  2. Review titled Go here if you dont need your script & have free minutes

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jade - Posted on 09 May 2023

I cannot believe that after 1 hour 7 minutes on hold to this surgery that the phone finally rang only for the line to go dead and hang up!!!!! The reason for ringing is to sort out a prescription issue which had happened for two months in a row now whereby the electronic signature shows as invalid in the chemist, so they're unable to pull the script through and provide the medication. Last month, I was told my the chemist that it was the gp issue. The gp stated that it was the chemist. After going back to the chemist after a new script was done, the same issue happened. I then got a bar code and went around to various chemists to try and get my much needed prescription only to be told that it is absolutely an issue with the gp surgery. I had four separate trips to the chemist before getting a paper script. This resulted in another call to the gp to request a paper script. Which was done. Then after about a week of no meds I was back on them. Low and behold, this month arrives. The same issue. I left a message on the script line requesting a paper script or the issue to be resolved, as well as an email venting my frustrations. Only to be texted from the gp surgery to say that there is no issue on their end and to use the bar code in the chemist. The same issue is happening!!! Tonight after waking up following a nightshift, I rang the surgery and was on hold for one hour and seven minutes. Just what you want to be doing before a nightshift in a stressful nhs service! Finally the phone rings and I think thank god for that. Then the line goes dead and the call hangs up. Is this some kind of joke? I can't believe that this is the service that is now being provided from a surgery that I've been registered with for coming up 28 years. There has been no listening to my requests for a paper prescription or discussion around the issue to get it resolved despite sending an email also. The only response is a no reply text message telling me to do the thing that I already done last month with absolutely zero success! It's important to note that the medication is for adhd. Something which I need to be able to engage with daily tasks, my job which involves direct patient care of vulnerable people, and keep on top of issues such as this! This is an impossible task month in month out and I can't share how frustrated and let down I feel by this practice at the moment. Never mind the waste of time I've had tonight on hold!!!! Poor, very very poor.

Always had nothing but praise for dt but dont know whats happened? As others say you can never get through now, can be 10th in q wait then get to front q then get cut off, its quicker to go in person to book appt, also they encouraging you to download app, which is awful for elderly, i went online registered and still waiting for them to send back to register etc, ruined what was once great practise, feel for receptionists not their fault , changed to system as if nobody manning phone

The staff are absolutely disgusting! Especially the receptionist got no manners what so ever and think they can over ride everything and think they know it all, attitude is disgusting honestly lucky there’s still patients there, need sacked if the staff they have and actually get new staff which have a lot more class and respect and can learn to talk to people nicely

  5. Review titled Chaotic

My husband and I went for our Spring Covid Boosters at 3.30pm this afternoon. Our appointment was for 3.35pm. Parking was a nightmare and once inside it was absolute chaos with about 60 to 70 people crammed into the waiting area mostly standing room only. We had to join a queue to register we were there , which took forever. We overheard the receptionist say “you should have been here this morning, it was even worse”!! We then had to go to another staff member who handed us a number for both of us - number 69. I asked her how long we would have to wait and she said she hadn’t a clue but they had just called number 35. So that was at least 34 people, probably a lot more because there was quite a few couples. If you reckon on 3 to 5 minutes by the time they check your details etc and give you the jab that adds up to quite a wait. We weren’t prepared to wait and walked out in disgust. People were still piling in. When I look back to all the other covid jabs we have had, they were an absolute dream, so organised and professional. When I ring up to rebook our appointment I certainly will not be going back to Denton Turret

Tried to book an appointment Tuesday 11th April firstly on the patient access App but GP practice is currently disconnected, so had to ring waited 50 minutes from caller number 9 to the phone ringing believing someone would now answer but no just kept ringing! This started at 4.50 pm, this happens regularly, really should hire extra staff or upgrade their systems.

  8. Review titled You will never get an appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

They open at 8am dont expect to get an appointment that day as you'll find out when you call you will be 40 (sometimes 60+) in the queue to get through. When you do you'll be quizzed by the reception staff as so why you want an appointment, then to be told they have nothing for that date anymore. Unfortunately you cant make appointments in advance in unless its for a nurse but to be told you need to ring the next day at the same time to be in same situation on hold for 50+ mins to be told they have nothing is frustrating (I done this 4 times and still nothing) unfortunately not everyone works from home and cant just drop things to be at an appointment in the middle of the day or wants to have a conversation regarding there health concerns which is private at work but it seems like everyone has forgotten that. So if you want to see a doctor or speak to them about anything expect to be seen nearly a week later when you finally get through to there shocking phone system which each time they tell you is new but they've had it for nearly a year so this cant keep being an excuse for the phone lines.

  9. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 March 2023

I’ve been registered with the practice for nearly 20 years now and am now at an age when I would expect a wellness check (reaching 55) I have to say, I haven’t been invited yet to have this check. I have contacted the GP to have my PSA as I thought it was important for a check, but have never receive an invitation for BP check or routine bloods. That is until today. Today I received a text inviting me to “pop” along to the surgery at my own convenience to have my blood pressure checked via a machine in the reception. I think this is very worrying. Not only will I be expected to do this just so that a box is ticked for the surgery, I have to do this without speaking to a health care professional! Not great service at all. I understand that Covid has changed the way that the NHS providers see patients, but feel that a lot of underlying health conditions could be missed by removing a health check and substituting it with a BP machine in a reception area.

    Replied on 16 March 2023

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you feel this was not a suitable approach to invite you in for a BP check. Routine bloods are not generally taken without clinical need. All our patients who currently have a long term medical condition are invited annually for checks. Patients who are taking certain medications are invited into practice as per NICE guidance. If you have no long term condition, it is recommended that you have your blood pressure taken at least 5 yearly, which is why I invited you into practice. All recordings taken on the machine in reception are input into your clinical record and should any of the details indicate that you are outside "normal" range, details will be passed to a clinician. As GP practices are under extreme pressure GP appointments are needed for patients who need clinical review due to ill health or ongoing conditions as priority. An NHS healthcheck is available at The Lemington Centre, Tyneview, Newcastle upon Tyne. NE15 8DE. Their contact number is 0191 272 4244. Entitlement is based on not having predefined medical conditions. I hope this has helped to answer your queries. Sharon Russell Practice Manager

  10. Review titled Telephone frustrations

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 March 2023

Just an overview of my telephone experiences of trying to make an appointment with a nurse this week on three separate days and times. First time 9 in queue and disconnected after 30 mins. Second 15 in queue which went on after 6 o’clock, so no answer. Third today 9 in queue And answered after nearly an hour. It only took 2 mins to make appointment. (Unable to book nurse on line). I did not complain to receptionist as I know they have been given more work. There is no indication of whether you are moving up the queue adding to the frustration. Everyone I speak to makes the same complaint so surely it’s time to sort the problem out. Pat Q (Anonymous)

Good Afternoon Pat Q. Thank you for taking the time to send your feedback. I am sorry you are having difficulties with our telephone system. Unfortunately demand is at an all time high for both the practice and the health service in general. I have logged a report with our telephone suppliers following your concern as the system is supposed to keep patients updated as to their position in the queue. In order to be able to investigate this fully I would like to ask that you contact me at the surgery with details of dates and times you called the practice. You can do this by email to dentonturret.A86601@nhs.net if you would find that easier that telephoning. We are currently working on a solution to allow patients to book nursing appointments online and that will become available when assurances have been met. I hope this helps answer your concerns.
