  1. Review titled Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

After spending well over 3 hours unsuccessfully trying to get through to my GP practice in Mickleover, I visited the drop in centre. I hadn't booked through 111, but was triaged within 5 minutes. I did have to wait over 2 hours but was then seen by a lovely nurse practitioner who was very thorough, professional and caring. She prescribed the medication that was needed. I would definitely use this service again.

  2. Review titled A very painful and disappointing visit.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Had a fall downstairs and injured my ankle. The next morning it was very swollen and extremely painful so I checked on 111 website and it directed me to your facility. Got a lift down and hobbled in to a very confused reception area. I was asked if I was booking in and was booked in for a blood test and sent to hobble off down the corridor. Realising something was wrong I went back to the desk where they could find no details of my entry to 111 website even though it had given me a time to arrive. Eventually booked and told to wait...and wait and wait. Eventually called in by triage who didn't even examine the ankle, some details taken and sent to wait and wait. Called in by a doctor who examined the ankle and said that as they had no x-ray facility I would have to go the Royal. He was very apologetic. Why did 111 direct me to a facility without the right equipment is anyones guess. By now the pain was excruciating made worse by struggling to get to A &E at the Royal where the waiting process began again. Eventually seen and x-rayed finding a broken tibia and fibia and placed in a plaster cast. Arrived home after a total of 8 hours and reflected on the very unempathic service provided by First Medical. If someone had shown some interest in my suffering I could have been redirected much earlier in the process.

Hello there, I am very sorry to hear of your experience when attending the service. I am really sorry to hear that you were directed here inappropriately by another service - we regularly review our profile which allows other services such as 111 to see what services and facilities we offer here at site to keep this as up to date as possible. We never have offered X-Ray facilities, however this is something we look to provide in the future. We do try our best to redirect patients to the most appropriate service during our triage assessments to improve our patients journey through the system to make this as efficient as possible but sometimes injuries do need assessing by an advanced practitioner to ensure we are making the right decision and following the right route of care for the best treatment. I do hope you have recovered well and will give us another opportunity in the future should you ever require our services. Many thanks, Livia - DUTC Management Team
