    Booked the HPV vaccine before 25th birthday at Longsands Medical Centre, they had no problem giving me the appointment. They then rescheduled it for the day after my 25th birthday due to the "vaccine not being delivered" (convenient) and then called me this morning to tell me I could not have the vaccine because I no longer "met the guidelines" when it had been booked before I turned 25 and it was them who rescheduled, which is very convenient seeing as you have to pay for the vaccine after 25. When they rescheduled for the day after my birthday, they never explained any of this to me, and it feels very calculated they chose the day after my birthday. It messed up my holiday plans as I had to put it back a week due to them rescheduling, and it has filled me with anxiety as I had wanted the vaccine to feel a bit safer. They are incompetent, disgusting individuals, and have just wasted my time and now my parents money, as I currently can't afford the vaccine and will have to get it elsewhere.

    Dear Lucy Carroll – I acknowledge receipt of your review posted on 10th June 2025 and have now had the opportunity to fully investigate. The practice did have a stock issue of HPV vaccinations on the date of your original appointment and that is the reason why the appointment was re-scheduled. The nurse reviewed her clinic on the day and spoke with the management team about if this could be delivered to you as the reason for re-scheduling was a practice issue and this was agreed, she left a message for you to return her call so she could deliver this information. Unfortunately, the nurse did not update your medical record with this information and when you returned her call the call handler has relayed the initial message of you were ineligible due to your age. We have added the appropriate notes and patient specific documentation to your medical record in order for the nurse to be able to administer this vaccination. Might I take this opportunity to kindly suggest that you contact the practice and speak with one of the management team in future and give us the opportunity to investigate and resolve any issues you may have prior to branding the team as incompetent disgusting individuals on an NHS public forum.     Telephone the medical centre and I received an appointment the same day.When I arrived the surgery was busy and one of the members of the admin team was on the phone another colleagues then came out and checked patients including myself in .I really appreciated this and thought it was most helpful .This was in my view was an excellent example of what team work is about. My consultation was equally excellent.I felt listened to ,respected and above all felt part of planning re next steps .I also felt reassured which was most welcome given that it took me about six weeks to pluck up the courage to make a follow -up appointment.Thank you Longsands Medical Centre.

    I use an App called Evergreen life to re-order my prescriptions. I make a request which to me seems perfectly reasonable. I have 7 medications - 6 of which are for a total of approximately two months duration. This is enormously helpful, I frequently work away from home and it means I have fewer visits to the pharmacy, to plan and then perform. As you may be able to deduce - one medication, Empagliflozin is only for one months duration. every month I make the same request for this to be issued in a two month issue, so that I dont have to arrange my diary 12 times a year, only 6 around a time when I can order and then collect my full prescription. I ordered this batch on Monday of this week, I worked away for 3 days and this morning, Friday I went in to find that the request for the two months has been ignored again, its become a lottery as sometimes you do send them to the pharmacy and sometimes you dont, theres no warning and the pharmacy tie the lot into one bag which I dont discover until I get home that its missing. Even now, if I were to pop into the surgery and somehow explain all this and get some reasonable answer, Id have to again arrange at some point to head back to the pharmacy to pick this one item up. This is purely a logistical request, it requires the same amount of trust in me as an adult patient to manage my own medication as the other 6 medications I take over a two monthly cycle. It doesnt need me to "pop in for an appointment" or a "re-assessment" or anything like that - Please, just treat me as an adult, respect my time as I respect yours. I simply ask that a couple of digits against the quantity - not the dosage are doubled of my record - I dont think thats at all an unreasonable request. If you think it is Id be delighted to hear why. Thank you

    Called first thing & got appointment for early morning, after my consultation, i was given a blood test form, I asked at reception if I could book an appointment for one rather than going to the drop in blood clinic & a nurse overheard (not allowed to add her name to the review but it begins with R & ends in L) and said she would do it there & then! What fantastic service as I work full time & didn't want to take more time out of my day. She was so friendly & chatty, a credit to your team 😁
