  1. Review titled Can be good but this experience very poor

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Joanne Coles - Posted on 30 April 2025

Requested repeat prescription of my medication 23/4/25. 24/4/25 had call from Dr to ask what quantity of Prednisolone I was taking and did I have to take this with the Methotrexate. Confirmed I did and assumed all good. 29/4/25 went to pharmacy to pick up tablets and Methotrexate missing. Viewed NHS app and Dr had declined it ? Called into the docs and was advised it was declined due to ordering too soon as supplied with 24 tablets . Why was this not questioned on the call or why did someone not think of letting me know . I explained that the consultant from Southmead hospital had upped the dosage from 6 to 8 tablets per week back in March, and a letter was sent to them, so this only lasts me 3 weeks . Receptionist found letter from Southmead on system that had obviously not been read by the team and she advised that very behind on reading letters! I was told to go home and do an Econsult. Found this frustrating as didn’t want an appointment . Came home and rang the docs and was told they would put it as an urgent referral as I have no tablets left and need to take them 1/5/2025 plus going away 2/5/2025. Was told they would let me know. Heard nothing so today 30/4/25, called docs again at 11am and told it would be ready for Thursday 1st May. Explained that I take them first thing every Thursday so needed the tablets today to be able to do that as working tomorrow and holiday Friday. Again the receptionist put forward an urgent request . Heard nothing so rang again at 3pm and told would be tomorrow. Again explained not acceptable and eventually had a call back to say that it had been signed off by the Dr and that I could collect from Pharmacy. I must say that the receptionist today was very helpful and understanding and managed to sort this out but this situation put me under a lot of stress whilst trying to work and having to make calls to chase it. I feel that I should not have been put in this situation in the first place as the letter clearly states the increase in medication and had obviously not been read. What is the point of hospital letters being sent when these are not checked !

  2. Review titled Compassionate care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Just wanted to say thank you to the nurse who conducted my smear test today. Her kind and compassionate manner made me feel instantly at ease. It’s not an appointment that any woman particularly looks forward to but the nurse that I saw today made a huge difference as to how I felt about it.

  3. Review titled Caring and knowledgeable GP

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I met with the locum GP twice and also had a follow up telephone call. I cannot stress enough how positive all contact has been with him and he has offered me in depth care and ongoing contact. I have also had telephone contact with nursing staff and a blood test given by a very pleasant phlebotomist. This has revised my opinion of eConsult and the NHS.

  4. Review titled Amazing service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

What a fantastic experience,I've not been to the GP for all ong time,I had a problem with an embarrassing cyst on the back of my head which was making me very self conscious. Reluctantly I made an appointment and was seen on the 5th march at the Willow practice where I was made to feel very welcome and relaxed, the Doctor diagnosed the problem and only one week later had me back in for minor surgery which went very well. Felt I had to write something as we're all to quick to jump on the negatives of the GP services, thank you, you really have made a huge difference to my wellbeing😀

I phoned the surgery to ask if I should be receiving follow up care or blood tests as the Southmead cardiologist I saw discharged me back to the care of the GP Practice, the PA I spoke to was very helpful saying she would make enquiries for me and get back to me, which she did!

  7. Review titled Messages are not getting through to patients correctly

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 January 2025

After having a blood pressure test and a blood test. Things have gone downhill for me. I have had my medication changed which was not a problem. The blood test has been redone 3 times so far because my sodium levels are low (as they have been for years). After a conversation with the surgery it was decided I had to make my own appointment for the following week (the Doctor being unable to do this). This call was received late on a Friday afternoon which didn't allow any time to make the appointment. So the following Monday I went to make the appointment which was agreed at 7.40am that week. Which, when I attended , the nurse informed me that I should have made the appointment for 09.00am as this is the time for optimum levels of I presume sodium. I have not had the results. Also I was expecting a phone call from the econsult team this morning about my blood pressure, that didn't happen. In amongst all this I received from the surgery some information about low sodium which I can honestly say absolutely terrified me. I haven't been the same since. I am now a very very scared person who is looking around every corner for whatever horrible symptom or range of symptoms I am about to encounter. Why did the surgery or the person who sent it do this to me. Its all very well letting people know what is wrong with them, but by text/email. I think this warrants a face to face whereby questions or tfeatments may be asked about it at the time. I am a very level heade person, my mother died of this condition and I know how horrible it can be for the patient. I don't need a text to frighten me about it. I am now sat here thinking how long I've got and the effect this illness will have on my family. Also, I am hard of hearing, talking to people from the surgery is difficult for me, I have got things wrong in the past and have asked for the written word. The surgery have taken no notice whatsoever, there must be others like me, however, whatever form of communication I would ask that the patient is asked if they want information and that it may not be very nice. I did not want it on this occasion - it did not make any difference to me whether I knew it or not.

  8. Review titled Brilliant NHS

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jackie Poole - Posted on 15 February 2025

I recently saw a GP at the Willow Surgery with a breast lump that was worrying me. She gave me a thorough examination and made an appointment for me at the Bristol Breast Care Centre. This appointment came through within two weeks and I was checked and thankfully given the all clear. I have only praise for the caring staff at the Willow Surgery and at Beaufort House. Their kindness and amazing efficiency makes me so grateful to have the NHS. The staff work tirelessly under pressure and I am so grateful.

  9. Review titled Excellent Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by James Parker - Posted on 29 January 2025

I used E Consult to arrange an appointment to ask for a GP to examine my wheezing chest following a cold which had lasted for 12 days. I was offered an appointment very quickly, within 2 days of my enquiry. The surgery seemed to be very efficiently organised and I did not have to wait long after my scheduled time to see the doctor. The examination was extremely thorough and very detailed. The doctor could not have more professional. He gave me ample opportunity to ask questions and had obviously checked my medical history in detail. At no time did I feel that I was being rushed and I was completely happy and reassured by the outcome. In the current climate where the NHS is under pressure and gets so much bad press, this was an unexpectedly good experience and reminded me of how lucky we are to have such a service. Well done and thank you.
