  1. Review titled Impossible to Book Appointments

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Absolutely ridiculous system at this GP, if you call for an appointment you get told you can only do so by phoning at 8.30am. There is no call waiting system so you have to just repeatedly call and hope you are lucky. I called 172 times on this occasion and when I did get through they said there were no appointments left and I had to try again tomorrow. Very impractical when you work/have children, I sat for 30min doing this. Also they do not open all day every day, have few appointments outside of work hours and close the phones for the staff to have lunch! All very archaic. There should be a waiting system on the phone to book an appointment, appointments should be staggered release (maybe in the afternoon some for the following morning could be released?) at least 2 days a week with evening appointments up to 8pm (a colleague says hers is open until 9pm every night!) And staff should stagger lunch so there is always someone able to answer the phone. Working people often can only phone at lunch, the fact it closes is ridiculous. If you actually get to see a doctor they do seem good doctors...but that is if!

  2. Review titled Communication and Attitude Issues

Have been at this practice since I was born in 1964 it bears no resemblance to the caring helpful surgery it once was I have two long term health conditions which are managed by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals very well but this Gp surgery does not read their letters look at the results reporting system and repeatedly ask me to have repeat blood tests which have already been taken at the hospital there is just no joined up service here now The drs talk over you will just not let you tell them what has happened it is like they are not interested even though you might know more about your condition than them I was recently told that I was lucky to have had several covid vaccines as I’m immunosupressed I would not consider myself to be lucky at all with a chronic condition I am a health professional and I know more about the NHS than most, know what bloods I need when and do not appreciate being asked to have them repeated at this Gp because they cannot look on the hospital reporting system! When you call for an appointment it is like you are asking for an hours consultation you barely get 5 mins on the telephone the receptionists want to know all your private business and it’s just not appropriate to ask patients the questions Recently they lost blood pressure readings I was asked to take in and asked if I would do them all again I am speechless Please stop talking and treating long standing patients or indeed anyone like cattle we deserve a bit of compassion and care Listen to the patient please Tick box exercises do not make for good care And perhaps open earlier and later so appointments can be accessed for shift workers Please don’t just take repeat medications off the online system so they cannot be ordered as this can stop important medication being obtained in a timely manner Thankyou in anticipation of change

  3. Review titled Let down once again

Rated 2 stars out of 5

My husband ordered two items on a repeat prescription Monday 24th left it while Friday to collect downstairs at the chemist only to be told that only one item had been sent down on the prescription, the item left off was the needles needed for his diabetic syringe another prescription was ordered for him to collect after 2pm that afternoon when he went to collect he was told the pharmacy had non in stock until Monday, fortunately the situation is not life threatening but it could have been. It is not the fault of the chemist as they can only supply what is on the prescription, the fault is with whoever in the surgery makes it out, it is unacceptable and more care should be taken as this is not the first time this has happened.

  4. Review titled Utter garbage service.

Informed by my doctor to go and have my blood pressure and bloods done. Had these done, and was told again by the doctor to make a repeat appointment to have my bloods done again and blood pressure as it was high when i first visited. Tried on two occasions now to get an appointment for this to be done, as per doctors request. No appointments for at least 2 weeks. So what are people supposed to do then. Get told to ring at 8 am and by 9 am after not being able to get through all appointments gone. So i ask again what are you supposed to do. Tried to get another appointment for my husband aswel, told the same thing, no appointments. He also has been told to make a repeat appointment, but you cant get one. And its quite personal what he needs to see a doctor for. But as usual the receptionists think they are all doctors and want to know what you need to see a doctor for. Its personal, dont want to share my private problems with a receptionist thank you very much. If he wanted to discuss this with the receptionists he would make an appointment to see them rather than a doctor. Best thing about it is, when you do get an appointment (on very rare occasions) there is no one waiting in the waiting room. So does this mean all appointments are phone appointments now adays. Ridiculous. Receptionist we spoke to over the phone very clever in tone and manner, told us thats upto you when we said we would be moving gp's. Not interested at all. Will be moving after this. Goodbye.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to the attention of the practice. The practice is committed to providing a high quality, patient-focused service. Complaints and comments from patients are taken very seriously, as we want every patient to feel satisfied with the services we provide. We apologise for the issues you have experienced when using our service. We strive to provide the best possible service for our patients but are currently experiencing immense pressures. These pressures are intensified whilst we are further impacted by long term sickness and Covid isolations. Deepcar Medical Centre is not alone in struggling with these pressures as GP surgeries across Sheffield, South Yorkshire and the United Kingdom all report being overwhelmed. We are also aware that we have had long term problems in struggling to meet the demand on the phones and that this is now made worse by the surge in demand. Once again, we apologise for the negative experience you have had and assure you we are working on trying to improving access.
