This practice puts money before patients. Its literally impossible to speak to qualified practitioner. You are forced to discuss medical issues with a receptionist, who in my case asked me to collect sample vessels, provide specific samples and return, which I did. Having not heard anything 6 weeks later I subsequently found out my samples had been destroyed without analysis as they hadn’t been authorised by a qualified practitioner. Being someone who has suffered from a form of eczema and having repeat prescriptions for almost 60 hrs to self manage the condition and avoid taking up their time just be aware they regularly stop the prescription leaving you without medication for weeks on end. I can quite honestly advise you to avoid this surgery at all costs. Profit before care very much sums up my experience of them. Please don’t risk yours or your families health.

Dear M Church Thank you for taking the time to feedback. We always like to hear from patients who are not satisfied with the service we provide as often we can learn from those experiences and improve the way we do things. I have checked the points you have raised. In regards to the prescription you mention, you have not had this issued for some years and it is unsafe to just re-authorise any medication without reviewing you. I note you were also offered an appointment to discuss this. However, the items you requested can be purchased over the counter and GP surgeries are now asked not to prescribe items such as creams that can be purchased. This is not about us making a profit-we don't. This is about reducing the burden on the NHS prescribing budget over which we have no control. On a final note, our receptionists are trained health navigators who are able to triage non clinically, much the same as 111 call handlers do. Their questions assist us in prioritising urgent requests and should you need to see or speak to a clinician you would be able to do so. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this further. I have not yet been inside this practise as only been registered for less than a month. However once I had registered I was able to book a telephone consultation regarding contraception. The receptionist was lovely and very caring towards what I was concerned about. I got told my phone call would be in the morning and promptly had my call during the timeframe they gave me. Usually doctors refuse to talk about anything else other than what the appointment was for however I mentioned that I was coming off my anti depressants myself as the last doctors I had was very unhelpful. With that after booking my contraceptive apt and my smear which was overdue (thanks old doctors) the woman who I spoke to then messaged me with the next steps to come off my anti depressants as I had been begging my last doctor to give me information. The NHS is stretched enough as it is but the care and response I received from this practise has completely given me faith that my health will be taken seriously and with a lot of care. I ended my phone call beaming ear to ear exclaiming to my workplace how happy I was to have been given excellent service from this doctors surgery. Thank you East Trees for giving my faith in doctors back. Looking forward to my first appointment! Very happy human here.

Since we have had our baby daughter the practice has been absolutely amazing for her. Today we called because she had a terrible painful rash and all the staff have been amazingly accommodating to allow us to be seen quickly and to get the treatment the baby needed. Specific compliments to the reception team who went out of their way to help us and to the paramedic who gave us excellent care. We really appreciate this practice and want to thank all the staff for being such a caring, efficient and friendly team.

Unfortunately the receptionists at this practice are awful and seem to be confused with the fact that they are not doctors. It appears they hold appointments at ransom and they deem it appropriate to decide if you are worthy of an appointment or not. I am medically trained myself and find it laughable when they are stating things that are clearly untrue. It is really disappointing to see them treating patients in such a way. Speaking and sending out messages in an undermining manner. This needs to be looked into.

I apologise if you have recently had a poor experience but can assure you that our care navigators are trained to signpost to the right person at the right time and do not clinically triage patients. Perhaps you contacted us after a serious incident in the practice last week when the team experienced considerable trauma through someone's actions, to the extent that we are currently closed. The GPs and nurses at this practice really are exceptional. Everyone is always so thoughtful, considerate and warm in their approach. Every nurse I've ever had a blood test with has asked me if I'm afraid if needles - I dont recall nurses at any other practice asking me that! I'm not scared of them at all in fact, but it's such a kind,"above and beyond" little detail. They are all so friendly and reassuring, and explain to me what the tests are for and when I'll get results. On a sadder note, I've had a consistently poor experience with one receptionist (all the others have been really fantastic). On two occasions I have been asked to book an appointment by my GP, only to have this receptionist tell me it's not necessary. Mercifully I was able to convince her, but it's quite embarrassing and frustrating being put in that position.

In my experience, the reception staff- the front line, deal with people in a calm and considerate way, often under stressful situations witnessed first hand. The doctors & nurses (& reception staff)that I have seen have made me feel valued & listened to. I appreciate them all hugely & give my thanks.

A GPs practice is one of those places where we only go when we need to, and often malign because of the time it takes to get through on the phone, how long it takes to get and appointment and so on. What we sometimes fail to recognise is the expertise, professionalism and deep concern for us patients that the GPs exhibit. My experience with Easttrees has shown how good a practice can be. The cliche ‘above and beyond’ certainly applies here. My GP is rigorous in her examination of results, not only those asked for herself but those from my treatment in hospital. She frequently (or as frequently as is demanded by my condition) updates me on results, and provides the sort of back up that is immensely reassuring. I can now forgive a slightly long wait on the phone because this surgery deserves to be popular. By the way, the nursing team and support staff deserve equal praise for their proactive and caring approach. Thank you all.

It's a welcoming facility, all the staff are really friendly and I have always received good advice from the practitioners here. Appointment availability is pretty good and communication has been the best of any GP surgery I've been at.

I have always had a really positive experience using East trees over a number of years for myself and children. I always find the staff (receptionists, nurses and Doctors) friendly and caring and as helpful as they can be. I did struggle to get through on the phone at times but now using the online appointment request it couldn’t be easier to get an appointment swiftly or other advice. I would recommend this surgery to anyone. Thank you!

Dear Katie Thank you for your kind words. We try to advise our patients not to call us at 8am as this just causes a rush. And Mondays are worse, but no day should be any different. If patients need an appointment they will always be offered one but sadly, there is a view that all GP practices are the same and turn patients away.
