  1. Review titled Brilliant Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My GP listened carefully to my sensitive request, took time to ask relevant questions, and to discuss my wider circumstances. Treatment has been exceptional and I could ask for nothing more.

  2. Review titled NHS practice at its best

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This is the second time that I have had to leave a review as amazingly enough my first succinct description of the excellent service that I received wasn't enough for the NHS. So here it is again padded out, see if you can spot the bit that is to the point, the only bit that you need to make a note of. I would recommend Downing Street Group practice because the service was very good it started with an effective Econsult, followed up promptly, the advice was spot on, and the review a month later, was thorough. Efficient, professional and effective is how I would describe them. What I wanted to say was "Econsult effective, follow up prompt, advice spot on, review a month later, thorough. Efficient, professional and effective." I hope this fairs better as I would like to leave a review this time.

  3. Review titled Mixed feelings

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I regret having to leave a negative review, we have been registered with the practice for nearly 30 years and have received excellent care during that time with mostly reasonable delays for appointments. Now however the situation is dire, although I accept that there is a process for urgent consultations. My situation is that having seen a cardiologist after waiting ten months during which time my appointment has been cancelled twice (not the fault of the practice) I have to be precribed a medication from my GP to help prevent my condition becoming worse and preventing the condition worsning to the point that the eventual treatment is no longer effective. Therefore it is frustrating to say the least that I can't get an appointment, face to face or telephone for many weeks, I can't even book an appointment ahead without having to phone again. The NHS app offers appointments on line, but this appears only for flu jabs etc. I accept that doctors have been extreemly busy following the Covid pandemic, and I have wish to jump the queue, but surely this situation should not exist. Is there not scope to engage more GP's to lighten the load? I sincerely hope that the situation will improve. I would add that each time I have tried to phone recently the message that 'our phone line is extreemly busy' has resulted in the phone being answered immediately, I suspect that this is a ruse to get people to use the E Consult service.

  4. Review titled No available appointments

Tried on 9th August to get an appointment.Nothing available until 8th September! Away from 4th -11th September so no good. Receptionist unable to book after 8th as system doesn’t allow it. Waiting room had 1 person there so assume all doctors on a long holiday.

  5. Review titled Very disappointed

Rated 1 star out of 5

I called the Downing Street surgery on 28.06.23 asking for a phone consultation with a doctor. I have kidney stones and am in pain. The receptionist asked me a lot of questions and informed me that a doctor will call me by 6 p.m, the same day. However, if I do not receive a call to phone the surgery again the next day. I got a call from the practice (not a doctor, reception person) informing me that the doctor would like to see me regarding another matter on 12.07.23, no mention of my earlier call - I am in pain with my kidney stone, the paracetamol I am taking is not helping with the pain! Call the surgery again on 29.06.23 to again be informed that a doctor will call me by 6 p.m, the same day, if I do not hear from anyone, I should call the surgery again (for a third time) the next day. I have not heard from anyone - is anyone surprised that A&E is full of people who should get help from the GP?

  6. Review titled Room for improvement

Rated 2 stars out of 5

After trying to extend a sickness note post operation, I was told phone again the day before my existing note expired. I therefore informed my employer that I would be able to provide an extension to the note without a problem. When I tried to extend the sick note I was told instead I had to email / econsult this request. I completed the econsult within an hour and was subsequently informed that it would not be completed in the timeframe! Such a shame everyone I spoke to gave contrasting information and there does not seem to be a clear way to get anything done!

  7. Review titled Really good surgery.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Danielle Carter - Posted on 23 March 2023

Recently joined the surgery and so far they've been excellent. Really prompt at replying to e-consult. Have made me appointments when needed and are fast at actioning prescriptions. I also like that they allocate you a specific GP so overtime they can get to know you and your medical history. This is extremely helpful to people like us who have extensive medical history. Thank you Downing Street surgery!

Thank you for your comments. Our system of having an allocated GP for all patients is very important in improving continuity of care - this is helpful for both patients and doctors! Best wishes, Suzanne (Practice Manager)

  8. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I requested an appointment using the E-Consult portal to have a skin lesion checked out. I was offered an appointment very quickly within a couple of days. The doctor who checked me out was welcoming and took time to deal with the issue and took a sample for testing. He spotted a separate issue which he treated there and then both were dressed and advice given. The whole visit was dealt with in a very professional manner from the receptionist to the doctor's examination. I am very grateful for the kind, considerate attention I received throughout and would commend the practice and the E-Consult system of appointment booking. Highly recommended.

  9. Review titled A positive experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2023

Yes, I’ve been a little frustrated with the surgery at times; the recorded telephone information, the website, waiting in the phone queue for the receptionist, completing an e-consult form etc, etc but feel compelled to submit a positive review as it’s easy focus on only the negative. My recent issue was dealt with professionally by the receptionist after which I was contacted again within a short space of time and subsequently given an urgent appointment at the Farnham Centre for Health where I was seen quickly for what could have been, but fortunately doesn’t appear to be a serious health issue. Thank you.

  10. Review titled Needs improvement

Rated 1 star out of 5

After trying to book a routine appointment via NHS app, EMIS and an E consult to no avail, I had to call the surgery. After an interrogation by a medially unqualified staff member who told me they were 'triaging' my appointment request I was told I would be added to the end of a queue but no appointments were available until 2023 - today is 6th December! I have decided to leave this surgery. No one wants to have a medical problem or put pressure on the NHS but we are human and a little kindness and empathy from frontline admin staff would go a long way - sadly, this is not on offer at this surgery.

I'm sorry for the frustration this long wait must have caused. Access to appointments was particularly difficult during the Strep A infection wave in December when you called. In cases where our patients are not able to use eConsult, our receptionists are trained to ask specific questions which help our clinicians triage appointment requests, so that we see the most urgent cases soonest. I apologise that this felt like an interrogation and a lack of empathy and I will share your feedback with our staff. Best wishes, Suzanne (Practice Manager).
