  1. Review titled Not an overall great experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

Made an appointment through the anima website which is particularly difficult to use to be told I will be called. No date no time just having to wait for a phone call which is very impractical due to just work and life in general. Was never called / spoken to for the results of my blood tests I had to ring up and ask wether I could speak to the doctor to move forward with my situation which I was told that won’t be happening unless I make another appointment and go through the whole process again. Feel like I have been completely washed to the side and had no interest / care at all of my situation. Overall very unimpressed and dissatisfied of what used to be a really helpful practice.

Thank you for your feedback. All Anima requests are responded to on the day they are submitted, during the process you are asked when and how you would like to be contacted, if you opt for a phone call our clinical team will try and contact you 3 times before patients need to resubmit a query. Test results are available on the NHS App and our clinical team will be in contact should your results indicate that you need to be followed up. Please email us on deancrosssurgery@nhs.net if you would like us to investigate your complaint.

  2. Review titled Such a great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was very worried about a health issue. I received an appointment so quickly. The nurse was so friendly, thorough and reassuring. Whenever I have attended the surgery I have always been so impressed by the level of care and the friendliness of all the staff. It is a wonderful caring practice.

  4. Review titled Great GP's but appointments impossible. Admin very sloppy

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 25 July 2023

Patient records are chaotic, sparse, erroneous and very badly administered. GPs are fantastic but appointments (even following a hospital referral back) are about 7 weeks to see your GP. Emergency appointments are impossible if you work they expect workers to call when driving, then on hold for ages and then when/if you get through there are no appointments available - this is an ongoing situation. Appointments are only by telephone with no idea of a time when surgery will call and if you can't take call (phones difficult at work and in no privacy) they cancel. Only if you speak to someone (normally NP not your GP) can you sometimes get a face to face appointment but it is made very difficult to achieve. I and other patients I know at this surgery are feeling abandoned and left with nowhere to turn when ill apart from 111 (only out of hours) or A&E as it seems every effort is made by public facing staff to keep patients away from the surgery. It is appreciated by all that GPs are short staffed and busy but the practice manager needs to sort things our and urgently find a system that is fair to all and enables patients access to their, or at least a, GP.

  5. Review titled Useless... you are by yourself in this world

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 June 2023

I spent 26 minutes on the phone waiting to speak to the receptionist only to be told I have to phone back in the morning. This is dreadful service. I am at my wits end and need help. I phone the doctors about twice a year, and only if I have to. Broken Britain.

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry to hear that we were unable to help you. You should have been directed to 111 rather than asked to call back the next day if our duty list was full. Please feel free to email us deancrosssurgery@nhs.net if you would like us to investigate further.

  9. Review titled Doesn't want to see you and provide treatment.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 October 2022

I have extensive Psoriasis which also affects my ears. I previously had my ears syringed at Dean Cross Surgery in 2021. When I approached the Surgery to have my ears syringed again - as I was getting very deaf due to the build up of wax and psoriatic skin - I was informed that the Surgery wasn't doing this procedure anymore. I did call the Surgery a few times about this and I was given various excuses about why they weren't doing ear syringing anymore:- The machine was broken and the Surgery couldn't afford to replace it; The NHS has decided that ear syringing could now be harmful - after all these years of having my ears syringed with no ill effects. I was then told that I would have to pay privately to have my ears syringed to cure me of my deafness, which was detrimentally affecting my quality of life. The charge to have my ears syringed and have my hearing restored was £60 (and can be more), which I had difficulty paying from my pension. They also use the same/similar ear syringing equipment as the NHS/GP used. Everyone wants to do as little as possible now, and everything is slowly being privatised.
