be having a stroke and the reception staff will say ring back tomorrow morning at 8am. no matter how distressed you are and experiencing awful symptoms they do not care

  5. Review titled Terrible service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Tracey Smith - Posted on 09 March 2023

My son has been trying to get a sick note for a week. It is overdue and his workplace are asking about it. He has been advised that a GP would contact him which has not occurred. He was also told the GP couldn't do a sick note as they hadn't received the information from 2 minor injury units, and on another occassion, the GP system was slow and couldn't access the information. Wednesday and Thursday no telephone access. He is feeling stressed and neglected. The injury has not been reviewed and no advice given about how to aid recovery or how long it will take and how to plan for return to work. Disgraceful

  6. Review titled Getting Better

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Arthur G Crooke - Posted on 14 November 2022

Further to my previous reviews I am glad to say that my wife finally got a face to face with a doctor with the help of the practice manager, which has lifted her spirits and given her hope for the future with managing her copd. Also the practice manager offered a meeting with my wife and I after her appointment, but unfortunately I had another matter to attend to in Walsall at midday. Glad to say many thanks to the Eaton Woods practice.

  7. Review titled Inept at the basic’s

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Arthur G Crooke - Posted on 11 November 2022

This matter concerns Thursday the 10th November and Friday 11th November 2022. Further to my last review on Thursday 10th November (posted) My wife received a phone call eventually from a nurse. Who stated that my wife needed a more powerful inhaler for her copd condition. The nurse stated that she would get issued two prescriptions and my wife would be able to pick from the pharmacy located next door on Friday the 11th November. We went to the pharmacy who had only received one prescription for pill and capsule medication, they had not received the prescription for the inhaler that she actually needs. We phoned Eaton Woods, the person on reception said oh that’s strange please come down and I will get you another. We were there within 5 minutes. Question is how did she manage to get a doctor to issue another one so quickly. My guess is the nurse forgot to send the actual needed prescription to the pharmacy. Of course due to this inhaler being more powerful, the pharmacy has to order in. Hopefully should get it on Monday 14th. So in summary this practice can not get the basic’s right. Also we are registered via the Nsh app for online services. Yet when trying to book appointment’s it always states no available appointments . Now maybe we are using it wrongly, but we always manage to order repeat prescriptions with now problem. Very poor with high ineptitude for the basic, with at times a complete lack of compassion.

  8. Review titled No care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 November 2022

I rang up needing an appointment started the call at 8:00 got down to three in the que, line went silent and it cut me off, so I started again and was 22, finally got through to be told the there were no appointments left, I explained to them what had happened and they kept reiterating that they had no appointments I said it’s not for me it’s for my son who is 5 years old, she didn’t even care and just told me to ring back in the morning, or wait till phone lines switch to a different service, so I went to the urgent care centre as I knew my son wasn’t right, had to wait 4 hours with my son who was unwell, I was given a course of antibiotics. I was later informed by a gp that they should have offered me an appointment as my child was 5 and children 5 and under they have an obligation to see them

  9. Review titled Unprofessional

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Mandy Jones - Posted on 14 October 2022

I attended Eaton Wood last night for my flu jab.there were 3 patients waiting in the waiting room though the car park was full and I had to park down the road. These were obviously staff cars as I saw there was a meeting going on. Reception was full of staff though only 1 woman seemed to be bothered to attend to patients as the others were having a party complete with balloons behind the glass along with 2 small children. While we waited ‘patiently’ the celebration continued seemingly oblivious to the fact our appointments had not been called. After 20 minutes I went back to reception ( sorry to interrupt the party) and asked whether I should be sitting down by the nurses rooms as I hadn’t been called and there was no sign of life. The same woman bothered to take me to the room but no one was there. She said the nurse might be in a meeting but would try to contact the nurse! After about 10 minutes I was eventually called. This was totally unprofessional behaviour in a doctor’s surgery ( or any place of work tbh) It’s an absolute nightmare to get an appointment in the first place and I just can’t understand why only 1 doctor was seeing patients and the nurses seemed to have no awareness that their patients waiting.I very much hope the practice manager will address these issues.

Dear Ms Jones, We are sorry to hear about the difficulties you encountered when you attended the surgery yesterday. We can advise that on most Thursday we have an extremely busy surgery and yesterday was no different with eight different clinics running. The clinical system we use allows us to check patients in and this instantly alerts the clinician that the patient has arrived. We have spoken to the clinician who administered your vaccine and they have informed us that the template we use to record the flu vaccinations was experiencing technical issues beyond our control, which caused a delay to their clinic. Thank you for your feedback regarding our reception team, we take all forms of where our service fails to meet expectations very seriously and your feedback will be discussed at our next practice meeting and implement any changes required. If you would like to talk to us further about your experience, please email Eatonwood@nhs.net and mark it for the attention of the Site Lead Officer, who will contact you directly.

Just want to say a massive thank you, I know you can't name people on here which is a shame, but it's nice to know that there is still care and compassion shown when truly needed, when things aren't your fault , even though blamed and they help you out, so thank you This relates to a prescription request for a family member, it was dealt with badly, but i was then helped and sorted with care and compassion
