  2. Review titled Needs huge improvement to booking process

Rated 1 star out of 5

The only way to get an appointment is to stand in a queue at 50 mins outside the surgery. If you telephone all appointments are gone. You could be on hold for hours or get cut off. You can’t book on line, you can message non urgent problems for a call back. You can’t pre book. Apparently due to covid you can’t book on line anymore….. sorry what??!!!

Thank you for your feed back. We have increased our call takers at times of high demand to reduce the lengthy queue that we know is not acceptable. Our Care Navigators will be able to sign post patients to the most appropriate clinician or service for their issue. Online booking is in place for some of our clinical team, mainly for non-urgent appointments. For more urgent problems, we ask you to telephone the practice for assistance. We regularly review our appointment system and make positive changes where possible. The demand on our services has been very high over the past 12 months which reflects the National picture. We are continuing to recruit more staff to increase the number of available appointments each day.

  3. Review titled Nurse practitioner was great.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Pleasant receptionist, only a short wait with display board telling me when the nurse practitioner was ready to see me and where to go. She knew exactly who I was and why I'd come. She helped sort my problem and was so warm and friendly,I felt very blessed.

Can’t get an appointment for love or money, but when they contact you, your appointment is within a few days and the doctors are brilliant. I saw Dr McGrath and he was terrific.

  8. Review titled Taking new patients!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Wendy Ehoff - Posted on 08 November 2022

I have been a patient at Burton Latimer Medical Centre for 17 years Firstly just want to say the Doctors, Clinical Practitioners, Nurses and supporting staff at Burton are all fantastic. However, it has become increasingly difficult and frustrating to get an appointment. Last week I needed an appointment for a problem I had been trying to treat myself for a couple of weeks. I sought advice from my local pharmacist but it became clear that I needed to see a doctor. I called last Thursday at 8am. Over 30 people in the telephone queue + patients standing in a queue outside the surgery (Receptionist informed me). Call was answered at 8.55am. No appointments left. Same happened on Friday. I struggled on over the weekend in a lot of pain and eventually I was offered a telephone appointment on the Monday which resulted in a prescription of antibiotics. Your website says "currently taking new patients" My question is: How many more patients are you going to take on when you haven't got enough doctors/nurse practitioners to deal with the patients you already have? The numbers are only going to increase as new housing estates are built in the area increasing the numbers by thousands! What is your plan to tackle this problem in the future?

Dear Wendy, thank you for taking the time to leave us your review and we are pleased that you have been happy with the care we have been providing to you for the past 17 years. We are sorry that you were not able to initially secure an appointment and are pleased that you have now been consulted with and a treatment plan has been initiated. We are not authorised to close our patient lists and have to remain open to all residents with our practice boundary. We continue to work as hard as we can to provide as many appointments to patients whilst maintaining high standards of care and safety. Patient demand on primary care services is increasing and this is an issue across the country. We are supported by other services such as pharmacies, 111 and extended access and our staff have been trained to care navigate to these services to ensure patients are seen by the right person at the right time. We are not able to comment on plans relating to the new housing estates in the local area as this is beyond our jurisdiction. Thank you again for your feedback. Burton Latimer Medical Centre.

  10. Review titled Very Caring

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Shaun King - Posted on 10 November 2022

I've been having a number of issues recently and I was worried on the day of the visit I would be told it was nothing serious. To my glad surprise it was taken as seriously as I felt it was and steps put in place to try and find the cause. This is still on going but it is nice to be treated seriously and not as a problem. I'm sure with the help of the nurse Practitioner who saw me on the day I will finally be able to get to the bottom of my issue. They were a very pleasant individual with a caring nature and cheerful attitude despite the tremendous pressure I'm sure they were under and have been for many years now. I can't rate them highly enough or the reception staff who were polite and apologetic for delays (even when they had alot of things to deal with at once!). It's nice to have a surgery that cares very much for it's patients.
