  2. Review titled GP Appointment

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I attended the surgery today as I was not feeling very well. I called up and was offered an appointment which was very good. The doctor I saw was understanding and gave me antibiotics. What I didn't think was good was that I saw a staff member smoking an e cig in the back and it looked like they were throwing things at each other.

  3. Review titled Always been a good practice we are fortunate patients

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 February 2023

Overall this has been a great practice . Yes at times During Covid and up until recently it has been hard and is hard to get an appointment quickly. We’ve all been stressed over the last couple of years and we’re all angry, frustrated and impatient with each other we’re all to blame! However this has not been the worst surgery in the world during these difficult times and with the right attitude patients can get access to the right care. I’m a big believer in moving forward positively so let’s all do this . I have been on the website this morning and was pleasantly surprised that it is easier to navigate and ordering a prescription for my child has been made easier ( ordering for a dependent) the staff most of the time are fantastic when you call and let’s face it we all have our off days! The doctors are great and a couple exceptional even ! We need to be grateful for the positives and there are far worse surgeries. The nurses are friendly and clinicians are pleasant. And like I mentioned earlier .. if patients have a good attitude so will the surgery… no good shouting and balling … we all need to calm down and let people get on with their jobs and respect each other. All in all a good surgery and I feel trying to listen to patients needs and adapting accordingly so Thankyou !

Dear Patient Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of the Practice and your reflections. We are continually looking at how we can improve our services and in particular access for patients. We are aware that there are difficulties in getting through to the Practice at times and getting the appointments you hope for, despite increasing telephone lines, access routes in and numbers of staff working at the Practice. We will continue to look at ways to improve what we can offer so we can provide the best service we can for patients. I will pass on your comments to the staff as I am sure they will appreciate your feedback. Regards Practice Manager

  4. Review titled Conflicting information given

Rated 1 star out of 5

This used to be a really good, accessible surgery but all that has changed since covid. I had a scan yesterday at the hallamshire, within 2 hours I had received a text from the gp saying I needed to make an appointment re my results. I panicked as that was very quick & telephoned the surgery to make an appointment to be told the soonest appointment they could make me was end Dec! But I was I in the drs call back lust for today Thurs) … at 1.15pm I am still waiting fir this call back & apparently that call back can be anytime up to 4pm (I work & gave meetings so this is really difficult). In addition to all this, the scan yesterday was the 3rd scan for this problem, the radiographer told me I shouldn’t have been referred back to them for this particular scan & they had asked for the gp to refer me to a specialist department! Now I am sat in limbo, not being able to concentrate on work awaiting a call at some point for my results! Oh, & I received my results from the 2nd scan in a 1 line text message!!! Where is the patient care ? I am in the process of finding an alternative gp!

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback and note your concerns. I understand that a GP did contact you later in the afternoon so I hope you are now reassured regarding your results and any agreed plans regarding your ongoing care. The Practice is dealing with a high level of patient queries on a daily basis and we try to respond to them as quickly as we can. However, we will look into your particular concerns and discuss any learning as a team and how we can try to improve the systems and processes we currently have in place. We are sorry for any anxiety this experience as caused you. Regards Practice Manager

  5. Review titled Brilliant GP

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I have found all the staff at this GP surgery to be lovely and helpful, including both medical and administration staff. It has been easy to get appointments, both in advance and on the same day. The staff went out of their way to assist me when I needed to be taken to A&E from the practice. The regular doctor I see is fantastic, always listens and finds a solution. I highly recommend this GP.

  6. Review titled Impossible to get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Drew McLaughlin - Posted on 28 October 2022

It's impossible to get an appointment here. Phone lines open for triage at 8 am. I called at 8.02 am and couldn't get through. When I called later in the day, I was told I had no option but to phone back the next day. This is a persistent problem with this surgery. The automated phone system is slow and unclear, along with an inaccurate website that is poorly designed, hard to use and still refers to the old "Walk-in and wait" system with incorrect times. I do not understand why it isn't possible to book an appointment online. If you're lucky enough to speak to a nurse or a doctor, it's fine but getting past the telephone gatekeeps is impossible.

Morning Drew Sorry to hear you have had problems getting an appointment. We are trying our upmost to try and provide as many appointments as we can and improve access...we have increased the number of telephone lines and staff levels to try and offer as much access as we can and are constantly reviewing the systems to try and improve where we can, including increasing online options for booking appointments. We are also in the process of changing our website provider so that it is more user friendly and will look at how to ensure it is up-to-date and provides the information patient's needs. I hope you have managed to get the appointment you need but if you are still struggling you can email into the surgery for non-urgent advice if that is helpful dovercourt.surgery@nhs.net Regards Practice Manager

  8. Review titled Useless practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 July 2022

This is the worst practice I have ever joined. The call time for trying to get an appointment is between 8am and 10am but I have tried calling in these times on numerous occasions and the line is constantly engaged. If you call for an appointment outside of these times, if you are lucky you receive an appointment booking for weeks or months later, making any urgent issues are unseen and most likely to get worse. Alternatively the receptionist relays the notes of your condion to the doctor and he/she decides there is nothing they can do so no appointment regardless of the issue (maybe if I my symtoms were so severe they ahd to listen I might get somewhere). The receptionists are kind and try to help but I feel the doctor I have been given on several occasions is actively discriminating against me as some kind of hypercondriac, which I am not. I rarely call doctors unless I have something which is of genuine concern and I cannot find my own way of dealing with it.

  9. Review titled Poor experience at GP surgery

    by libraxk49 - Posted on 25 August 2022

I feel that this surgery has declined since Covid. It feels like you now have zero chance of seeing somebody, and when you do, it is very much rushed and skimmed. I went with numerous issues. One thing was concentrated on and other things brushed aside. If they had been looked at in conjunction, I wouldn't have had to go to the drop-in 3 weeks later and be finally diagnosed and medicated! I still have outstanding issues though. I also got locked in as all reception staff had left and had to repeatedly knock on the door to wait for cleaning staff to let me out, despite a doctor walking down the corridor and looking at me beckoning to be let out.

  10. Review titled So unhelpful and demeaning

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 August 2023

This practice genuinely never went out of their way to help me. I went for 5+ years consistently about the same issues with mental health and each time I was just told it’s stress and “hormones” when I insisted I wasn’t remotely stressed in my life other than my mental health!! The doctor would speak to me in a demeaning tone like I was just looking for attention and it made me feel awful. I recently moved to a different practice and after my first visit there discussing my issues they immediately understood and referred me for medication and therapy. If only it was so easy here!! Apart from this it is impossible to get an appointment anyway. There is no online triage system or phone queue system and you have to ring 200+ times until your call even gets through, which at point it’s 8:05am and obviously all the appointments have been booked up.
