I rang to make an appointment with the doctor and was told that there are two regular doctors and they are both ill and that I need to ring on Wednesday to book the appointment

Dear Patient, I am sorry for your experience whilst trying to book an appointment. Unfortunately on the 15th April we did experience staff sickness at the Surgery which limited our appointment capacity on that particular day. We have added additional clinics on this week to compensate due to the sickness we have experienced. In future you would be able to fill a online e-consultation request that will be reviewed by our Clinical team. If this is something you wish to do please contact the Surgery directly for more information, if you have any additional concerns please contact the Surgery via e-mail- dudleypark.medicalcentre@nhs.net

Horrendous.5 weeks still trying to get appointment .call handlers need training when a patient is upset and is not been supported with appointment.they ate not trained clinicians so when the patient is saying it is very private they should listen

Dear Mrs Kaur, Thank you for your feedback. All of our appointment requests are triaged by a Clinician and not by our call handlers. We were made aware of your difficulties obtaining an appointment on Wednesday 14th February. We then sent you a link to an online questionnaire that we asked you to complete in relation to your symptoms, which you returned to us on the 16th February. We have subsequently offered you an appointment early this week which you have declined, but we have been able to book an appointment for you towards the end of the week. Dudley Park Medical Centre

  3. Review titled How not to customer/patient service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 January 2024

I have had the misfortune to communicate with a certain individual on the reception desk both in person and via telephone enquiry. This male individual has absolutely no concept of customer service or take any pride in his communication to others. The first time at the the surgery, he addressed me by shouting across the reception area by my second name only and beckoning me to come to the desk. He also seemed to fail to notice that i had not turned up for an appointment as i recieved no text/letter/phone call to attend said appointment and was there on the day i attended as that was the day and time specified on the text message i received. No apology and just a meek answer of "well we'll see what we can do". It was only when i said i was not leaving due to having to wait two weeks for the appointment in the first place that he acted upon it. The second time by phone, he sneezed directly into the phone, no apology and said, when dealing with my enquiry about hospital test results that i had not been informed about after three weeks, that the "results can take two to three weeks and you are better off phoning the hospital". This individual has no redeeming characteristics to be anywhere near a public service company and certainly puts me off dealing with this surgery due to his nonchalant behaviour.

Dear Patient, thank you for your feedback. Without being provided with your details we would be unable to investigate this further for you. I have never heard any colleague at the Surgery call a patient by their surname without a preceding title therefore find this very peculiar. We will discuss all of your concerns at both our next clinical and non-clinical meetings. If you would like to discuss this further please contact the Surgery and ask to speak to either of our Senior Receptionists.

  4. Review titled Inadequate service

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I cut my index finger and thumb, a couple of weeks ago, on my right hand, so I couldn't be in work as I'm a typist, I went to see the nurse to get my bandages removed a week later, who said she wanted to leave the strips on, as she felt it was too soon to remove. I explained to her that I had reduced feeling in the top of my thumb, to no response. I called up to get an extended sick note as the strips still needed to be left on, reception said someone would call me, I get a text saying I need an appointment to discuss , called up the next day for an appointment, and then had the Dr call me, explained and she said it was fine, also mentioned to the Dr that I had little feeling in my thumb, again nothing. Went yesterday to get the strips removed from the pharmacy, as soon as I mentioned little feeling, her response was, you need to see a Dr as you could have nerve damage especially as it's been like that nearly 2 weeks. Called up today for an appointment, and was told by a very abrupt receptionist, that it's only one appointment a week, and I had one in Wednesday, so can't say if I'll get a call back, I explained it was for a sick note, and that actually something may have been missed when I spoke to the nurse and Dr, her response, you may get a triage call, but can't say, as it's just one appointment a week. It's absolutely ridiculous, a Doctor surgery saying one appointment a week, never heard so much nonsense!

Dear Patient, thank you for your feedback. We do operate a triage system for all appointments whereby all appointment requests are triaged by our clinician based on their severity and urgency and the appointments offered accordingly. I am pleased that your concerns have already been resolved at the Surgery. We will discuss your concerns at our next Practice meeting and identify any improvements that we are able to implement. Kind regards, Dudley Park Medical Centre

  5. Review titled Terrible practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 December 2023

You cant get an appointment in this practice, however early you call, your call will be 14 in the queue. After waiting 30 to 45 mins the lady won't give you an appointment with some reason always. If you say it's emergency they will book for a triage over phone and then say no appointments. When you visit the practice, it's hardly busy. No patients, probably 1 or 2 doctors. Even the doctors are students. Terrible customer service too, rude to patients. They delay the process of meeting a doctor by not giving appointments as they don't either have doctors or not want to work.

Would you please be able to visit the Surgery to provide more details so we are able to investigate this further for you. Kind regards Dudley Park Medical Centre

  6. Review titled Appalling practise

Rated 1 star out of 5

Genuinely don’t know how this practise is able to still operate. If this was a school they’d be in special measures. Trying to get attention and appointments for my elderly relative who has learning difficulties and dementia is well nigh impossible. Been instructed by doctor to book an appointment but impossible to achieve. The lack of care and inability to get attention is positively dangerous.

  7. Review titled Access to local complaints procedure

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 July 2023

mmp have got a link to their online complaints procedure that isn’t very efficient in my opinion. I think patients at dudley park park medical centre should have local access with a senior staff member to raise and discuss their issues, it seems to be all about head office in erdington while dudley park patients are expected to accept second rate service when things so wrong? I won’t be following them to their new surgery premises because i can’t see how moving is going to improve patient access while everything operates remotely from head office?

  8. Review titled Usual inefficiency we expect from this practice.

Rated 1 star out of 5

I can not reorder my regular medicines online because the system wrongly states that a review is overdue. But the review was done by telephone on 26th April. The doctor promised she would remove the block preventing me reordering.

  9. Review titled Really bad

This place always hangs up on you, does not return calls, fails to follow up anything. Appointments for 2pm are seen around 4pm or later. Have had several blood tests misplaced. Honestly the worst practice I have dealt with. Very unprofessional.

  10. Review titled Awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 November 2022

I was due a medication review and have been unable to get an appointment for months. As a result I've had to reduce my dose which, as a fairly high dose of antidepressant, I shouldn't be doing. I emailed the practice through their system (custom medication request form) explaining I needed a refill but had run out. No one got back to me. I finally managed to get one appointment weeks away, again having to reduce my dose to see me through. Yesterday my (telephone) appointment was at 3.10pm. I finally got a phonecall an hour and a half later (after spending 45 minutes on hold to them on another line to see if they actually had a record of my booking or had just ignored that too.) The doctor was rude and condescending, was asking me questions related to how long I'd been on medications, when I'd come off them etc. He clearly hadn't even opened my record. When I finally managed to establish that I needed my prescription renewing I asked how many refills would be available. (There is usually 3 and I am able to request these in the app with no issue.) He 'didn't understand what I was asking' I asked about 3 different ways and it was like I was speaking another language. He also tried to tell me my medication hadn't been on repeat since January last year. My last refill was 5th Sept this year and I got it by requesting it from the app, it was my final refill from my last review. So totally untrue, no idea what was in front of him but it was probably the record of the patient he was due to call at 4.30. Had some bad experiences here and a couple of rude doctors but this one left me in tears of anger and frustration. Vulnerable people come for care and support, get no help and spoken to like they're stupid when they're the ones speaking sense. I don't know if the receptionists are still unbelievably rude and condescending because I can never manage to get through to one but I'm sure they probably are. Their job isn't easy but it's just another thing that makes this practice not fit for purpose.
