  1. Review titled Mixed Experiences

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I have had a few mixed experiences with this practice. The doctors are lovely, get an appointment to see the right one and they are amazing, however, getting a face-to-face appointment is impossible. I requested a face-to-face appointment with a specific doctor in the middle of April and got a telephone appointment (as I was told they had no face-to-face appointments left) waited till May for my phone call, 1 week before receptionist rang and told me the doctor I wanted to speak to was available 'this afternoon' if i wanted to move my appointment forward, so i did. Only to be rang by a different doctor, who agreed on the phone that I needed to speak to the one i'd requested. This meant anothet booking of another telephone appointment (because they still had no face-to-face appointments) and another 4 week wait till June when my requested doctor rang me, only for them to say I needed to see you face-to-face. Luckily, they were available at that time and I was, to be able to go straight in and see them. The main issue at the moment (other than no face-to-face appointments) is the mere wait after booking an appointment, it is too long. We've waited 4 weeks for my daughters blood test, for me to cancel it as it turns out she is now on a school trip, to be told, they have no availability for booking another appointment.

Thank you for your feedback. We are currently working hard to review and amend our appointment system to enable patients to have a wider range of appointments, in the hope to improve access. Unfortunately the whole of the NHS is under increased pressures, and we are experiencing a large number of challenges at the practice and the work load of all the staff has increased dramatically. However, we at the Practice are continuing to make a number of responsive changes following the ongoing developments to ensure the maximum safety of our patients, and to protect our staff as much as possible to ensure that the NHS can keep working in an effective manner and can continue to provide the best level of care possible. If you would like to discuss this further please contact the practice manager to discuss this further.

  3. Review titled Worst practice

I attended an appointment on the 13th January with the nurse after being referred by occupational health at my work. I handed over a form given to me by occupational health to be completed by the doctor. I was told by the nurse that a doctor would have to fill in the form and it would be passed on. After making three phone calls and being told there was no trace of this form, I called in person to be told to call back tomorrow when you would have had chance to track it down. I called in the next day and was assured it would be ready if I called back tomorrow as it was with the secretary. I called in on 10th February to be told it was not ready but I would receive a phone call later on that day when it would be ready. This never happened. I then phoned the practice back later on 10th February to be told it has been posted back to me to be filled in by occupational health at work. How Ludacris is this when it is occupation health at work that requested you to complete it in the first place. After a visit to accident and emergency on 29th January I was diagnosed with a torn meniscus. I was told this would take a minimum of 6 to 12 weeks to recover from. I then self-certified for the first seven days. On the 6th February I phoned the practice to request a fit note. I was told I needed to have a telephone consultation with the doctor before this could be issued and I would receive a phone call from the doctor, this never happened. Then a text was sent to me on 8th February with a link for the fit note. I phoned the practice on the same day to say I need a paper copy as I do not have the necessary i.t. equipment to deal with this. I was told to call in the practice on 9th February to pick it up. I called in and was told it was not ready but I would get a phone call in the morning to confirm it was ready. This never happened. I then called in on the 10th February and was told it was not ready but I would receive a phone call later on that day when it would be ready. This never happen. I then received a text requesting further information regarding the fit note. I then phoned the practice and was told you wanted to know the dates of the fit note (bearing in mind this had already been completed and sent electronically.) I was then told there had been some confusion over the fit note but it should be ready by the 13th January. How difficult is it for a general practice to issue a fit note? I have been repeatedly fobbed off and purposely lied too. This whole situation has been shambolic. This practice is a disgrace to your profession.

I was unhappy around lunch time and by tea time the staff helped me to sort things out by telephoning me and explaining why things are done the way they are. Sometimes a little patience is needed by us the patients that the doctors staff are very busy and have to deal with lots of different issues. It was so nice today to resolve my problem. A big thank you to all the staff at Denton medical for all your support. Xxx Harriet Nowak.

Thank you for your feedback. We can see your online form was received on Tuesday, this was then clinically triaged on Wednesday morning and allocated to a clinician to contact yourself on Friday, all in the same week. We advised all patients to contact the practice at 8am on the day for urgent triage consultations. Please accept our apologies if you feel this was not completed in a sufficient time time. As you are all aware the NHS is under increased pressures, and we are experiencing a large number of challenges at the practice and the work load of all the staff has increased dramatically. This GP practice has really gone downhill since Covid. I don’t know why they have receptionists answering the phone because everything has to be done online via forms and then they are supposed to get back to you within 2 days but in reality this doesn’t happen. Staff have no concept of urgency and use the broken record technique “computer says no”. I’ve just been told by a member of the admin team to move practice if I don’t like it. No concept of equality duty act. No concept of caring for patients.
