The first hurdle to get through is the telephone queuing system. It always starts at 8 and then when you get to number one it’s left ringing and ringing. When I eventually got through after 55 minutes, I was immediately told that doctors were only responding to emergencies. That’s what A&E’s are for, not for people who can’t get hold of their doctor. I wanted to see my doctor about my blood test for prostrate problems after I didn’t get a call for the results. I didn’t realise that you’re not contacted if the results are ok. I worried that I had cancer for weeks, I could have at least received a call to calm my fears. The receptionist said that the doctors were only doing phone calls and no face to face appointments. I never complain about anything but this is not just about me… it’s a wider issue. I’ve read today that hospitals can’t cope because too many people with insignificant ailments are being ignored by doctors therefore their first point of call is now the hospital. My appointment would have taken 5 minutes and that would have been the end of it. From the time I started calling to the time I was eventually called back, it took a lot more time. Why are doctors so scared of seeing patients face to face? They can’t blame Covid any longer. I pay lots of tax and NI and therefore I pay for my NHS. I would rather pay private if I didn’t pay a massive contribution to this mismanaged, unproductive and inefficient uncaring ‘service’ and I’ll probably get even worse service after this but I’m now past the point of caring.

Dear patient. Thank you for your feedback, as routine practice when our GPs request tests they routinely inform patients that we would only contact them if the sample result required follow up and if symptoms are still continuing then to contact the surgery back. If you contact the Practice Manager directly, she will investigate your issues. Contacting the Practice Manager to discuss the situation is a far better option than posting anonymous comments as then improvements can be made and proper apologies offered in case of any shortcomings on our part. As a Practice we feel it would be very helpful if you could come forward and talk to us, in this way we can assess the situation and ensure that all your medical requirements were covered and that we can aim to improve our service.

A kind and supportive reception team when I visited the surgery very emotional and in pain. I was taken aside to alleviate my embarrassment, put on the Drs list and was seen by a Dr after a short wait. Thank you.

I have been with this practice for over 40 years, and have always had great service. Yes it can take a while to get through on the phone sometimes, but that has always been true. Just ring at a different time of day. I have always been treated with courtesy and respect and the Doctors have not hesitated in providing medication or referrals when they think it is necessary.
